Jean Piaget was one of the most salient and inspirational figures in psychological and educational research this century. He was prolific, authoring or editing over eighty books and numerous journal papers which have spawned a huge and fertile continuation of his research over the decades. A major component of any course on children's psychological development and a research tradition that is expanding, scholars need access to the original texts rather than relying on secondhand accounts. Ce texte offre quelques réflexions épistémologiques et méthodologiques en réponse au texte d’Antoine Boudreau LeBlanc qui plaide pour une bioéthique renouvelée, capable de faire le lien entre science et politique afin de relever les défis majeurs auxquels l’humanité est actuellement confrontée. Cette proposition apparait nécessaire, compte tenu du paradoxe qui émerge du fait que l’expertise et la spécialisation grandissante ne se traduisent pas toujours par des solutions aux problèmes complexes qui affligent l’humanité. Il apparaît nécessaire de réfléchir à la nature (...) même de ces problèmes et de reconnaitre qu’ils se situent à une échelle qui dépasse l’individu. De même, il apparait nécessaire de considérer la dimension pratique de mise en oeuvre des solutions proposées. L’ouverture épistémique de la bioéthique semble être un atout important à cet égard. Toutefois, on peut se demander si le potentiel d’hybridation entre les savoirs défendu par Boudreau LeBlanc risque d’être atténué par la professionnalisation et la centralisation de la médiation entre ceux-ci. In this paper, I examine the decision-theoretic status of risk attitudes. I start by providing evidence showing that the risk attitude concepts do not play a major role in the axiomatic analysis of the classic models of decision-making under risk. This can be interpreted as reflecting the neutrality of these models between the possible risk attitudes. My central claim, however, is that such neutrality needs to be qualified and the axiomatic relevance of risk attitudes needs to be re-evaluated accordingly. Specifically, (...) I highlight the importance of the conditional variation and the strengthening of risk attitudes, and I explain why they establish the axiomatic significance of the risk attitude concepts. A travers une analyse des concepts d’affirmation originaire, d’attestation et de reconnaissance, cet article tente de reconstituer le sens et les motivations du cheminement réflexif qui conduit Ricœur de L’Homme faillible à Soi-même comme un autre et à Parcours de la reconnaissance . Pour ce faire, il s’efforce d’abord de montrer ce qui fait la continuité profonde, de problématique et de méthode, du projet anthropologique ricœurien; afin de dégager ensuite les difficultés centrales liées à l’idée d’une constitution poétique du soi, (...) qui conduisent Ricœur à réélaborer les concepts directeurs de son herméneutique du soi. A la lumière du dialogue constant de Ricœur avec la philosophie de Nabert, il tente enfin de montrer comment les concepts d’attestation et de reconnaissance trouvent, pour l’essentiel, leur genèse dans un approfondissement de la notion d’affirmation originaire, lui-même prolongé par une réflexion sur le témoignage.  . In 2019 the Western Australian government recategorised the dingo ( Canis dingo) as a wild dog ( Canis familiaris) whose status is legally declared to be a pest. Despite its iconic native status, Canis dingo has been rendered non-existent and liable to be disposed of by inhumane means. Dumped in a legal black hole via a signifying regime of signs, dingoes are confronted with the fact of their own non-existence. Regarding the dingo as a dingoing, a multiplicity and a process, (...) rather than a characteristic, I read the reclassification event symptomatologically and interrogate the constellations of symptoms and regimes of signs which legitimate the event and its performativity. I examine order-words including ‘pest’ and ‘wild dog’ to shift the focus from the words’ meaning to what they do. I subsequently enquire whether ‘dingo’ might become a pass-word, a component of passage, such that dingoes might exist under reprieve in a post-signifying regime. I argue that post-signifying regimes are codified, however, as subjects are individuated along lines of subjectification. I conclude by contemplating whether it is possible to break with subjectification, liberating these demonic nonhuman animals from the signifiers which territorialise them and permitting dingoes to become-animal. Rising exclusion rates indicate the continuing marginalisation of many young people in education in the UK. Working-class boys, children living in poverty, and children with additional/special educational needs are among those experiencing a disproportionate rate of exclusion. This book traces the processes of exclusion and alienation from school and relates this to a changing social and economic context. Jean Kane argues that policy on schooling, including curricular reform, needs to be re-connected to the broad political pursuit of social justice, (...) and presents compelling case studies of excluded pupils, showing the multi-faceted identities of pupils, with a particular focus on masculine and feminine identities. RESUME L’hypothèse que tente d’esquisser cet article est que l’idée ricœurienne d’une médiatisation dynamique des contradictions de l’imaginaire social présuppose une corrélation originaire de l’idéologie et de l’utopie qui ne peut elle-même être comprise qu’à partir de l’événement de l’institution d’un imaginaire social constituant. Dans un premier temps, l’article s’efforce de cerner ce qui fait la spécificité de la théorie