This article shows how, starting from Schelling and Henry, one can build a radical critique of objectification and subjectification within humanities. This critique opens the way for the construction of a point of view of immanence, which is characterized by the experimentation of a constitution of affects in a process from which proceeds the subjectivity. This point of view of immanence questions the accepted attitudes in the production of social relationships and the norms that govern them, so as to increase (...) the attention to the vulnerability of these processes and their power to transform the affects. L’article tente une analyse prospective des positions de Fichte en théorie du langage à partir d’un texte de jeunesse sur la faculté langagière. La thèse consiste à établir un lien avec la construction fichtéenne de cette faculté et l’origine des approches structurales héritières du formalisme russe, en particulier chez Jakobson et Vygotski.

Cet ouvrage se base sur un travail exégétique fouillé de l'idéalisme religieux postkantien. Son objectif est de parvenir à montrer l'utilité d'un tel exercice pour notre intelligence contemporaine des phénomènes religieux. La thèse défendue est que l'idéalisme postkantien est la première tentative systématique de théorie non dogmatique de la religion et que s'il parvient à ce tour de force après Kant, c'est parce qu'au lieu d'en rester à une approche minimaliste des contenus de croyance en rapport aux limites de la (...) raison, tant théorique que pratique, il déplace son angle d'approche vers le sujet croyant. Pour y arriver, il crée une matrice épistémologique qui lui permet de comprendre comment l'expérience du sujet croyant, la foi, agit sur sa perception de soi, des autres et du monde, au point d'introduire en lui une forme de variation affective, de trouble pulsionnel, qui engage des choix comportementaux. Si Fichte ouvre sur cette base une voie vers une thérapeutique du soi et une théorie critique de la religion, Schelling, pour sa part, est plus sensible à une économique holistique du développement de la vie dont un auteur comme Agamben permet de mieux saisir aujourd'hui tous les enjeux. Dans les deux cas, ce tournant épistémologique ouvre l'espace dans lequel les sciences humaines des religions pourront élaborer leurs discours au XXe siècle. Mais en reconsidérant l'origine de ce mouvement d'émancipation épistémologique à l'égard des croyances religieuses, force est aussi de reconnaître qu'un souci qui guidait les idéalistes en se concentrant sur le sujet croyant était de parvenir à maintenir le lien entre ces ordres de croyance et la capacité politique du vivre ensemble. C'est ce lien qui nous semble devoir être réactivé aujourd'hui dans nos tentatives de penser les phénomènes religieux sans établir de cassure entre une vision herméneutique et une vision politique. Antes que económicos, éticos, o estrictamente sanitarios, los desafíos de la actual coyuntura son, sobre todo, políticos. Los sistemas de salud puestos en tensión, la coordinación entre los múltiples niveles de la gobernanza sanitaria, los planes de urgencia y de prevención que fueron o han debido ser puestos en marcha son todos constructos políticos, el fruto de mecanismos colectivos de decisión, el resultado de un conjunto de elecciones políticas. No basta, sin embargo, con detenernos a auditar un sistema tras un (...) choque planetario, más real que todos los simulacros que hubiéramos podido siquiera imaginar. También nuestra inteligencia colectiva ha sido aporreada. La urgencia y el pánico ante la subestimación de los riesgos y la falta de preparación para ellos han conducido a medidas drásticas, inéditas, que nos han hecho recordar los tiempos más sombríos del siglo XX. Algo ha cambiado radicalmente y todavía no estamos en condiciones de nombrarlo; lo presentimos, evidentemente, lo sabemos en parte en relación con la puesta en cuestión de las certezas y con la obligación de adoptar otras costumbres, otros modos de relacionarnos, otros hábitos de trabajo, de vida y aun de amar a nuestros seres queridos. This article relates four concepts present in the thought of Édouard Glissant (poetics, optionality, exteriority, and unlearning) to show that they are also present in different authors of decolonial theory. These concepts lead us out of the framework of modern hypercriticism and allow us to enter into a philosophy of relation that opens up new possibilities for intercultural encounters. Through the constant recourse to the contrast between Glissant and the decolonial school, the text goes through its classic themes, such as (...) the coloniality of power, knowledge and being, and decolonial pedagogy and feminism. Aux idéologies de lutte et de transformation sociales ont succédé sur l'avant-scène de la philosophie politique occidentale les pensées positives du droit et de la communication, axées sur les problèmes de régulation et d'intégration sociales. Ce phénomène, qui s'accompagne d'une critique radicale des philosophies modernes du pouvoir et de l'État, est pourtant marqué aussi par un embarras devant la persistance des questions collectives liées à la formation de véritables complexes répressifs postmodernes, tel celui de l'autolégitimation médiatique des grandes instances de (...) régulation sociale (l'État et l'économie). Il semble même que l'occultation de ces questions en lien à la violence sociale et à l'aliénation manifeste plutôt un effacement du thème politique dans la pensée d'aujourd'hui au profit d'une pragmatique générale articulée à une phénoménologie du monde vécu. L'éviction des thèses marxiennes est symptomatique à cet égard. Après avoir pris la mesure de ces impasses, l'auteur tente de renouer avec une pensée de l'action sociale capable de prendre en compte le défi politique que représente l'exercice collectif de la responsabilité, jusqu'en son enracinement dans la genèse singulière de l'engagement personnel pour habiter et préserver un monde commun. En analysant les modèles bibliques de l’obéissance mobilisés par Spinoza dans son Tractatus, cet article tente de montrer les limites d’une représentation statique de l’autorité démocratique fondée sur le rapport intellectuel à un lieu vide de la puissance publique. La thèse défendue est qu’une telle représentation manque le rôle de la puissance commune de l’imagination qui permet de modifier les comportements privés suivant les modes de l’autorité collective que sont la justice et la charité. Le rôle du philosophe politique consiste (...) précisément à dissocier dans l’imaginaire de l’obéissance à l’autorité souveraine le pouvoir de modification des comportements privés du seul désir de soumission à un grand sujet. The study of current forms of governance sheds light on « forms of social experiment » based on collective participation. The effectiveness of a system of rules relies less on realizing a subsumption justifying the inner validity of a procedure than on the « power to infer the production of a satisfying form of social life ». This is why « the question of the law’s normativity is displaced from the formal coherence of its semantic content towards its pragmatic potential (...) of governance as a social institution ». It is therefore urgent to invent new forms of social cooperation able to counter the agents’ « opportunism » in their attempts to seize the new opportunities opened by the crisis of classical institutions. In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in unethical work behavior. Several types of survey instruments to collect information about unethical work behavior are available. Nevertheless, to date little attention has been paid to design issues of those surveys. There are, however, several important problems that may influence reliability and validity of questionnaire data on the topic, such as social desirability bias. This paper addresses two important issues in the design of online surveys on unethical work behavior: the (...) response scale for questions regarding the frequency of certain types of unethical work behavior and the location of the background questions in an online survey. We present the results of an analysis of a double split-ballot experiment in a large sample (n = 3,386) on governmental integrity. We found that, when comparing response scales that have labels for all categories with response scales that only have anchors at the end, the latter provided answers with higher validity. The study did not provide support for the conventional practice of asking background questions at the end. (shrink)

