El artículo abordados expresiones religiosas, el movimiento neo-hinduistaSai Baba y la escuela budista “Zendo Betania”, y da cuenta de su origen y globalización para concentrarse en suimplantación en la Argentina. Asume que al inscribirse en nuestro país,dichos movimientos lo hacen, si bien de modo diferencial, conforme adeterminadas matrices sociales hegemónicas presentes en el ámbito nacional. A continuación, a partir del examen de lastécnicas corporales practicadas por estos grupos (la meditación), el trabajo avanza en la idea de que dichas prácticas redefinen (...) el esquema corporal de los participantes, promoviendo modalidades alternativas de subjetivación que confrontan aspectosdominantes de la cultura actual; específicamente, la concepción de la persona y sus vínculos con el entorno. En este sentido, el presente artículo se inscribe en una línea de trabajos que problematizanla corporalidad en las sociedades globalizadas contemporáneas, análisis que reconocenquesi bien las prácticas recitan normas hegemónicas,enfatizan a la vez que en esa misma repetición se dan puntos de fuga que operan transformaciones. Resumo: Nas comemorações de 40 anos do curso “Hermenêutica do Sujeito”, somos provocados a pensar a potencialidade dessa obra para colocar sob investigação um problema que as atualiza constantemente: a relação entre a subjetividade, verdade e o cuidado de si. Pois foi respondendo a essa provocação que elegemos uma aula de Filosofia numa escola particular para problematizar essa relação. A aula se desdobrou num trabalho em que os alunos eram desafiados a saírem de suas “zonas de conforto” e, assim, entrarem (...) contato consigo mesmos num trabalho de tomar-se como objetos de investigação e de produção de discursos verdadeiros sobre si mesmos. Um trabalho em especial nos chamou atenção e ele que vamos trazer para explorar essas relações do cuidado de si que se renovam na atualidade. Palavras-chave: Subjetividade; Verdade; Cuidado de Si; Educação “I left my comfort zone for the first time without realizing it” – subjectivity, truth and self-care Abstract: In the celebrations of 40 years of the course “Hermeneutics of the Subject”, we are provoked to think about the potential of this work to put under investigation a problem that constantly updates them: the relationship between subjectivity, truth and self-care. Because it was in response to this provocation that we chose a Philosophy class in a private school to problematize this relationship. The class unfolded in a work in which students were challenged to leave their “comfort zones” and, thus, get in touch with themselves in a work of taking themselves as objects of investigation and production of true discourses about themselves. One work in particular caught our attention and we are going to bring it to explore these relationships of self-care that are renewed today. A partir de una encuesta por correo electrónico a estudiantes de Ingeniería en el SAI de la UAMA en un contexto de enseñanza remota forzado por la pandemia, se caracteriza la gestión de la docencia, desde la visión de los estudiantes, se realiza un diagnóstico de los aspectos relacionados. Es un estudio transversal con un análisis cualitativo y descriptivo de las respuestas. La gestión docente se ve afectada por factores inherentes al proceso, así como también por factores externos. Los resultados (...) obtenidos muestran que fue impactada fuertemente al realizarse el proceso totalmente vía remota especialmente, la comunicación e interacción alumno-profesor. (shrink)

Cet article présente le contexte général ayant conduit à l’élaboration du Corpus de français parlé au Québec (CFPQ) et les principes méthodologiques ayant présidé à sa confection. Il illustre ensuite l’intérêt que représente cette ressource documentaire pour l’étude de la langue parlée en contexte informel par le biais d’un examen lexico-sémantique de la séquence je sais pas. L’intérêt pour cette séquence vient d’abord d’un constat : celle-ci est particulièrement fréquente dans le corpus pris comme cible. En effet, elle y occupe (...) le premier rang, en terme de fréquence, pour ce qui concerne la présence de trois unités graphiques figurant en contiguïté. Ce constat oriente vers l’idée selon laquelle son degré d’« entrenchment » (c’est-à-dire d’enracinement) doit être grand, qu’elle a toute chance d’être mémorisée en bloc dans un certain nombre de contextes, à la manière des séquences complexes ou expressions (semi-)figées. Para ello utiliza algunos de los textos teóricos de William Morris, Adolf Loos o Lewis Mumford y los pone en diálogo con otros de Theodor W. Adorno y otros representantes de la Escuela de Frankfort. De esta manera buscamos dar respuesta a las preguntas ya clásicas: ¿arte o diseño?, ¿forma o contenido?, ¿cuál es (...) el valor del diseño? (shrink)

