This paper investigates the concept of behavioral integrity from three important foci in organizational settings: i.e., leader, organization, and follower. Drawing from theories of behavioral integrity, social learning, and social identity, we examine the effects of leader and organizational behavioral integrity on follower behavioral integrity and organizational citizenship behavior via follower identification with leader and with organization, respectively. To test our hypotheses, we used data from three studies. Studies 1 and 2 were online experiments in which behavioral integrity was manipulated (...) in written scenarios to explore the proposed causal relationships. Study 3 was a multisource field study that tested a mediation model using matched data collected from 280 employees and their co-workers from a Fire and Rescue Service in the United Kingdom. The findings provide partial support for our hypothesized model and highlight the importance of examining multiple foci of behavioral integrity as well as the role of follower identification as key mediating mechanisms of the relationship between leader and organizational behavioral integrity and follower behavioral outcomes. BackgroundChildhood experiences can exert a huge impact on adult psychological conditions. Previous studies have confirmed the effects of adverse childhood experiences and benevolent childhood experiences on psychological distress separately, but few studies explored a combined effect of ACEs and BCEs on psychological distress. The aim of this study was to explore a combined effect of ACEs and BCEs on psychological distress among Chinese undergraduates.MethodsParticipants were undergraduates aged 17–24 years and completed a self-reported questionnaire. A series of regression analyses were conducted (...) to examine the association between childhood experiences and psychological distress.ResultsA total of 65.7% of undergraduates had BCEs, 27.1% of undergraduates had ACEs, and 12.9% of undergraduates had ACEs and BCEs simultaneously. Logistic regression analysis indicated that undergraduates who experienced high ACEs were more likely to have a high risk of psychological distress [odds ratio = 1.46, 1.84, and 3.15 for uncertainty stress, depressive symptoms, and suicidal ideation, respectively], while undergraduates who experienced High BCEs were less likely to have psychological distress compared with Low-Both group. The combined effect of ACEs and BCEs could also play as a protective factor in uncertainty stress and depressive symptoms.ConclusionOur findings suggested that ACEs and BCEs could not only predict the psychological distress independently, but also BCEs could counteract the negative effect of ACEs in psychological problems. There is an even greater need to identify and support the victims of ACEs and to increase BCEs in early childhood. (shrink)

Evidences are important proofs to support judicial trials. Automatically extracting evidences from judgement documents can be used to assess the trial quality and support “Intelligent Court”. Current evidence extraction is primarily depended on sequence labelling models. Despite their success, they can only assign a label to a token, which is difficult to recognize nested evidence entities in judgment documents, where a token may belong to several evidences at the same time. In this paper, we present a novel evidence extraction architecture (...) called ATT-MRC, in which extracting evidence entities is formalized as a question answer problem, where all evidence spans are screened out as possible correct answers. Furthermore, to address the data imbalance problem in the judgement documents, we revised the loss function and combined it with a data enhancement technique. Experimental results demonstrate that our model has better performance than related works in evidence extraction. (shrink)