ricœurienne de l’idéologie et de l’utopie comme « pratiques imaginatives », en soulignant à ce titre l’influence déterminante des thèses de (...) Jacques Ellul sur l’idéologie. Puis, dans un second temps, il s’engage dans une analyse régressive qui conduit de la réappropriation ricœurienne de la conception dialectique de l’idéologie et de l’utopie exposée par Mannheim à l’idée d’un fondement événementiel de ces deux formes opposées de l’imaginaire social. The first part of the paper marks out the specificity of the Ricœurian theory of ideology and utopia in terms of “imaginative practices”, underlining the determining influence of Jacques Ellul’s theses on ideology. The second part tries to develop a regressive argument, starting from the Ricœurian re-appropriation of Mannheim’s dialectical conception of ideology and utopia, and leading back to the idea of an event foundation for these two opposed forms of the social imaginary. The relationship Bruno Latour had with Adam Lowe illustrates the close link between art and technique, and the problem of representation. Thanks to 3D digitisation and rematerialisation techniques of cultural objects, Adam reproduces all kinds of artworks at all scales with an unprecedented degree of precision. He does not do that in the customary sense today of producing an image of them. Breaking with the division between physical objects and the digital world, Lowe really produces them again, creating their material (...) doubles in 3D, with their volume, their thickness, their grain. Latour was fascinated by Lowe’s project and its achievements, particularly in that they call into question the controversial problem raised by Walter Benjamin of the aura of works of art. Nous avons appris en effet le décès de Max Reinert survenu à Brest, le dimanche 28 janvier. Il avait 80 ans. Max avait exercé ses compétences d’ingénieur de recherche dans divers laboratoires dont le dernier fut le PRINTEMPS. Claude Dubar qui en était le Directeur en 2004 avait tenu à associer notre ami aux travaux de l’équipe fondatrice de la revue. Son implication dans le (...) projet éditorial s’est concrétisée d’emblée par une contribution dont témoigne le sommaire du premier numéro intitulé « Premiers Jalons ». Mais surtout le nom de Max Reinert est indissolublement lié au logiciel ALCESTE. Il en a été le créateur et s’en est fait le démonstrateur dans de nombreux colloques dont les JADT, les _Journées internationales d’Analyse statistique des Données Textuelles _auxquelles il a régulièrement participé depuis l’origine. En mars 2024, le Conseil supérieur des programmes du ministère de l’Éducation nationale a publié un projet d’éducation à la sexualité de la maternelle à la terminale. Il s’agit d’un sujet délicat et polémique, car en plus de traiter des questions liées à la sexualité, il aborde celle concernant le genre. Or, dès qu’il est question de genre, les débats s’enveniment. Ainsi, après une présentation du contexte actuel au sein duquel ce débat prend place, l’article reviendra sur la question de (...) la définition du genre. Puis il s’intéressera à quelques extraits d’un reportage sur la pédagogie de questionnement des normes de genre appliquée dès le plus jeune âge en Suède. We propose a class [I,S] of loss functions for modeling the imprecise preferences of the decision maker in Bayesian Decision Theory. This class is built upon two extreme loss functions I and S which reflect the limited information about the loss function. We give an approximation of the set of Bayes actions for every loss function in [I,S] and every prior in a mixture class; if the decision space is a subset of R, we obtain the exact set.

The article concerns the life paths and the complex situations of autism in Île-de-France (France). It is based on a participative research with professionals and beneficiaries of the Complex Situations of Autism Device (SCATED). The method is organized in 3 phases: 1°- analysis of the context of autism in Île-de-France through the exploitation of the national survey called “ES 2014”; 2°- co-construction between the research team and the professionals of the device of an updated database specific to the device, based (...) on the 2 100 complex autism situations monitored from 2010 to 2018, and the exploitation by the researchers of 452 situations extracted from this database; 3°- analysis of 11 diversified situations (32 interviews). The research offers a critical reading of behavioral disorders and analyzes the seven dimensions that participate in a process of reinforcing vulnerabilities in complex situations of autism. It makes a certain number of recommendations which are taken up by the Île-de-France Regional Agency as part of its strategic health plan. (shrink)

Consider a subjective expected utility preference relation. It is usually held that the representations which this relation admits differ only in one respect, namely, the possible scales for the measurement of utility. In this paper, I discuss the fact that there are, metaphorically speaking, two additional dimensions along which infinitely many more admissible representations can be found. The first additional dimension is that of state-dependence. The second—and, in this context, much lesser-known—additional dimension is that of act-dependence. The simplest implication of (...) their usually neglected existence is that the standard axiomatizations of subjective expected utility fail to provide the measurement of subjective probability with satisfactory behavioral foundations. We revisit the concept of de Sitter (dS) ‘tachyonic’ scalar fields, characterized by discrete negative squared mass values, and assess their