Je sais que je vais mourir. J'espère " savoir " mourir. Je ne sais pas ce qu'est la mort. La mort n'est pas de l'ordre du savoir mais de la spéculation, nourrie par une épreuve chaque fois unique, chaque fois répétée. " Après la première mort il n'y en a plus d'autre ", lance le poète Dylan Thomas. Les poètes - anglais, surtout - n'ont pas peur de la familiarité avec la mort. Mais que peut-on espérer des philosophes comme Heidegger (...) qui nous clouent désespérément à l'horizon de notre propre mortalité? Pour la première fois depuis des siècles, nous vivons dans une non-représentation de la mort. Par scepticisme, athéisme, matérialisme ou " modernisme " affichés. Combien de temps croyons-nous pouvoir encore tenir dans un tel désert? Ne plus imaginer la mort c'est accepter, de fait, la mort de l'imagination. C'est mourir à la vie de notre vivant. La question adressée par ce livre à la philosophie, à la religion et à l'art est une affirmation joyeuse du rôle dévolu à la poésie en temps de détresse. (shrink)

Quiero que hablen los personajes y que defiendan su posición. Es un diálogo a tres bandas. El filósofo busca la bienaventuranza a través de la virtud y la dialéctica. Dice el filósofo que la salvación llega por la dialéctica y no por los ritos. El cristiano recuerda a los maestros (...) Guillermo y Anselmo que tenían una palabra fácil y que utilizaban muy bien la retórica. El judío, en cambio, coloca las palabras una junto a otra sin comprenderlas; es el gramático el que asegura la construcción perfecta de las frases, de la gramática.In this work I would like to see the relation in the Abelard’s Dialogue betwenn a Philosopher and the dialectic; a Christian and the rethoric and a Jew and the granmmar. I want that the charecters talk and discuss their position. It is a Dialogue of three people. The Philosopher look for the blessdness with the virtue and the dialectic. The Philosopher sais that the salvation come for the dialectic and no by the rites. The Christian remembers the teachers William of the Champeau and Anselm of the Laon who had the easy word and used the Rethoric vary good. Toujours, dans toute proposition affirmative veritable, necessaire ou contingente, universelle ou singuliere, la notion du predicat est comprise en quelque facon dans celle du sujet, praedicatum inest subjecto, ou bien je ne sais ce que c'est que la vetite. Parce qu'elles mettaient principalement l'accent sur les liaisons conceptuelles, les precisions de ce genre ont ete interpretees comme autant d'indices permettant de reconstituer le contenu du predicat de verite a partir de presupposes coherentistes. Dans le concensus qui s'est etabli sur ce (...) point, le role hermeneutique tres excessif accorde a la notion de systeme a eu une portee aussi considerable que le contenu des quelques textes generalement allegues. Si on admet, au contraire, qu'il y a bien une doctrine leibnizienne de la verite, alors on est amene a inscrire la position de Leibniz dans le contexte du debat relatif a l'adaequatio rei et a souligner davantage ce qui l'apparente a une theorie de la verite-correspondance. Cet argument principal est soutenu par des analyses de detail dans la logique. Un attention particuliere est apportee aux valeurs des variables du nouveau calcul, a la fonction du predicat de possibilite, au probleme relatif a la constantia subjecti et au statut des entites intensionnelles. L'image de l'ontologie leibnizienne s'en trouve modifiee et precisee: a la fois possibiliste et factualiste, elle est traversee de tensions importantes et occupe une place tout a fait singuliere dans cette partie de la philosophie qui connait aujourd'hui un si profond renouveau. Pourquoi la mort de quelqu'un est-elle toujours une sorte de scandale? Pourquoi cet événement si normal éveille-t-il chez ceux qui en sont les témoins autant de curiosité et d'horreur? Depuis qu'il y a des hommes, comment le mortel n'est-il pas habitué à ce phénomène naturel et pourtant toujours accidentel? Pourquoi est-il étonné chaque fois qu'un vivant disparaît, comme si cela arrivait chaque fois pour la première fois? Telles sont les questions que pose ce livre sur la mort. Dans chacun de (...) ses ouvrages, Vladimir Jankélévitch a essayé de saisir le cas limite, l'expérience aiguë : à son point de tangence avec ces frontières, l'homme se situe à la pointe de l'humain, là où le mystère, l'ineffable, le "je ne sais quoi", ouvrent le passage de l'être au néant, ou de l'être à l'absolument-autre. Il s'attache ici à analyser un événement considéré dans sa banalité et dans son étrangeté à la fois, dans son anomalie