Nicolae Iorga jest postacią o dużym znaczeniu w historii i kulturze Rumunii. Bardzo często wypowiadał się o sprawach polskich w szerokim tego słowa znaczeniu, zarówno w kwestiach akademickich, jak i politycznych. Zaangażowanie Iorgi w Polskę jest widoczne niemal nieprzerwanie w trakcie jego kariery naukowej i politycznej. Od czasów szkolnych po jego tragiczną śmierć Polska i jej sprawy były obecne w jego działalności także za sprawą jego nauczycieli, profesorów czy późniejszych partnerów politycznych. Dzięki wykształceniu historycznemu Iorga postrzegał Polskę jako (...) ważnego partnera Rumunii na arenie międzynarodowej, jako gwarancję bezpieczeństwa politycznego, ale także ważnego partnera w kontekście rozwoju kulturalnego. Jako inicjator kursów języka i kultury rumuńskiej na Uniwersytecie Jagiellońskim, Nicolae Iorga otrzymał tytuł doktora honoris causa Uniwersytetu Wileńskiego w 1931 r. za ważną rolę w umacnianiu stosunków między Polską a Rumunią. Un des grands quotidiens roumains – Adev£rul – publiait il y a trois ans à la Une un reportage réalisé dans une petite ville des Carpates, VÃlenii de Munte. Connue en Roumanie surtout parce que l’historien Nicolae Iorga, figure quasi mythique de l’historiographie et du nationalisme roumains, assassiné par la Garde de Fer1 en 1940, y avait.

Intuitively, collective nouns are pseudo-singular: a collection of things (a pair of people, a flock of birds, etc.) just _is_ the things that make ‘it’ up. But certain facts about natural language seem to count against this view. In short, distributive predicates and numerals interact with collective nouns in ways that they seemingly shouldn’t if those nouns are pseudo-singular. We call this set of issues ‘the distribution problem’. To solve it, we propose a modification to cover-based semantics. On this semantics, (...) the interpretation of distributive predicates and numerals depends on a cover, where the choice of cover is strongly semantically constrained by the noun with which they interact. Connected devices, such as smartphones and tablets, are exposed to a large variety of attacks. Their protection is often challenged by their resource constraints in terms of CPU, memory and energy. Security chains, composed of security functions such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems and data leakage prevention mechanisms, offer new perspectives to protect these devices using software-defined networking and network function virtualization. However, the complexity and dynamics of these chains require new automation techniques to orchestrate them. This chapter describes an (...) automated orchestration methodology for security chains in order to secure connected devices and their applications. This methodology exploits process learning to establish behavioral models and infer security constraints represented as logical predicates. It then generates and merges a set of chains of security functions on the basis of these predicates. These chains are finally compiled into low-level configuration rules and deployed into the network, optimizing for the underlying topology. The benefits and limits of such a methodology combining machine learning and verification techniques are evaluated by a set of experimental results. (shrink)

This paper offers a framework for consciousness of internal reality. Recent PET experiments are reviewed, showing partial overlap of cortical activation during self-produced actions and actions observed from other people. This overlap suggests that representations for actions may be shared by several individuals, a situation which creates a potential problem for correctly attributing an action to its agent. The neural conditions for correct agency judgments are thus assigned a key role in self/other distinction and self-consciousness. A series of behavioral experiments (...) that demonstrate, in normal subjects, the poor monitoring of action-related signals and the difficulty in recognizing self-produced actions are described. In patients presenting delusions, this difficulty dramatically increases and actions become systematically misattributed. These results point to schizophrenia and related disorders as a paradigmatic alteration of a ''Who?'' system for self-consciousness. (shrink)

In the third edition of ‘Practical Ethics’ (2011), Peter Singer reexamines the so-called “replaceability argument,” according to which merely sentient beings, as opposed to persons (self-conscious and with a robust sense of time), are replaceable—it is in principle permissible to kill them provided that they live pleasant lives that they would not have had otherwise and that they be replaced by equally happy beings. On this view, existence is a benefit and death is not a harm. Singer’s challenge is to (...) avoid (i) the replaceability of persons while preserving the replaceability of merely sentient beings, (ii) the implication that parents are morally required to procreate if they can have happy children, and (iii) to do avoid these implications without having the proposed solution (the “debit view” of preferences) imply negative utilitarianism, or the conclusion that a nonsentient universe is better than any sentient universe. I review Singer’s changing views since 1975 and I argue that his attempt to avoid the replaceability of persons fails: either both non-persons and persons are replaceable or neither are. Singer can only avoid this conclusion by appealing to controversial metaethical claims (attitude-independent moral objectivism) and/or giving up on essential features of utilitarianism. (shrink)