physical significance through a rigorous Wigner-inspired group-theoretical analysis. This perspective demonstrates that such fields, often misinterpreted as inherently unstable due to their mass parameter, are best understood within the framework of unitary irreducible representations (UIRs) of the dS group. The discrete mass spectrum arises naturally in this representation framework, offering profound insights into the interplay between dS relativity and quantum (...) field theory. Contrary to their misleading nomenclature, we argue that the ‘mass’ parameter associated with these fields lacks intrinsic physical relevance, challenging traditional assumptions that link it to physical instability. Instead, any perceived instability originates from mismanagement of the system’s inherent gauge invariance rather than the fields themselves. A proper treatment of this gauge symmetry, particularly through the Gupta–Bleuler formalism, restores the expected characteristics of these fields as free quantum entities in a highly symmetric spacetime. This study seeks to dispel misconceptions surrounding dS ‘tachyonic’ fields, underscoring the importance of precise terminology and robust theoretical tools in addressing their unique properties. A presente pesquisa tem por finalidade demonstrar o fio condutor que rege toda a história universal para Immanuel Kant. A metodologia a ser utilizada se baseia na pesquisa qualitativa do tipo bibliográfica, pela qual trabalharemos a edição bilíngue (Alemão-Português) da obra: “Ideia de uma história universal de um ponto de vista cosmopolita”. É de se verificar que a história universal se ocupa da narrativa das ações humanas, a saber, de suas manifestações. Nesta perspectiva Kant busca uma apreensão filosófica da história (...) universal, acompanhando um plano oculto da própria natureza que busca efetivar uma constituição política perfeita. Assim para atingirmos nosso objetivo de explicitar o fio condutor da história universal, analisaremos primeiramente o homem como o único ser racional sobre a face da terra, como também, a exigência de se cultivar esta mesma razão no âmbito da espécie e da história. Em um segundo momento, trabalharemos o antagonismo como motor que desperta os talentos humanos e os faz superar sua tendência à preguiça. Temos aqui o aparecimento da “astúcia da razão” que se utiliza dos vícios (tais como: projeção, ânsia de dominação e vaidade) para alcançar o desenvolvimento cultural e garantir uma sociedade na qual a liberdade se expressa sob leis civis. Por fim, abordaremos ainda as relações internacionais entre Estados e a elaboração de um Estado cosmopolita universal. Chega-se ao resultado, que para Kant, o conjunto da história humana é a efetivação de um plano oculto da própria natureza que procura estabelecer uma constituição política perfeita tanto internamente, como, externamente. This paper is the text of a lecture given at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski on 2 November 2023 at the invitation of Professor Irena Kristeva. Its purpose is to retrace the path of my research, from the question of the Animal in the eighteenth century to the theme, at the same time, of the environment associated with the construction of the modern Ego and which gave rise to my latest book published in 2020: Figures of the Self and the (...) Natural Environment in the Eighteenth Century. Throughout, the common thread remains to understand the link between these two processes and the new Anthropology being established at the time, whether in terms of the new definition of Man in general in relation to the Animal, or of the Self in relation to the natural Environment. At the same time, this sensitivity to Nature paved the way for our contemporary ecology, both scientific and political. (shrink)

Si la vertu thérapeutique de la poésie se trouve dès longtemps au rang des « topoï », il nous a paru plus rare et plus intéressant de montrer en quoi Hypnos, c’est-à-dire Sommeil, y joue un rôle prépondérant, apportant le lieu o ù peut s’exercer cette vertu. Nous sommes soutenus dans notre réflexion par la scène sublime de L’Iliade au chant xxiii où Patrocle apparaît à Achille, terrassé par Sommeil, dans une dernière entrevue entre le vivant et le mort, que (...) seule la Poésie peut mettre en scène. Dans l’analyse de ce texte, la doctrine d’Henry Corbin avec son monde imaginal et sa familiarité avec la poésie soufie au Moyen Âge nous a été d’un puissant secours dans notre tâche. (shrink)

Le livre d’Anatole Lucet, issu de sa thèse de doctorat, soutenue en 2018 à l’ENS de Lyon, constitue la première monographie consacrée à la pensée du socialiste anarchiste allemand Gustav Landauer (1870-1919). Le fait qu’il s’agisse là d’un travail sans équivalent, y compris dans le pays d’origine de cet auteur, suffirait à lui seul à justifier l’existence d’un tel ouvrage. This volume argues that contemporary narratives resist such influences and evince a great deal of resilience by promoting an ecology of attention based on poetic options that develop an ethics of the particularist type. The contributors draw on critical and theoretical literature hailing from various fields: including psychology and sociology, but more prominently phenomenology, political philosophy, analytical philosophy (essentially Ordinary Language Philosophy), alongside the Ethics of Care and Vulnerability. This volume is designed as an innovative contribution to the nascent field (...) of the study of attention in literary criticism, an area that is full of potential. Its scope is wide, as it embraces a great deal of the Anglophone world, with Britain, Ireland, the USA, but also Australia and even Malta.