As the labeling costs in legal artificial intelligence tasks are expensive. Therefore, it becomes a challenge to utilize low cost to train a robust model. In this paper, we propose a LAIAugment approach, which aims to enhance the few-shot learning capability in legal artificial intelligence tasks. Specifically, we first use the self-training approach to label the amount of unlabelled data to enhance the feature learning capability of the model. Moreover, we also search for datasets that are similar to the training (...) set by improving the text similarity function. We conducted experimental analyses for three legal artificial intelligence tasks, including evidence extraction, legal element extraction, and case multi-label prediction, which composed of 3500 judgement documents. The experimental results show that the proposed LAIAugment method has an average F1-score of 72.3% on the three legal AI tasks, which is 1.93% higher than the baseline model. At the same time, it shows a huge improvement in few-shot learning. (shrink)

BackgroundIndividuals with mind-wandering experience their attention decoupling from their main task at hand while others with flow experience fully engage in their task with the optimum experience. There seems to be a negative relationship between mind-wandering and flow. However, it remains unclear to what extent mind-wandering exerts an impact on flow. And it is also elusive whether physical activity and mindfulness, which are as important factors that affected individuals’ attentional control and psychological health, are beneficial in explaining the association between (...) mind-wandering and flow. The current study investigated the relationship between mind-wandering and flow, and the potential mediation effects of physical activity and mindfulness in this association.MethodsA cross-sectional exploratory study design, including multiple scales such as the Mind-Wandering Questionnaire, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form, Mindfulness Attention and Awareness Scale, and the Short Dispositional Flow Scale was applied. Descriptive statistics and bivariate correlation coefficients were applied in the analysis of these data. A multiple mediation model was used to examine the relationships between mind-wandering, flow, physical activity, and mindfulness.ResultsMind-wandering was inversely associated with physical activity, mindfulness and flow, respectively; and flow was positively related to physical activity and mindfulness, respectively. Moreover, multiple mediation results demonstrated that physical activity and mindfulness, respectively, mediated the relationship between mind-wandering and flow.ConclusionThese findings are helpful to understand how our minds attend to the present moment, and the crucial roles of physical activity and mindfulness in the association between mind-wandering and flow. An implication of these is the possibility that the effective strategies aimed at enhancing both the levels of physical activity and mindfulness are needed to reduce the negative impact of mind-wandering on flow. Named entity recognition is a subtask in natural language processing, and its accuracy greatly affects the effectiveness of downstream tasks. Aiming at the problem of insufficient expression of potential Chinese features in named entity recognition tasks, this paper proposes a multifeature adaptive fusion Chinese named entity recognition model. The model uses bidirectional long short-term memory neural network to extract stroke and radical features and adopts a weighted concatenation method to fuse two sets of features adaptively. This method can better integrate (...) the two sets of features, thereby improving the model entity recognition ability. In order to fully test the entity recognition performance of this model, we compared the basic model and other mainstream models on Microsoft Research Asia and “China People’s Daily” dataset from January to June 1998. Experimental results show that this model is better than other models, with F1 values of 97.01% and 96.78%, respectively. (shrink)

