This paper presents a human-computer interaction model with a three layers learning mechanism in a pervasive environment. We begin with a discussion around a number of important issues related to human-computer interaction followed by a description of the architecture for a multi-agent cooperative design system for pervasive computing environment. We present our proposed three- layer HCI model and introduce the group formation algorithm, which is predicated on a dynamic sharing niche technology. Drawn upon optimum stimulation level theory, and in view of the impact of mobile terminal usage on tourist decision-making, the present study aims to investigate how personality influences tourist trip planning behavior in the mobile era. A sample of 344 respondents in China completed measures of sensation seeking, travel risk perception, smartphone usage, as well as tourist planfulness. Results indicated that sensation seeking was negatively associated with tourist planfulness and travel risk perception partially mediated this association. Besides, both the direct (...) effect of sensation seeking on tourist planfulness and the indirect effect of travel risk perception were moderated by smartphone usage, in that these effects were stronger for tourists with a high-level of smartphone usage than those with low-level smartphone usage. This study can significantly advance existing research on tourist behavior from the perspective of personality and reconfiguring our traditional understanding on tourist decision-making in the mobile era. Emotional creativity refers to a set of cognitive abilities and personality traits related to the originality of emotional experience and expression. Previous studies have found that emotional creativity can positively predict posttraumatic growth and mental health. The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has posed great challenges to people’s daily lives and their mental health status. Therefore, this study aims to address the following two questions: whether emotional creativity can improve posttraumatic growth and mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic and (...) how it works. To do this, a multiple mediation model has been proposed, which supposes that emotional creativity is associated with posttraumatic growth and mental health through perceived social support and regulatory emotional self-efficacy. The study involved 423 participants from multiple regions with different COVID-19 involvement levels. Participants were asked to complete a questionnaire with six parts, which included Emotional Creativity Inventory (ECI), Regulatory Emotional Self-Efficacy Scale (RES), Stress-Related Growth Scale-Short Form (SRGS-SF), Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support scale (MSPSS), Brief Symptom Inventory-18 scale (BSI-18), and COVID-19-related life events questionnaire. Path analysis used to examine the mediation model indicated that under the control of COVID-19-related life events and age, perceived social support mediated a positive association between emotional creativity and posttraumatic growth as well as a negative association between emotional creativity and all mental health problems, including somatization, depression, and anxiety. Regulatory emotional self-efficacy mediates the association between emotional creativity and posttraumatic growth, emotional creativity and anxiety, and emotional creativity and depression. The results suggest that emotional creativity plays an important role in coping with stressful events related to COVID-19. Furthermore, these results might provide a better understanding of the possible paths through which emotional creativity is related to psychological outcomes, such as mental health and posttraumatic growth. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the tourism economy has been seriously affected. China has implemented a direct traveling management mechanism and recovered from the pandemic faster than the rest of the world. However, the COVID-19 situation is complicated and uncontrollable because of the available unclear information including difficult medical terminologies. This study attempts to find the determinants of the travel intention of China’s tourists in the post-COVID-19 epidemic. Along with information overload and perception risk, an expanded research model of the Theory (...) of Planned Behavior was employed to propose the theoretical framework of this study. A survey was conducted among 518 tourists who spend their holiday in Hainan, which is a popular tourist destination in China. The empirical results show that information overload positively and significantly impacted perceived risk. Furthermore, perceived risk negatively affects the intention to travel. Perceived risk also negatively affected the attitude toward traveling. However, response self-efficacy did not have a significant effect on the intention to travel. Finally, based on the analysis results, this study proposes relevant research contributions and practical recommendations with management implications for the travel industries. (shrink)