Robert Nozick famously argued that acknowledging that individuals have certain fundamental natural or prepolitical rights to their lives and property does not preclude the legitimacy of the state, as the individualist anarchist would claim. The reason is that “a state would arise from anarchy. . . even though no one intended this or tried to bring it about, by a process which need not violate anyone’s rights”. Many doubts have been raised about some of the claims that Nozick needs to (...) make to reach this conclusion. Doubts have also been raised about the normative relevance of that conclusion for the moral evaluation of states that did not arise in such a way. But even if all these doubts were unfounded, Nozick’s argument falls short of justifying what, according to the anarchist challenge, is in need of justification. This shortcoming is significant because it reminds us about the true nature of the problem that the state poses for any philosophical outlook grounded on a theory of natural, libertarian rights. El artículo propone efectuar una contribución al análisis del consumo en el capitalismo contemporáneo desde una perspectiva que reformula reflexivamente algunas categorías de la crítica de la economía política marxiana. La tesis de que el paso histórico a la sociedad de consumo puede entenderse en términos de la subsunción real del valor de uso al capital funciona como hilo conductor del estudio de sus principales mecanismos, atendiendo especialmente a la profundización de los mismos desde la crisis del llamado “fordismo”.

The so-called “Fragment on Machines” of Marx has become in recent decades one of his most revisited texts. This has undoubtedly occurred under the influence of the reading carried out by the school of thought known as Italian autonomism, for whom this text would anticipate the stage of capitalism that opens after the crisis of the 1970s. The “Fragment” would theoretically articulate this stage in terms of a “crisis of value measurement” that would result from the impossibility of framing the (...) new form acquired by labor in “postfordism” into the social norm of working time. The fundamental task of this article is to discuss this interpretative key of the “Fragment” and conceptually articulate its central elements in order to undertake an alternative reading of it, which would also have the potential to critically analyze current capitalism. Sometimes I feel that Sorgner's ideas can foresee the questions I can ask about his philosophy. But I cannot claim that he is a prophet of Apollo. Instead, his latest work continues to embrace a Dionysian constant, showing the reaches of an ontology of per-manent becoming and putting into practice his own understanding of philosophy, namely an "Intellectual War of Values". Such a statement is Hera-clitean and, therefore, also Nietzschean. In this sense, Philosophy of Posthuman Art is not a work (...) independent of the author's other works, but a necessary consequence of his global intellectual production. (shrink)

Ce volume collectif montre que l'herméneutique fictionnalisée permet de réfléchir sur les procédures de l'interprétation, de penser les limites de la fiction et de prendre en charge des discours que les disciplines savantes ne sont pas toujours en situation de produire.

Cet article propose deux mises à l’épreuve d’une modélisation du rôle du contexte dans l’interprétation des actes de parole. Selon notre modèle, les processus interprétatifs se déroulent généralement à partir d’hypothèses contextuelles sur le genre de discours pratiqué par le ou les énonciateur(s) du texte. Ces hypothèses sont activées à l’aide d’indices pluri-sémiotiques péritextuels et textuels. Un intertexte générique est alors mobilisé et oriente les processus interprétatifs, en particulier s’agissant de l’attribution des valeurs illocutoires et interactives probables des actes de (...) parole. La récurrence de ces valeurs constitue en retour des indices potentiels du genre de discours en cours. La première mise à l’épreuve de ces hypothèses s’appuie sur l’analyse « globale » de trois corpus : vingt-quatre interactions télévisées, leur péritexte et le péritexte des émissions les incluant. Cette analyse nous a permis d’observer des correspondances entre différentes configurations lexicales et morphosyntaxiques et quatre schémas d’actes de parole mis en évidence dans une précédente recherche. Dans un second temps, nous mettons en évidence certaines incidences interprétatives plus « locales » des prescriptions génériques, à l’aide d’une analyse des parcours probables de nos interprétations au palier de la période. Simondon and Deleuze are the philosophers of intensity: thinking the intensity of being rather than its formal a priori is for them the path to the “true transcendental.” The true transcendental, according to these two post-Kantian philosophers, would be the conditions of real experience, which are not dictated by a reason anticipating the relation to phenomena, but by individuation. This reversal priviledges the process of openness to difference as a production of the unexpected for knowledge. To be individuated, for Simondon (...) as for Deleuze, is to learn to overcome a certain logic of representation, based on the principle of identity, by giving precedence to singularities: the individual is not only a thinking substance cutting up the world according to its categories, but also an active nature facing the unknown. But one might ask how the individual can be identified and develop if it is constituted, at its expense, from intensive relations and experiences that it cannot synthesize in the understanding. Does individuation ultimately make sense? Simondon and Deleuze agree that consciousness is nothing without a synthesis of unification: this possibility for consciousness of unifi ng the diversity of experience, of maintaining a unity in plurality, refers to the preindividual, which defines in Simondon a field of ontological freedom, that is, of multiple individuations enriching the Self. For Deleuze, in his careful reading of Simondon, it is the place of the emission of singularities in the process of intensive individuation. In both cases, it is a question of defining a new form of subjectivity, closer to the realities of experience, of what we might call the transductive forms of sensibility. (shrink)

