The paper analyzes the acceleration of the history we are witnessing in our time, which is evident in a series of events and crises that mark the world we live in, especially after the start of the war in Ukraine, which have not occurred in such significant intensity and frequency since the end of the Second World War. Considering these events and crises, the paper discusses the thesis of a historian Eric Hobsbawm that the “short” 20th century that had lasted (...) as “the age of extremes” since the First World War ended with the fall of “communism” and the Berlin Wall, after which we in fact entered the 21st century. Contrary to this thesis and to the well-known thesis on the “end of history”, our paper presents the view that we are still “politically” in the 20th century, because in our time there are similar tensions between the great powers that marked the 20th century and which in general mark the modern world since Westphalian peace in the 17th century. This general thesis is explained by the observation of the most basic lines of the dialectics of modern European and world history. The paper concludes that we are not only “politically” living in the “long” 20th century, but we are still “politically” living in the “longest” classical Westphalian age, which has been lasting for three and a half centuries in the same dialectical contradictions of world politics. Ultimately, the paper also discusses the task of philosophy in the times of the so-called “acceleration of history”, such as ours, and concludes that philosophy as a discipline in these times is obligated to offer, with theoretical creativity, a fresh philosophy of history, explaining in wider perspective a series of actual international occurrences. Jerry Fodor has argued that concept acquisition cannot be a psychological or “rational-causal” process, but can only be a “brute-causal” process of acquisition. This position generates the “doorknob  DOORKNOB” problem: why are concepts typically acquired on the basis of experience with items in their extensions? Este artículo propone un análisis integral del pasaje de Lc 20, 45 - 21, 6 como una unidad literaria, utilizando el método narrativo para enriquecer la exégesis, la teología sistemática y la praxis de la comunidad eclesial. El pasaje en cuestión se presenta como una ilustración de la enseñanza de Jesús a sus discípulos y, al mismo tiempo, como una denuncia del sistema religioso dominante en su época. El texto destaca varios aspectos característicos del sistema religioso denunciado. Además, destaca la (...) presencia predominante de los escribas, quienes ejercían una gran influencia en el contexto religioso y social de aquel tiempo. También, se menciona la relación con el templo, que constituye un componente fundamental en la vida religiosa y social de la época. Asimismo, aborda la influencia de los ricos y la situación de la viuda, que refleja las injusticias y desigualdades existentes. Sin embargo, el pasaje va más allá de su aspecto denunciante y propone nuevas formas de relacionarse desde una perspectiva de existencia vital. Jesús expone y condena el abuso de poder dentro de la comunidad religiosa, invitando a sus discípulos a mantener una relación espiritual sana basada en una fe sólida, arraigada en una vida social justa. El artículo se estructura en dos partes principales. La primera parte explora el método narrativo como una herramienta para actualizar y comprender el texto en un contexto contemporáneo; mientras que la segunda parte pone de relieve las enseñanzas que emanan del texto y su aplicabilidad a la comunidad eclesial, a través de los conceptos de denuncia y normalización. An Internet-based competitive marketing game, FIFA 20, served to investigate the effectiveness of two opposite strategies in soccer-player auctions under semi-naturalistic conditions. Granting the validity of both causal principles, the anchoring principle giving an advantage to starting with a high price (Ritov, 1996) and the traffic principle underlying the starting-low advantage (Ku, Galinsky, & Murnighan, 2006), we nevertheless expected starting low strategies to produce higher end-prices under FIFA 20 conditions. Two experiments, each using multiple copies of two players from the (...) lowest price segment (Kramaric, Pizzi) and from an elevated price segment (Laporte, Martial), corroborated these expectations. A starting-low advantage was evident in two utility aspects, enhanced average (profit) and reduced variance (uncertainty aversion) of end prices obtained for player copies offered at lower starting prices. However, when the causal impact of the manipulated starting value was overshadowed by extraneous media influences, these findings were reduced or disappeared but never reversed. (shrink)