Patients with Wilson’s disease suffer from prospective memory impairment, and some of patients develop cognitive impairment. However, very little is known about how brain structure and function changes effect PM in WD. Here, we employed multimodal neuroimaging data acquired from 22 WD patients and 26 healthy controls who underwent three-dimensional T1-weighted, diffusion tensor imaging, and resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging. We investigated gray matter volumes with voxel-based morphometry, DTI metrics using the fiber tractography method, and RS-fMRI using the seed-based (...) functional connectivity method. Compared with HC, WD patients showed GM volume reductions in the basal ganglia and occipital fusiform gyrus, as well as volume increase in the visual association cortex. Moreover, whiter matter tracks of WD were widely impaired in association and limbic fibers. WM tracks in association fibers are significant related to PM in WD patients. Relative to HC, WD patients showed that the visual association cortex functionally connects to the thalamus and hippocampus, which is associated with global cognitive function in patients with WD. Together, these findings suggested that PM impairment in WD may be modulated by aberrant WM in association fibers, and that GM volume changes in the association cortex has no direct effect on cognitive status, but indirectly affect global cognitive function by its aberrant functional connectivity in patients with WD. Our findings may provide a new window to further study how WD develops into cognitive impairment, and deepen our understanding of the cognitive status and neuropathology of WD. (shrink)

ObjectiveThe study aimed to enhance the learning motivation of college physical education students and improve their learning outcomes. Based on the perspective of the self-determination theory, this study explores the influence of “Small Private Online Course + flipped classroom” teaching on the learning motivation of students majoring in physical education and profoundly analyzes the influencing factors and promotion paths of learning motivation using this model.Materials and methodsA total of four classes of physical education majors in a university were selected and (...) randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group received “SPOC + flipped classroom” teaching, the control group received traditional teaching. Before and after the 16-week intervention, learning motivation, teacher support perception, basic psychological need satisfaction, and academic emotions of the 64 students were measured, and the data were analyzed by repeated-measures analysis of variance and partial least square regression.Results The instructional intervention reduced non-regulation, external regulation, and introjected regulation, while increased identified regulation, intrinsic regulation, and self-determination levels in the students. The levels of non-regulation, external regulation, identified regulation, and self-determination were also significantly different from those of the control group. After the intervention, the scores of support for autonomy, support for competence, support for relatedness, and need for relatedness in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group. Support for autonomy, support for competence, support for relatedness, need for competence and need for relatedness positively predicted the self-determination level, and intrinsic regulation and identified regulation negatively predicted non-regulation, external regulation, and introjected regulation.Conclusion“SPOC + flipped classroom” teaching has a positive impact on students’ learning motivation of basketball skills and promotes students’ motivation autonomy. The improvement of support for autonomy, support for competence, support for relatedness, need for competence, and need for relatedness may be related to the improvement of learning motivation of college students majoring in Physical Education. “SPOC + flipped classroom” teaching enables students to obtain more demand satisfaction by giving them more demand support, while demand support and demand satisfaction can promote the internalization of learning motivation so that students can maintain high autonomy motivation. Conflicts between target and distraction can occur at the level of both stimulus and response processing. However, the neural oscillations underlying occurrence of the interference in different levels have not been understood well. Here, we reveal such a neural oscillation modulation by combining a 4:2 mapping design (two targets are mapped into one response key) with a practice paradigm (pretest, practice, and posttest) when healthy human participants were performing a novel color-word flanker task. Response