Authentic leadership has appeared as a significant field of research. Building on social exchange theory that explicates how individuals mutually mechanize reciprocation and eventually establish a trust-based relationship, we postulated a positive relationship between authentic leadership and followers' organizational citizenship behaviors (OCB). Based on a two-wave time-lagged design, the data were obtained from 270 employees working in the private banking sector of Pakistan. We found that authentic leadership is positively associated with subordinate’s OCB, as well as, leads to a higher (...) level of both affective and cognitive-based followers' trust. The results also indicated that both affective and cognitive-based trust positively mediated the relationship between authentic leadership and OCB. This article explores the diverse experiences of Turkish rural migrant women in the city and how city living enters the definition of gender and the distribution of power in the migrant household. It draws on data collected in an ethnographic study of migrants in Ankara, Turkey, and examines whether this migration improves or deteriorates migrant women's position in the family. Specifically, it identifies four groups of migrant women and speculates on some of the factors that shape their diverse experiences. The (...) data reveal that city living affects the position of migrant women to varying degrees, depending on their particular Islamic sect; the demands made on them to assure family survival and achievement; and, to some extent, their age, socioeconomic status, educational level, position in the life cycle, and the status and economic wealth of the wife's family and the wife's relationship with it. This paper provides a detailed discussion of the questions relating to the role of the researcher in relation to the researched when the researcher and the researched are both of Muslim origin. Issues relating to questions of objectivity, transparency, bias and interpretation are elaborated upon as part of the analysis of impacts and outcomes in relation to methodological process. It is argued that, ultimately, the subjective positions of researcher and researched are less important than the objective nature of the research (...) process. The intention of this paper is to convey, to other Muslim and non-Muslim social researchers engaged in research on Islam and Muslims, how to avoid or identify the range of risks and pitfalls that may emerge in operationalising and evaluating social research in a highly charged political, cultural and social research arena. We investigate and analyze the dynamics of hepatitis B with various infection phases and multiple routes of transmission. We formulate the model and then fractionalize it using the concept of fractional calculus. For the purpose of fractionalizing, we use the Caputo–Fabrizio operator. Once we develop the model under consideration, existence and uniqueness analysis will be discussed. We use fixed point theory for the existence and uniqueness analysis. We also prove that the model under consideration possesses a bounded and positive solution. (...) We then find the basic reproductive number to perform the steady-state analysis and to show that the fractional-order epidemiological model is locally and globally asymptotically stable under certain conditions. For the local and global analysis, we use linearization, mean value theorem, and fractional Barbalat’s lemma, respectively. This study attempts to scrutinize Herbert George Wells’ The Island of Doctor Moreau according to Francesca Ferrando’s Posthumanism Theory (2009). It approaches vital issues and questions via the posthumanist criticism of the main character Dr. Moreau in the novel depending on the application issues of Ferrando’s theory. Wells’ The Island of Doctor Moreau (1896) presents a realistic reading of the modern debate of Posthumanism according to the moral and social world of human identity. Furthermore, this study exposes the importance of (...) Posthumanism as an essential concept in highlighting techno-science in current studies and futuristic ones. Thus, Wells’ novel deals with the effect of biotechnology and medicine on human identity, reflected in the theory of evolution and the posthuman theory. Embodied by Ferrando’s work, the study significantly aims to stimulate a new dimension of understanding, sympathy, interconnectedness, like-mindedness, and honor all species. Such a standpoint exposes the historical and scientific technology context of the novel. On the other hand, it shows the conceptual foundations of posthumanity embedded in the delusion of Charles Darwin’s On the Origin of Species (1859). The novel mirrors the impossible ethics of evolution theory in addition to the common problematic sympathy for all species whether human or nonhuman. (shrink)

This research delved into the dynamics between pride, sustainability detectability, and product consciousness through three experimental studies conducted among Chinese millennials focusing on lavish brand. Grounded in the positive emotions theory, this study sought to discern the circumstances in which individuals with materialistic tendencies exhibit willingness to engage with sustainable luxury brands. The results of this meticulous experimental design indicate a positive relationship between materialism and the intention to purchase sustainable luxury brands, with pride identified as a mediating factor, and (...) discussed the involvement of high conspicuousness of the product in the context of detectability of the brand's sustainability. Furthermore, this study offers insights through the positive emotion theory and examining the impact of self-conscious emotions on buyer preferences regarding sustainable luxury brands. The findings from this theoretical research provide valuable insights for brand managers, scholars, and policymakers aiming to develop sustainable brands that resonate with the sentiments and values of conscientious consumers. The rapid advancement of digital technologies and the evolving demands of the labour market have triggered transformative changes in the education and training landscape. In the era of cutting-edge technologies and digitalisation, traditional industry processes have been revolutionised, giving rise to new occupational profiles. Consequently, young talents entering the workforce need new competencies to cope with the infusion of rapid changes in technology. To address this, the integration of digital technologies in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) plays a (...) pivotal role in preparing individuals for Industry 4.0. The recent COVID-19 pandemic has further accelerated online and remote learning adoption, underscoring the imperative of digitalisation in TVET. The objective of this study is to identify strategies for technical TVET instructors to select content that is Industry 4.0 fit and can be implemented in TVET settings. Supported by evidence-based experts' recommendations, this study delves into instructional design strategies to enhance the quality of TVET in shaping Industry 4.0 ready talents. Developed through the consensus collective consensus, the model takes shape through the Nominal Group Technique (NGT) and Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM) approach and involves nine experts, with each having more than ten years of experience in mechanical and manufacturing-related diploma programmes from both public and private TVET institutes in Malaysia. These experts have a wealth of experience and bring diverse perspectives, contributing from varied portfolios, which include curriculum development, assessment, media, industry advisor to institute, teacher training, and management. The findings revealed six prioritised strategies to be focused on. These strategies converged into three themes: industry-relevant work process-oriented, bite-size and flexible, as well as focus on the higher cognitive domain. In South Sulawesi Province of Indonesia, stunting poses a significant challenge, with minimal reduction observed in recent years according to BPS data. Despite a notable increase in government spending to address stunting, this research aims to analyze the impact of government expenditures (DAK, Regional Expenditures, Village Funds) on the Human Development Index (HDI) and the prevalence of stunting in 2022. This quantitative study involves 21 districts and 3 cities in South Sulawesi Province. Quantitative analysis using Eviews 13 reveals that DAK, (...) Regional Expenditures, and Village Funds have a direct positive effect on increasing the HDI in Barru District but do not directly influence stunting reduction. Collaboration among various Local Government Agencies (OPDs), stakeholder training, and innovations like the "One Day One Egg" program contribute to addressing stunting. Cross-sectoral synergy is key in combating stunting in this region. (shrink)

“Toba Tek Singh,” which describes the exchange of mental asylum inmates between India and Pakistan in the wake of partition, was perhaps Saadat Hasan Manto’s most well-known short story.