normale, son tragique familier, bref, dans sa contradiction. "Si la mort n'est pensable ni avant, ni pendant, ni après, écrit Jankélévitch, quand pourrons-nous la penser?". In Bernhard's novel Correction, a Cambridge professor sets himself the task of building an ideal house for his sister in the middle of a forest. The projected house is a Cone with which he seeks to make the art of construction approach “philosophical art in the highest degree”. The lines of connection with the biography of Ludwig Wittgenstein (1889-1951) are clear. Isn't it tempting to define Wittgenstein's philosophy with a simile of Loos' sweeping and cleaning operation in architecture and design? (...) I believe that Loos's critical stripping of the function/form/use triad served as an encouragement to Wittgenstein's thinking. For the philosopher, the meaning of a concept is in itself as rules of the game; it is nothing without its meaning and its meaning is nothing but its own use in the language games in which it may appear. A word, for example, becomes an interjection of assent by the game in which it appears, not by the form of the word. Wittgenstein thought that the greatest mistake of the philosophers of his generation, including G. E. Moore, was that when they analyzed language what they considered were word-forms and not the use made of those word-forms. How can one not find in these remarks of Wittgenstein's an echo of Loos's formula “meaning is use”? -/- En Corrección, la novela de Bernhard, un catedrático de Cambridge se da a la tarea de construir una casa ideal para su hermana en el centro de un bosque. La casa proyectada es un Cono con el que busca que el arte de la construcción se acerque “al arte filosófico en el más alto grado”. Las líneas de conexión con la biografía de Ludwig Wittgenstein (1889-1951) son claras. ¿No resulta tentador definir la filosofía de Wittgenstein con un símil de la operación de barrido y limpieza que realizó Loos en la arquitectura y el diseño? Creo que el despojamiento crítico que hizo Loos de la tríada función/forma/uso sirvió de aliento al pensamiento de Wittgenstein. Para el filósofo, el significado de un concepto está en él mismo como reglas del juego; no es nada sin su significado y su significado no es nada sino su propio uso en los juegos de lenguaje en que puede aparecer. Una palabra, por ejemplo, se convierte en interjección de asentimiento por el juego en que aparece, no por la forma de la palabra. Wittgenstein pensaba que el mayor error de los filósofos de su generación, incluido G. E. Moore, era que cuando analizaban el lenguaje lo que consideraban eran formas de palabras y no el uso que se hacía de esas formas de palabras. ¿Cómo no encontrar en estas observaciones de Wittgenstein un eco de la fórmula de Loos “el significado es el uso”? O ensaio, em jeito de crítica/crítica, procura olhar para a Universidade na sua dimensão político-organizacional. Através de uma reflexão interpretativa, apoiada na constatação empírica e na literatura - uma metodologia que sai dos cânones de uma metodologia científica de investigação - tenta “escavar” a Universidade e mostrar dois tipos de homo-politicus que nela existem: o “homo-violentus” (o homem - “violento”) e o “homo-sabius” (o homem - “sábio”). Estes dois tipos de homos (por certo, existem outros tipos) então “encarnados” nos decisores, (...) gestores, professores, investigadores, estudantes etc. Destes dois tipos de homos vamos ter formas de intervenção política, cultural, científico/investigativa, educativo/pedagógico e humana diferenciadas - nas expressões informação, conhecimento, sabedoria - e, com elas, consequentes implicações na missão da própria Universidade. Le sceptique nous demande " Comment sais-tu que tu as deux mains? Peut-être rêves-tu, ou es-tu trompé par quelque Malin Génie? Peut-on même définir ce que c'est que la connaissance? Va savoir! " Lui rétorquer, comme le faisaient G.E. Moore et la tradition de la philosophie du sens commun : " Mais je sais bien que j'ai deux mains! " semble à la fois une pétition de principe et une bien mauvaise réponse. Le mieux, depuis que nous avons perdu le (...) souci de fonder nos croyance sur des raisons ultimes, serait, tout simplement, de ne pas se soucier des questions du sceptique. Ce que l'on sait dépend, nous dit-on, des circonstances, et toutes nos connaissances sont faillibles. N'y a-t-il pas plutôt des savoirs, dont l'histoire nous montre combien leurs modes de validations sont variés? Ce livre entend refuser ce type de réponse contextualiste et relativiste. Il propose de revenir à la réponse de sens commun de Moore, à partir des reformulations contemporaines des raisonnements sceptiques issues de la philosophie analytique de la connaissance. Personne ne peut nous envoyer savoir quelque chose que nous ne pourrions pas savoir. De fait, nous savons, mais notre savoir n'est pas transparent : nous n'avons pas besoin de savoir que nous savons. Pour parvenir à cette réponse, il faut replacer la notion de connaissance, plutôt que celle de croyance justifiée ou rationnelle, au centre de l'épistémologie, et reformuler des questions traditionnelles comme celles de la nature de la perception, du témoignage, et de la connaissance a priori. On peut aussi reprendre le vieux projet d'une enquête sur la nature de la connaissance en général. (shrink)