The youngest generation of students prefers a more active learning style. Sandwich teaching may suit their learning style by alternating between active individual learning and passive collective learning. Sandwich teaching has been rarely applied to the Community Nursing Course for nursing students, and its teaching effects on this course remain unclear. This study applied Sandwich teaching to the Community Nursing Course for Chinese nursing undergraduates and investigated its effects on students' critical thinking, self-learning ability, course experience, and academic performance. This (...) is a quasi-experimental study with 72 Chinese nursing undergraduates. Students receiving traditional teaching were enrolled in the control group, and those who received Sandwich teaching were recruited into the experimental group. Both groups received the 12-week, 90-min Community Nursing Course. Our main outcome variable, including students' critical thinking, self-learning ability, and course experience, was assessed by specific questionnaire. The paired t-tests were applied to compare the differences of the same group in the pre-test and the post-test, and the independent-sample t-tests were used to compare the differences between the two groups. We observed that nursing students' critical thinking ability and self-learning ability were significantly improved after receiving Sandwich teaching. Students' course experience of Sandwich teaching was significantly better than that of traditional teaching. The final exam score in the experimental group was not significantly higher than that in the control group. These results suggest that Sandwich teaching in Community Nursing Course improved Chinese nursing undergraduates' critical thinking, self-learning ability, and course experience, but failed in improving academic performance. Abusive supervision has long been found to have remarkably negative impacts on individual and organizational outcomes. Accordingly, prior studies have explored many organizational and supervisory predictors of abusive supervision and offered several interventions to reduce it. However, extant research lacks the bottom-up perspective to explore how employees can act to reduce abusive supervision, which is an important factor that enriches abusive supervision literature and helps employees protect themselves from being abused. Drawing on self-disclosure theory, we develop a model of whether (...) and how employee boundary blurring behavior may protect them from being abused by their supervisors. Specifically, we conducted two studies to test the theoretical model, including a scenario-based experimental study and a multi-source, multi-wave field study. The results reveal a negative indirect effect of employee boundary blurring behavior on abusive supervision via supervisor liking toward the employee. By uncovering employee boundary blurring behavior as an antecedent of abusive supervision, we enrich the abusive supervision literature with a bottom-up behavioral strategy for employees to proactively protect themselves from being abused. We hope our findings will encourage future studies to identify boundary conditions and other solutions for employees to minimize the risk of being abused. (shrink)

The philosophical pursuits of ancient civilizations, notably the Pre-Qin Chinese and Ancient Greeks, revolved around the concepts of "Dao" and "Truth" respectively. These foundational ideas not only shaped their respective cultures' views on metaphysics and ethics but also influenced their understanding of the divine and human nature. This paper examines the conceptual parallels and distinctions between "Dao" in ancient Chinese philosophy and "Truth" in ancient Greek philosophy, emphasizing their implications for religious and ethical thought. Despite significant advancements in international relations (...) theory in China since 1978, contemporary Chinese scholarship has yet to develop a comprehensive theory influenced by ancient philosophical principles. This research revisits the Pre-Qin texts, particularly focusing on the Confucian concept of "Harmony," which has perennially shaped the moral and psychological fabric of Chinese society. By comparing these ancient notions, this paper seeks to contribute to the philosophy of religion by illustrating how these classical ideas offer valuable insights into modern issues of global ethics and public mental health. ObjectiveCancer and its treatments affect patients’ fertility potential. This study examined the prevalence of reproductive concerns and their relationship with metacognitions among Chinese young adult female cancer survivors.MethodsA total of 318 YAFCS completed an online survey from March to December 2021. Participants reported sociodemographic characteristics, reproductive concerns and metacognitions. Reproductive concerns were measured using the Reproductive Concerns after Cancer scale, and metacognitions were measured by the Short Form of Metacognitions Questionnaire. We used Pearson correlation analysis to examine associations between metacognitions (...) and reproductive concerns across multiple domains and multivariable linear regression to determine the influencing factors of reproductive concerns.ResultsThe mean score of reproductive concern among YAFCS was 49.97 ± 12.52. A total of 57.9% of participants reported a high level of concern regarding at least one dimension of reproductive concerns, and they were most concerned about their child’s health and least concerned about partner disclosure of fertility status. We also found a moderate association between RCAC and MCQ-30 scores. In multivariate analyses, metacognitions, especially negative metacognitive beliefs had an impact on reproductive concerns among YAFCS.ConclusionHigher reproductive concerns were associated with higher metacognitions among YAFCS, especially with negative metacognitive beliefs. Oncology professionals should pay attention to assessing reproductive concerns in patients who want to have children or who have no children. Moreover, metacognitive beliefs may be an intervention target for alleviating reproductive concerns among YAFCS. (shrink)

이 논문은 상박초간 『주역』 감괘(欽卦)를 중심으로 중국고대 점복문화를 살펴보고 이를 바탕으로 점서였던 『주역』의 경문을 유가가 어떻게 유가 윤리로 만들어갔는가를 밝히고자 하는 것이다. 상박초간 『주역』 감괘는 현행본의 함괘(咸卦)에 해당하며 ‘감(感)’의 뜻으로, 괘 전체의 주제는 남녀 간의 육체적 사랑과 결혼이다. 청화간(淸華簡) 『서법(筮法)』 등 고대의 점술에 남녀 간의 결혼을 점친 예는 상당히 많은데 이런 자료들도 감괘가 단순히 사랑과 결혼에 대한 점술이었다는 것을 증명한다. 상박초간 『주역』과 마왕퇴백서 『주역』의 감괘 효사 및 현행본 함괘 효사를 비교분석해보면 상박초간본 → 마왕퇴본 → 현행본으로 변해가는 모습을 찾아볼 수 있다. (...) 이는 『주역』 텍스트가 많은 변화를 거쳐 현재의 모습으로 이루어졌음을 보여주는 증거다. 한편 『순자』 「대략(大略)」편, 현행본 『주역』 「단전(彖傳)」은 함괘의 주제를 남녀 간의 사랑과 결혼에서 추상화하여 부부의 도, 나아가 음양 ‘이기(二氣)’의 철학으로 확대한다. 이러한 확대는 결국 자연철학 방면으로는 세계, 우주를 구성하는 ‘이기’의 감응에 의한 만물생성론을, 인간사회 방면으로는 성인의 감화를 통한 천하화평을 주장하는 데에까지 나아간다. 「서괘전」도 함괘를 ‘부부의 도리’로 보고 이에 기초하여 부자, 군신, 상하, 예의로까지 확대시킨다. 「서괘전」이 함괘를 서술할 때 ‘남녀’가 아닌 ‘하늘과 땅’으로 시작하고 있는 것은 「단전」의 논의를 바탕에 두고 있기 때문이다. 이처럼 우주적 질서에서 시작하여 인간의 예의로 귀결을 맺는 것은 철저한 유가적 사유로, 따라서 「서괘전」이 만들어진 시점에서 『주역』의 유교경전화는 이미 완성되어 있었다고 생각된다. ‘廟’字는 西周時代의 金文에서 처음 보이기 시작한다. 宗廟가 군신 간의 ‘朝의 의례’가 주로 이루어지는 곳이라는 점을 표현하기 위해 廟의 造字 과정에서 ‘朝’자가 활용되었는데, 그 과정에서 朝자 ‘月’ 부분의 형태에 변형이 생겼다. 朝와 廟 金文의 ‘月’ 부분은 모두 개울물 형상을 나타내고 있다. 廟자에서의 개울물 형태의 ‘月’은 周代와 그 이전 대의 대형 건축물에 설계된 排水道를 표현하고자 한 것으로 보인다. 西周時期 宮廟遺跡地로 陝西省 扶風縣의 雲塘과 齊鎭을 들 수 있으며, 春秋時期의 것으로는 陝西省 鳳翔縣 馬家莊 1호와 馬家莊 3호 유적지를 논할 수 있다. 그것들 대부분 堂廂分離式의 品자 (...) 형태를 보이는 건축군들로 구성되어 있다. 독특하게 보이는 마가장 3호 유적지는 남북으로 길게 자리 잡은 터에 다섯 부분으로 구획되어 있는데, 이 역시 두 組의 品자형 건축군이다. 한편 위의 경우처럼 가까운 거리에 한 組 이상의 대형 건축군들이 존재하는 것은, 당시 다수의 廟를 소유할 수 있는 규정에 의한 것으로 보인다. 아울러 ‘天子七廟·諸侯五廟···’ 등의 소유 廟數가 규정대로 지켜졌는지는 회의적이며, 그 배열 역시 태조 묘를 중심으로 昭·穆의 나란한 정렬이 아닌 산발적 배치로 봐야 할 것이다. 周代의 종묘는 治朝의 공간으로서, 각종 종교적·정치적·외교적인 의례가 이행되던 곳이었다. 秦代 이후 제사 의례와 정치·외교 의례의 분리가 진행되면서, 宗廟는 先君의 제사 의례를 이행하는 장소로만 불리게 되었고, 정치적·외교적 기능 및 거주공간으로서는 ‘(황)궁’이라는 새로운 명칭을 부여하였다. 宮은 원래 일반적인 ‘집’의 의미로 사용된 용어였지만, 시황제 이후로는 ‘최고통치자의 집’으로만 쓸 수 있게 되었다. 『孟子』에서 文王의 發政施仁과 같은 王政을 펼치는 곳이라고 설명한 ‘明堂’은, 殷周交替期에도 實在했던 것이지만, 春秋時代 이전까지는 그 용어의 사용 흔적이 보이지 않는다. 그것은 戰國時代에 유행하기 시작했던 五行 및 時令思想에 의해 새롭게 형성된 용어이기 때문이다. 明堂은 布政과 朝禮 祭禮 養老 敎化를 펼치는 正殿의 기능을 했던 군주의 포괄적인 정치활동 장소로서, 宗廟 太廟 廟堂 太室 등으로도 불린다. 그러한 명당⋅종묘제도는 戰國 末을 거치면서 완전히 계승되지 못하였고, 漢初에 와서야 막연한 상상과 구전으로 그 본연의 의미를 상실한 채 단편적인 부분만 전해지게 되었다. 따라서 漢나라 때부터 明堂은 布政 및 祭禮 (...) 시설로, 宗廟는 先君을 위한 제례 시설로, 그 두 가지를 별개의 건축물로 인식하게 되었다. 殷周交替期 즈음에 조성된 辟雍은 周나라 천자가 귀족자제들을 위해 설립한 學宮으로 알려져 있지만, 실제로는 그보다 더 다양한 기능을 했던 곳이다. 辟雍을 중심으로 강물이 ‘둥근 옥[璧]’처럼 環抱된 모습이라는 그곳의 자연 환경은, 마치 그곳이 천연적인 요새인 것처럼 보이게 한다. 벽옹은 왕이 거처하는 특정한 마을을 가리키는 것이거나, 그 마을의 중심부에 있는 왕의 통치 장소이다. 辟雍 안에는 靈臺를 함께 조성하였다. 『白虎通義』⋅『大戴禮記』⋅『蔡中郞集』 등에서 논한 것을 종합하면, 靈臺가 곧 明堂이며 동시에 廟堂이 된다. 바로 그곳에서 王이 布政을 행하였다. 그 때문에 明堂을 廟堂 위 북쪽에 위치한 太室인 路寢을 가리키기도 한다.
