Perceived threat in compliance and adherence research.Roger Carpenter - 2005 - Nursing Inquiry 12 (3):192-199.
Within the broader agenda of adherence research, health beliefs have been identified as being significant predictors of adherence. Specifically, perceived threat as a health belief has received considerable attention in compliance and adherence research from multiple perspectives in multiple patient populations. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the concept of perceived threat as it relates to treatment adherence through a series of perspectives: conceptual, methodological, and empirical. Analysis of the literature reveals that there is lack of consistency in (...)

Confucianism and Deweyan Pragmatism.Roger Ames (ed.) - 2021 - Honolulu: University of Hawaiʻi Press.
Over the past generation, the rise of East Asia and especially China, has brought about a sea change in the economic and political world order. At the same time, global warming, environmental degradation, food and water shortages, population explosion, and income inequities have created a perfect storm that threatens the very survival of humanity. It is clear now that the Westphalian model of individual sovereign states seeking their own self-interest will not be able to respond effectively to this win-win or (...)

Reason and commitment.Roger Trigg - 1973 - Cambridge [Eng.]: Cambridge University Press.
Can we justify our most basic beliefs about morality, religion and the nature of the world? Can there be a rational and objective way of choosing between alternative societies, modes of life or world-views? Dr Trigg shows how philosophical analysis is relevant to these questions and criticizes the tendency to emphasize notions of commitment and convention at the expense of truth and reason. He draws parallels between issues that are often too isolated from each other and identifies a cluster of (...)

  26. The problem of the problem of induction.Roger White - 2015 - Episteme 12 (2):275-290.
To solve the problem of induction we had first better know what it is. Some ways of formulating the worry about induction are underwhelming as they depend on assumptions that don’t survive much scrutiny. Perhaps the most disturbing argument for inductive skepticism appeals to the claim that we could not possibly be justified in taking our inductive methods to be reliable independently of our use of those methods. And the use of inductive methods cannot give us justification to suppose that (...)

Der Dialog bei Ramon Llull: literarische Gestaltung als apologetische Strategie.Roger Friedlein - 2004 - Tübingen: M. Niemeyer. Edited by Ramon Llull.