Deux vers du poète Jules Supervielle portent jusqu’à une expression claire cette expérience encore obscure : Voilà que je me surprends à t’adresser la parole, Mon Dieu, moi qui ne sais encore si tu existes. Les cinq leçons dont se compose L'idée de la phénoménologie furent prononcées à l'Université de Göttingen, en avril-mai 1907. Husserl traversait alors une crise tant personnelle (le retard persistant à l'accès au statut de professeur ordinaire en philosophie) que théorique (aucune publication depuis les Recherches logiques de 1900-1901, mal comprises d'ailleurs par ses contemporains. D'où une nouvelle décision: " En premier lieu, je nomme le problème général que je me dois de résoudre pour moi, si je veux pouvoir me donner (...) le titre de philosophe. Je veux dire une critique de la raison (...). J'ai plus qu'assez goûté aux tourments de l'obscurité, du doute qui va et vient. Je dois parvenir à une intime assurance. Je sais bien qu'il s'agit là d'une grande, d'une très grande chose, je sais bien que de grands génies y ont échoué et, si je voulais me comparer à eux, je devrais me désespérer par avance. " (Journal, en date du 25 septembre 1906, Hua., I, p. VII-VIII). De cette crise, Husserl sortira en atteignant la certitude du Je transcendantal dégagé par la réduction phénoménologique. Mieux, de cette crise sortira la réduction phénoménologique elle-même. Du coup la phénoménologie deviendra, selon les mots mêmes de Husserl, d'une " psychologie descriptive ", une " phénoménologie transcendantale ". (shrink)

La parole est l'entre-deux qui sépare et unit moi et le monde, moi et toi, moi et moi-même. On se demande quelle est la relation entre moi et ma parole, si la parole découle de l'essence même de mon être. Une analyse phénoménologique, qui partirait du dialogue comme d'un donné indubitable, ne suffit pas tout à fait, puisqu'il il s'agit d'un sens éventuel du dialogue pour le tout de mon être. Il faut donc aborder la question d'un point de vue (...) d'où le dialogue lui-même est mis en suspens. Commençons par l'indubitable absolu : l'être. Il y a quelque chose, quoi que ce soit, il y a au moins la question même de l'être. Mais cette question qui se met elle-même en question, se sait être. Et qu'est cela sinon moi-même, pas encore opposé, il est vrai, à toi, à lui, à nous ? Pourtant je ne suis pas l'être ; il y a en moi une dualité entre essence et être, et une dualité entre être et penser. Je sais que je suis, je cherche encore qui je suis. Eh bien, je suis « ici et maintenant » , c. à. d. je suis dans un ordre spatio-temporel, par mon corps, qui est donc ce qui m'exprime à moi-même, ma parole. Mais mon corps est originellement en commerce avec les êtres du monde, et j'ai le sentiment de cette situation par la perception et le comportement. En révélant le sens des êtres du monde, en leur donnant des noms de mon point de vue, je me nomme moi-même. En revenant sur la voie parcourue jusqu'ici, l'article démontre que ce n'est pas seulement mon monde que je nomme. Le « moi » de la certitude absolue est un « nous » pas encore détaillé. Et à l'intérieur de ce « nous » jaillit, par ta foi en moi, l'opposition communicative entre moi et toi, que j'expérimente surtout dans la corrélation de la voix et de l'ouïe. La parole fonde la communauté, puisqu'en exprimant mon être elle s'adresse à vous, et manifeste ainsi mon être comme « être-avec » . L'être même est infini, et donc communicabilité pure, et donc parole. Mais notre parole humaine n'est que participation déficiente de la communication immédiate qui serait l'identité de l'être, le connaître et l'aimer. Elle reste moyen, et donc succédané de l'immédiat, et donc ambigue. Notre dialogue doit se transcender dans l'inexprimable, dans le silence. La parole essentielle, la parole de l'amour, est pour les hommes la parole la plus dangereuse et la plus incertaine. Elle ne se prouve que par la fidélité. Mais tout ce que nous disons et faisons est destiné à devenir l'incarnation de cette parole. (shrink)