time (RT) results revealed constant stimulus (...) conflict (SC, stimulus incongruent minus congruent, SI-CO) but increased response conflict (RC, response incongruent minus stimulus incongruent, RI-SI) with practice. Event-related potential (ERP) results demonstrated stable P3 amplitude differences for the SI-CO in the centro-parietal region across practice, which may reflect maintenance of the stimulus processing; and significantly larger P3 amplitudes in the same region for the RI relative to SI trial type in posttest, which may reflect inhibition of the distraction response. Further, neural oscillatory results showed that with practice, the lower alpha band in the frontal region and the upper alpha band in the occipital-parietal region distinguished between stimulus- and response-conflicts, respectively, suggesting that practice reduces the alertness (sensitiveness) of the brain to conflict occurrence, and enhances stimulus-response associations. BackgroundPost-stroke depression is one of the most common neuropsychiatric diseases in patients with stroke, and it can increase the disability rate, mortality, and recurrence rate of stroke. Currently, many clinical studies have indicated that traditional Chinese medicine, such as acupuncture and herbs, Western medicine, rehabilitation, repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation, and other treatment methods, are effective in treating PSD. However, no study has formulated a comprehensive treatment plan that integrates TCM, Western medicine, and rehabilitation for PSD. Thus, this trial aims to (...) assess the efficacy and safety of integrative medicine for treating PSD.MethodsThis multicenter, prospective, randomized, controlled study aims to form a set of effective clinical treatment schemes that integrate TCM, Western medicine, and rehabilitation for PSD. A total of 202 participants recruited from four centers will be randomized into either the integrative medicine or standard care group. Standard care—basic treatment, general nursing care, and exercise therapy—will be provided to all participants. The integrative medicine group will also receive acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation. Participants will receive acupuncture and rTMS treatments five times per week for 4 weeks and will be administered Chinese herbs, basic treatment, general nursing care, and exercise therapy for 4 weeks. The primary outcomes include the Hamilton Depression Scale, Self-Rating Depression Scale, and Activity of Daily Living Scale. And the secondary outcomes include the Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale, the Fugl-Meyer Assessment Scale, and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. All outcome measures will be evaluated at baseline, week 4, and week 8. Aims This study aimed to explore the relationship among moral distress, psychological capital, and burnout in registered nurses. Ethical consideration The study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the School of Nursing, Hangzhou Normal University (Approval no. 2022001). Methods A cross-sectional descriptive survey was conducted with a convenience sample of 397 nurses from three Grade-A tertiary hospitals in Zhejiang Province, China. Participants completed demographic information, the Nurses’ Moral Distress Scale, the Nurses’ Psychological Capital Scale, and the Maslach Burnout Inventory (...) Scale. The data were analyzed using Pearson’s correlation analysis, structural equation modeling, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. Results The study found that moral distress and burnout are positively correlated, while psychological capital is negatively correlated with both moral distress and burnout. The path analysis in structural equation modeling revealed that moral distress has a significant direct effect on psychological capital, while psychological capital has a significant direct effect on burnout. In addition, moral distress also had a significant indirect effect on burnout through psychological capital. Moreover, both the direct effect of moral distress on burnout and the total effect of moral distress on burnout were significant. Conclusion The findings suggest that psychological capital plays an important role in the relationship between moral distress and burnout. Promoting psychological capital among nurses may be a promising strategy for preventing moral distress and burnout in the workplace. (shrink)

We comment on the proposition “that lower temperatures and especially greater seasonal variation in temperature call for individuals and societies to adopt … a greater degree of self-control” (Van Lange et al., sect. 3, para. 4) for which we cannot find empirical support in a large data set with data-driven analyses. After providing greater nuance in our theoretical review, we suggest that Van Lange et al. revisit their model with an eye toward the social determinants of self-control.