¿Cuál es la utilidad de la filosofía y las humanidades? El planteo resurge, esporádicamente, en la forma de argumentos vinculados a cierta racionalidad económica de la política presupuestaria y científica, dando por sentado que estamos de acuerdo en el concepto mismo de utilidad, e ignorando con frecuencia la historicidad del término en el contexto de la evolución de las teorías económicas. Evolución que, luego de la revolución keynesiana del pensamiento disciplinar, condujo a no pocas paradojas conceptuales. Este artículo se propone (...) recapitular brevemente las vicisitudes del concepto de utilidad, para luego revisitar las mencionadas paradojas a las que condujo el planteo keynesiano, con el propósito de abordar, finalmente, algunos de los rasgos sistémicos que tal vez permitan responder oblicuamente a la impropia pregunta que da inicio al texto. A partir dos anos 1970, os métodos de pesquisa participativa sediada em comunidades ganharam pouco a pouco crédito no campo das pesquisas aplicadas, ocasionando mutações epistêmicas e éticas nas práticas de pesquisa com participantes humanos. Este artigo apoia-se sobre um exemplo de pesquisa 'ecossistêmica' em saúde ambiental, conduzida em parceria entre pesquisadores universitários (Canadá e Brasil) e habitantes das margens de um rio da Amazônia brasileira, o Tapajós. Esse exemplo ilustra as tensões que afetam o quadro conceitual no qual são (...) habitualmente colocadas as questões de ética da pesquisa com participantes humanos, principalmente os princípios cardeais retirados do relatório Belmont, e muito particularmente aqueles de beneficência e de justiça. Esse gênero de prática científica implica um desdobramento da responsabilidade dos pesquisadores, entre a pesquisa e a ação. (shrink)

En el presente escrito se considera una interrogante planteada por Heidegger en la pregunta por la técnica (Die Frage nach der Technik), vale decir, la pregunta por una determinación esencial de la técnica, en relación con los planteamientos orteguianos sobre ella. Específicamente, intentaremos abordar una cuestión que Acevedo (1997) insinúa en su introducción a la pregunta por la técnica, vale decir, si es que acaso las reflexiones de Ortega sobre la técnica —especialmente por su marcada consideración en relación con la (...) vida humana como proyecto— se quedan en el plano de una mera determinación correcta —como relación medio-fin antropológica— o bien podrían eventualmente trascender dicho esquema en favor de un tratamiento fenomenológico que vincula la técnica con lo más hondo de la existencia del hombre. It is commonly assumed that moral deliberation requires that the alternatives available in a choice situation are evaluatively comparable. This comparability assumption is threatened by claims of incomparability, which is often established by means of the small improvement argument (SIA). In this paper I argue that SIA does not establish incomparability in a stricter sense. The reason is that it fails to distinguish incomparability from a kind of evaluative indeterminacy which may arise due to the vagueness of the evaluative comparatives (...) ‘better than,’ ‘worse than,’ and ‘equally as good as.’. Se comparan los comentarios realizados por Cayetano a la noción de justicia expuesta por Santo Tomás en S. Th. II-II, qq. 57-62. A partir de las notas recabadas, se ofrece una síntesis de la definición brindada por el Cardenal. Acudiendo a la noción de «tripartición» explicamos las fundamentales diferencias que encontramos entre los comentarios de Tomás de Vio y la doctrina de Tomás de Aquino. Finalmente, nos explayamos en algunas consideraciones con respecto a los alcances prácticos que tal noción implica (...) para la reflexión Ética. Cet article introduit l’hypothèse de l’oppression nécropolitique des sans-abris. Nous partons d’une analyse métaphorologique de propos tenus par les sans-abris sur leurs conditions d’existence, souvent décrites comme impliquant l’expérience vécue paradoxale d’une indifférenciation tendancielle entre la vie et la mort. Nous essayons de conceptualiser le contenu de ces descriptions en faisant appel au concept de nécropolitique développé par Norman Ajari dans le contexte des études critiques de la race. La nécropolitique sera comprise ici comme un idéal-type de gouvernance de la (...) vie ne se réduisant ni à la biopolitique, ni à la thanatopolitique, mais visant plutôt à brouiller les frontières qui séparent la mort de la vie. La nécropolitique est ce qui rend la vie quotidienne des sans-abris proprement invivable, aboutissant à cette vie vécue sous forme-de-mort dont font état les témoignages de certaines personnes sans-abri.This article introduces the hypothesis of the necropolitical oppression of the homeless. We begin with a metaphorological analysis of the discourses held by certain homeless persons regarding their conditions of existence, often described as involving the paradoxical experience of a tendential undifferentiation of life and death. We then build on the concept of necropolitics elaborated by Norman Ajari in the context of critical race theory. Necropolitics will be understood here as an ideal-type of the governance of life reducible neither to biopolitics nor to thanatopolitics. Instead, the rationality of necropolitics as a form of oppression consists in constantly blurring the frontiers of life and death. In the case of the homeless, necropolitics is rendering their everyday life literally unlivable, an experience reflected in the analyzed testimonies of homeless persons. (shrink)