Provision of additional food supplements for the purpose of biological conservation has been widely researched both theoretically and experimentally. The study of these biosystems is usually done using predator–prey models. In this paper, we consider an additional food provided predator–prey system in the presence of the inhibitory effect of the prey. This model is analyzed in the control parameter space using the control parameters, quality and quantity of additional food. The findings suggest that with appropriate choice of additional food to (...) predators, the biosystem can be controlled and steered to a desirable state. It is also possible to eliminate either of the interacting species. The vital role of the quality and quantity of the additional food in the system dynamics cautions the eco manager on the choice of the additional food for realizing the goal in the biological conservation programme. The advent of artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things has revolutionized user experience with objects. Things can perform social roles and convey persuasive messages to users, posing an important research question for communication and human-computer interaction researchers: What are the factors and underlying mechanisms that shape persuasive effects of IoT? Bridging the reactance theory and the computers are social actors paradigm, this study focuses on how power dynamics are shaped in human-IoT interactions and its implications on persuasion. Specifically, the (...) study examines the effects of the social role assigned to the IoT mobile app agent and the scope of IoT controlled by the app on users’ perceived power and subsequent persuasive outcomes. The results reveal that when the mobile IoT app is for controlling a smart home, the servant agent elicits greater perceived power over IoT for users, leading to less threat-to-freedom and better persuasive outcomes, including attitude, intention, and actual behavior. However, such a difference is not observed when the mobile app is for controlling a single smart device. The study findings offer valuable implications for communication practitioners interested in using IoT as a persuasive tool. (shrink)

Cyclin-dependent kinase 5 has been implicated in Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis. Here, we demonstrate that overexpression of p25, an activator of cdk5, led to increased levels of BACE1 mRNA and protein in vitro and in vivo. A p25/cdk5 responsive region containing multiple sites for signal transducer and activator of transcription was identified in the BACE1 promoter. STAT3 interacts with the BACE1 promoter, and p25-overexpressing mice had elevated levels of pSTAT3 and BACE1, whereas cdk5-deficient mice had reduced levels. Furthermore, mice with a (...) targeted mutation in the STAT3 cdk5 responsive site had lower levels of BACE1. Increased BACE levels in p25 overexpressing mice correlated with enhanced amyloidogenic processing that could be reversed by a cdk5 inhibitor. When pandemics hit communities, women are bound to suffer as most of the responsibilities of ensuring food security lie on them. This article assesses the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the role that church-going women play in food provision. The qualitative study used interviews and focus group discussions to examine the toll of the pandemic-induced restrictions, especially with regard to their disruption of activities that ensure the provision of food for the family. They sought to identify how an environment (...) as restrictive as the one that was imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic affects those largely responsible for food provision in urban Marondera – the women, in this case. The focus was extended to factor in how disasters and pandemics affect women and detract from their normative food procurement and provision roles in marginal societies and how these effects can be mitigated to allow women to carry on with their roles even in restrictive environments. This research was motivated by the recent COVID-19-imposed regulations that restricted the movement of people, restrictions that have only recently been relaxed and (in some cases) removed. We also sought to establish how gender roles are played out, together with whether they are exacerbated by pandemics, and in what ways these pandemics result in higher workloads on women. By utilising the Africana womanist theory, the study analysed women roles in food provision and food security in their societies within the restrictive environments of the pandemics.Contribution: This study concluded that there are gender inequalities that are exacerbated by these pandemics that result in higher workloads for women. It foregrounded how existing gender inequalities were exacerbated by the