이 논문은 호굉이 사용했던 인(仁) 개념의 의미와 그 영향에 대해 고찰하였다. 호굉은 인(仁)이 천지의 마음처럼 만물을 낳는 생명력을 지니며, 천지 변화의 모든 것을 관통한다고 생각했다. 그리고 사람들은 인을 실현함으로써 현실의 세계에서 천지라는 근원의 세계에 동참할 수 있다고 보았다. 호굉은 사람들이 인을 실현한 상태가 ‘만물을 자기 몸으로 느끼는 것[萬物一體]’으로 간주하고, 구체적 삶 가운데 사물과 만나는 과정에서의 자기의 마음이 작동했을 때 인이 드러난다고 생각했다. 즉 우리의 마음은 늘 유동하지만 우리의 앎은 사태와의 관계에서만 생겨나고, 앎이 생겼을 때 인이 드러난다는 것이다. 호굉의 도식에서는 내 (...) 마음에 구체적 사태와 관련된 앎이 생겼을 때 인을 찾을 수 있다. 이처럼 앎을 중시하고 구체적인 현상에서 인을 파악하려는 호굉의 방법은 호상학파에게 ‘이각위인(以覺爲仁)’과 ‘관과지인(觀過知仁)’의 방법으로 이어져서 주희와 인에 관한 논쟁을 불러 일으켰다. 본 연구에서는 호굉의 유학적 세계관에서 유래하는 도(道) 개념을 고찰하고, 호굉의 도가와 불교 비판을 살펴보았다. 호굉은 우리가 살아가고 있는 이 세계를 사물들이 쉼 없이 변화하는 역(易)의 세계로 파악하였다. 역(易)은 세계를 구성하는 다양한 사물들 사이의 쉼 없이 이루어지는 상호 영향, 상호 의존을 의미한다. 역의 세계에 기반한 호굉의 도는 삶에서의 구체적인 소통과 삶의 기술이며, 사물의 체용관계에서 가장 근본적인 체(體)로 사유되었다. 한편 호굉은 도와 사물의 체용관계에 입각하여 노자의 도와 인의(仁義) 관계를 부정하였고, 도가의 유무(有無) 도식의 존재론적 생성 개념을 비판하였다. 또한 호굉은 현실 세계를 철저히 긍정하여 (...) 나와 사물과의 구체적 관계에서 참됨을 실현하고 현실에서 일어나는 삶과 죽음(生死)을 자연스러운 것으로 여겼으며, 현실을 떠난 진리를 추구하고 생사의 문제에 천착하는 것을 불교의 병폐라고 비판하였다. 이 글은 호굉의 사유 중 본성[性] 개념에 대해서 고찰하였다. 본성을 최우선으로 하는 호굉의 철학적 구도는 性本論으로 지칭되며, 그가 제시한 본성 개념의 특징은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 호굉은 본성이 전체 세계의 근본이면서 구체적인 개별 사물과 관련된다고 봄으로써 본체론 측면에서 본성 개념을 구성하였다. 즉 본성은 전체 세계의 근본인 體이면서 개별 사물들의 고유성으로 실현된다는 것이다. 또한 호굉은 본체론적 측면의 본성이 마음, 감정, 욕구 등 다양한 심성적 측면으로 전개된다고 보았다. 둘째, 호굉은 미발을 본성으로, 이발을 마음으로 규정하여 본성과 마음의 이상적인 관계를 ‘性體心用’ 구도로 보았다. 그는 미발의 (...) 본성의 차원에서는 성인과 일반 사람들의 상태가 같지만 이발의 차원에서는 마음의 역량에 따라 차이가 생긴다고 보았다. 오직 성인만 마음이 적연부동하여 현실에서 그 관계를 실현한다는 것이다. 그래서 호굉은 일반 사람들이 그 관계를 실현하기 위해 본성의 온전한 실현인 仁이라는 마음의 현상을 따르도록 함으로써, 마음에 본성을 완성한다는 수양의 가능성을 제시하였다. 셋째, 호굉은 본체론적 측면에서 본성 개념을 사유하면서 기존 관념과 달리 본성의 의미를 파악하였다. 그는 性善을 극도의 찬미를 나타내는 감탄사로 읽는데, 이는 본성이 선악의 상대적 개념을 초월해 있으며 전체 세계를 긍정하는 의미를 지니기 때문이다. 또한 호굉에 따르면, 본성은 好惡의 지향성을 함축하고 있으며 사물들은 이를 통해 자기와 다른 대상과의 관계를 형성한다. 그리고 이때 윤리적 가치 판단의 선악 개념이 발생한다. 이 글에서는 「지언의의」 분석을 통해 호굉과 주희의 철학체계를 세계관, 심성론, 수양론 관점에서 비교하였다. 세계관 측면에서 호굉은 세계를 관계성의 총체인 도(道)로 파악하고 선악의 기준으로 규정할 수 없다고 생각하였다. 주희는 세계를 선악의 선천적 기준이 내재화되어 있다는 의미에서 칙(則)으로 파악하였다. 심성론 측면에서 호굉은 심성의 관계를 ‘성체심용(性體心用)’으로 규정하여 성(性)과 심(心)을 각각 존재론적 위상과 개체적 위상에 놓았다. 주희는 심성의 관계를 ‘심주성정(心主性情)’으로 규정하여 본성은 존재의 근거로, 감정은 개체들의 세상에 대한 관계 방식[達道]으로, 마음은 개체의 수양 주체로 설정하였다. 수양론 측면에서 호굉은 선한 양심의 싹이 발현하는 단서[仁의 本體]를 살펴서 (...) 그 싹을 키우고 확충하는 ‘치찰존양(致察存養)’의 방법을 제시하였다. 주희는 마음의 의식화 이전 단계부터의 수양인 함양(涵養)을 강조하면서 미발과 이발의 영속적인 마음 상태를 통해 수양의 주체를 기획하였다. 이와 같이 「지언의의」 분석을 통해, 주희가 호굉을 맹렬히 비판하고 있음에도 불구하고 호굉 또한 내적으로 완결된 철학 체계를 구축하였음을 알 수 있다. This paper explicates the influential Confucian view that “people” and not “institutional rules” are the proper sources of good governance and social order, as well as some notable Confucian objections to this position. It takes Xunzi 荀子, Hu Hong 胡宏, and Zhu Xi 朱熹 as the primary representatives of the “virtue-centered” position, which holds that people’s good character and not institutional rules bear primary credit for successful governance. And it takes Huang Zongxi 黃宗羲 as a major advocate for the (...) “institutionalist” position, which holds that institutional rules have some power to effect success independently of improvements in character. Historians have often called attention to this debate but left the major arguments and positions relatively unspecified. As I show, the