In this paper, our analysis lays on two different levels. Firstly, we dis­cuss the central concepts of the early Russian structuralism within an epistemological framework focusing on the way in which linguistic knowledge is structured. In order to achieve this goal, we mobilize the concept of episteme developed by Michel Foucault in his works The Order of Things (1966) and The Archaeology of Knowledge (1969). This Foucauldian approach leads us to highlight a new epis­teme which is different from those that (...) Foucault described in the Order of Things. Secondly, we analyze the political and social impli­cations of this epistemological approach in the context of European and (post)colonial history. We highlight the material “action” of the linguistic knowledge under discussion. This second dimension of our approach is important insofar it represents a critic of the idea accord­ing to which the theoretical knowledge is separated from praxis. Our hypothesis is that the language constitutes a marker of particular so­cial interests, which are overdetermined by power relations. (shrink)

This article aims to interpret the Althusserian critique of ideology in order to put forth the mechanisms at work within the relation of belief that constitutes every ideology and to insist on its practical consequences on the relation between the intellectual and the masses. To do so, we will draw upon Althusser’s review of humanism, upon his commentaries of the work of Montesquieu and Rousseau, and upon his conception of ideology in the article from 1970 on ‘Ideology and Ideological State (...) Apparatuses’ and in other texts of the same period. By focusing on an analysis of the functioning of belief within the three cardinal forms of ideology, we will highlight the importance of putting into place a social critique attentive to the repetition of the relations of belief with regard to enabling truly transformative actions. De nouvelles théories, pragmatistes en particulier, de l’action collective et de l’expérimentation sociale insistent sur le rôle joué par les résistances locales dans les processus d’innovation politique. Toutefois, cette insistance ne se traduit pas nécessairement, dans les réformes de la démocratie, par une réflexion approfondie sur la manière de faire évoluer en conséquence les mécanismes d’apprentissage institutionnel. Or une telle évolution est une condition pour que le rôle joué par les résistances locales puisse dépasser le stade d’alibi ou de faire-valoir (...) de manière à transformer leur propre rapport au pouvoir et à déstabiliser les contre-résistances institutionnelles au changement. Research on behavioral ethics is thriving and intends to offer advice that can be used by practitioners to improve the practice of ethics management. However, three barriers prevent this research from generating genuinely useful advice. It does not sufficiently focus on interventions that can be directly designed by management. The typical research designs used in behavioral ethics research require such a reduction of complexity that the resulting findings are not very useful for practitioners. Worse still, attempts to make behavioral ethics (...) research more useful by formulating simple recommendations are potentially very damaging. In response to these limitations, this article proposes to complement the current behavioral ethics research agenda that takes an ‘explanatory science’ approach with a research agenda that uses a ‘design science’ approach. Proposed by Joan van Aken and building on earlier work by Herbert Simon, this approach aims to develop field-tested ‘design propositions’ that present often complex but useful recommendations for practitioners. Using a ‘CIMO-logic’, these propositions specify how an ‘intervention’ can generate very different ‘outcomes’ through various ‘mechanisms’, depending on the ‘context’. An illustration and a discussion of the contours of this new research agenda for ethics management demonstrate its advantages as well as its feasibility. The article concludes with a reflection on the feasibility of embracing complexity without drowning in a sea of complicated contingencies and without being paralyzed by the awareness that all interventions can have both desirable and undesirable effects.