pandemic, resulting in higher workloads on women. It therefore recommended that women should form empowerment groups to help focus attention on food provision to mitigate challenges women face in this role. Finally, we averred that there ought to be consultation and participation of women on issues to do with pandemics to allow for their full and productive participation in critical roles of providing food. As M. Loux has recently reminded us, there are two basic strategies for explaining the character of particular objects, the ‘relational approach’ and the ‘constituent approach’. The prime example of a constituent approach would be Aristotelian hylomorphism. This article reveals three things. First, it gives a roadmap towards what the author considers to be the exegetically correct reconstruction of Aristotle’s hylomorphic theory. Second, it provides a presentation of the basic claims of a neo-Aristotelian hylomorphic theory, the one argued for by (...) M. Johnston. Finally, it argues that regardless of whatever shortcomings it may have, Aristotle’s theory has an advantage over that proposed by Johnston. Unlike Johnston’s theory, it may give us a complete account of the character of a particular object. (shrink)

The life and work of Kim Iryŏp (1896–1971) bear witness to Korea’s encounter with modernity. A prolific writer, Iryŏp reflected on identity and existential loneliness in her poems, short stories, and autobiographical essays. As a pioneering feminist intellectual, she dedicated herself to gender issues and understanding the changing role of women in Korean society. As an influential Buddhist nun, she examined religious teachings and strove to interpret modern human existence through a religious world view. Why and how do women engage with Buddhism and philosophy? The present volume aims to answer these questions by examining the life and philosophy of a Korean Zen Buddhist nun, Kim Iryŏp (1896–1971). The daughter of a pastor, Iryŏp began questioning Christian doctrine as a teenager. In a few years, she became increasingly involved in women’s movements in Korea, speaking against society’s control of female sexuality and demanding sexual freedom and free divorce for women. While in her late twenties, an (...) existential turn in her thinking led Iryŏp to Buddhism; she eventually joined a monastery and went on to become a leading figure in the female monastic community until her death. -/- After taking the tonsure, Iryŏp followed the advice of her teacher and stopped publishing for more than two decades. She returned to the world of letters in her sixties, using her strong, distinctive voice to address fundamental questions on the scope of identity, the meaning of being human, and the value of existence. In her writing, she frequently adopted an autobiographical style that combined her experiences with Buddhist teachings. Through a close analysis of Iryŏp’s story, Buddhist philosophy and practice in connection with East Asian new women’s movements, and continental philosophy, this volume offers a creative interpretation of Buddhism as both a philosophy and a religion actively engaged with lives as they are lived. It presents a fascinating narrative on how women connect with the world—whether through social issues such as gender inequality, a Buddhist worldview, or existential debates on human existence and provides readers with a new way of philosophizing that is transformative and deeply connected with everyday life. This dissertation is an ontological investigation of value. The thesis is this: Value is a moment founded on a real entity and, in this sense, value is real. I argue that this thesis is true for all objects in the domain of value by looking at three distinct categories of value: economic value, aesthetic value, and moral value. And I demonstrate by means of advancing definitions, and the necessary and sufficient conditions for each of these three categories of value, that (...) this thesis is the essential glue that holds all values in the realm of social reality as part of the genus value. There are two restrictions to this thesis. One restriction is that the real existence of value is possible only if there is a relation of correspondence between a value judgment and its referent. A false value judgment, then, fails to correspond to its intentional target so there is no possible value. The other restriction is that the value entities are either concrete objects that have at least temporally come into being, or actual states of affairs with a spatial and temporal location. Both of these restrictions combined imply that no future states of affairs, or objects which either have not or cannot come into being, can be objects of value.