Confucian virtue-centered view is best captured in two theses: first, that reforming people is far more demanding than reforming institutional rules; second, that once the rules have reached a certain threshold of viability, further improvements in those rules are unlikely to be effective on their own. Once we specify the theses in this way, we can catalogue the different respects and degrees to which the more virtue-centered political thinkers endorse virtue-centrism in governance. Zhu Xi, for example, turns out to endorse a stronger version of virtue-centrism than Hu Hong. I also use this account of the major theses to show that Huang Zongxi, who is sometimes regarded as historical Confucianism’s foremost institutionalist, has more complicated and mixed views about the power of institutional reform than scholars usually assume. Dreams were a topic of study even in ancient times, and they are a special spiritual phenomenon. Generations of literati have defined the meaning of dreams in their own way, while Zhu Xi was perhaps the most outstanding one among them. He made profound explanations of dreams from aspects such as the relationship between dreams and the principles li and qi, the relationship between dreams and the state of the heart, and the relationship between dreams and an individual’s moral improvement. He summarized previous generations’ understanding of dreams and infused a new dimension from the School of Principles, pointing out a direction for individuals’ moral cultivation and spiritual pursuit. Zhu Xi also examined the opinions of Zhang Zai, Cheng Yi, Hu Hong and other thinkers on Confucius not dreaming of Duke Zhou in his later years, revealing differences between thinkers in the School of Principles. An analysis of Zhu Xi’s thoughts on dreams will provide deeper insight into the research on the School of Principles. (shrink)

This study investigates the relationship between the ethical, educational, and disciplinary development of professional accountancy organizations in a given country and the development of that country’s stock market. Using a comprehensive measure based on the responses of the major PAOs in 36 countries to a questionnaire designed by the International Federation of Accountants to assess the development of PAOs internationally, we find a significantly positive association between the development of PAOs and stock market development. In addition, we find the positive (...) association between the development of PAOs and stock market development to be more pronounced in countries with higher levels of investor protection, a stronger public enforcement environment, or lower levels of corruption, suggesting the importance of complementary institutions in the relationship between PAOs and stock market development. We also find that better-developed PAOs are associated with better-quality financial reporting. Finally, our result also shows that relative to the investigation and discipline mechanism and educational requirements imposed by PAOs, the ethical development of a country’s professional accountants appears to have the strongest positive association with a country’s stock market development.
