    New Life Transition of Former Caregivers: Positive Mental Health Approach.Gerard Mora-Lopez, Marta Berenguer-Poblet, Carme Berbis-Morelló, Nuria Albacar-Rioboo, Pilar Montesó-Curto, María Jesús Aguaron-García & Carme Ferré-Grau - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13.
After the end of their time as a caregiver, former caregivers have needs and feelings that have been subject to little study to date. The aim of the study is to determine and analyse the feelings, perceptions and practices of former caregivers in the reconstruction of their daily lives. This is a qualitative study based on the Grounded Theory developed by Charmaz. The study involved 14 former caregivers who had cared for their relative for more than 2 years and who (...)

A Relação Entre a Defesa Das Liberdades e as Regras Do Jogo Democrático No Pensamento de Norberto Bobbio.Luiz Paulo Rouanet & Ludovyco José Viol Moras - 2024 - Dissertatio 58:156-175.

    The aminoacyl‐tRNA synthetase family: Modules at work.M. Delarue & D. Moras - 1993 - Bioessays 15 (10):675-687.
The combined use of molecular and structural biology techniques has proved very efficient in elucidating structure‐function relationships in aminoacyl‐tRNA synthetases. Our present understanding of this family of enzymes is based on two main unifying principles: (i) division into two different classes, corresponding to two different modes of ATP binding and attachment of the activated amino acid to the last nucleotide of tRNA (either 2′OH or 3′OH of the ribose) by two different catalytic mechanisms and two structural domains with completely different (...)

  25. Towards a Hierarchical Definition of Life, the Organism, and Death.Gerard A. J. M. Jagers op Akkerhuis - 2010 - Foundations of Science 15 (3):245-262.
Despite hundreds of definitions, no consensus exists on a definition of life or on the closely related and problematic definitions of the organism and death. These problems retard practical and theoretical development in, for example, exobiology, artificial life, biology and evolution. This paper suggests improving this situation by basing definitions on a theory of a generalized particle hierarchy. This theory uses the common denominator of the “operator” for a unified ranking of both particles and organisms, from elementary particles to animals (...)

    A Contextualized Self: Re-placing Ourselves Through Dōgen and Spinoza.Gerard Kuperus - 2019 - Comparative and Continental Philosophy 11 (3):222-234.
For Dōgen, the Buddhist doctrine of “no self” ultimately presents the self as contextualized. The self is for him not an independent entity, but is intricately related to its environment, determined through the many beings around it. In a quite different philosophical setting, Spinoza developed similar ideas. While Dōgen challenged the specifics of a tradition that explicitly argues against the idea of an absolute self, Spinoza faced a more radical challenge: questioning an absolute, unchanging, and free self that the Western (...)

    Pseudo‐c‐archimedean and pseudo‐finite cyclically ordered groups.Gérard Leloup - 2019 - Mathematical Logic Quarterly 65 (4):412-443.
Robinson and Zakon gave necessary and sufficient conditions for an abelian ordered group to satisfy the same first‐order sentences as an archimedean abelian ordered group (i.e., which embeds in the group of real numbers). The present paper generalizes their work to obtain similar results for infinite subgroups of the group of unimodular complex numbers. Furthermore, the groups which satisfy the same first‐order sentences as ultraproducts of finite cyclic groups are characterized.

    Descriptions in Mathematical Logic.Gerard R. Renardel De Lavalette - 1984 - Studia Logica 43 (3):281 - 294.
After a discussion of the different treatments in the literature of vacuous descriptions, the notion of descriptor is slightly generalized to function descriptor Ⅎ $\overset \rightarrow \to{y}(x)$ , so as to form partial functions φ = Ⅎ $y(\overset \rightarrow \to{x}).A(\overset \rightarrow \to{x},y)$ which satisfy $\forall \overset \rightarrow \to{x}z(z=\phi \overset \rightarrow \to{x}\leftrightarrow \forall y(A(\overset \rightarrow \to{x},y)\leftrightarrow y=z))$ . We use (intuitionistic, classical or intermediate) logic with existence predicate, as introduced by D. S. Scott, to handle partial functions, and prove that adding (...)

    Utopia: Entering the fortress of Europe's warrior culture.Gerard Wegemer - 2019 - Moreana 56 (1):42-66.
Utopia repeatedly sets forth the rhetorical strategy of using pleasant and healing words to “enter” or “flow” or “steal into” fortresses of hardened opinion and custom without arousing warlike passions to keep them out. An important part of this strategy is the creation of a character who denounces major instances and causes of injustice but who nonetheless supports war and other means of force at the expense of law in rectifying that injustice; another part of the strategy is the creation (...)

Forensic psychiatry, one subspecialty with two ethics? A systematic review.Gérard Niveau & Ida Welle - 2018 - BMC Medical Ethics 19 (1):25.
Forensic psychiatry is a particular subspecialty within psychiatry, dedicated in applying psychiatric knowledge and psychiatric training for particular legal purposes. Given that within the scope of forensic psychiatry, a third party usually intervenes in the patient-doctor relationship, an amendment of the traditional ethical principles seems justified. Thus, 47 articles, two book chapters and the guidelines produced by the World Psychiatric Association, the American Association of Psychiatry and the Law, as well as by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of (...)

    ΦAnta∑ia In Aristotle, De Anima 3. 3.Gerard Watson - 1982 - Classical Quarterly 32 (1):100-113.
There is no general agreement among scholars that Aristotle had a unified concept of phantasia. That is evident from the most cursory glance through the literature. Freudenthal speaks of the contradictions into which Aristotle seems to fall in his remarks about phantasia, and explains the contradictions as due to the border position which phantasia occupies between Wahrnehmung and thinking. Ross, in Aristotle, p. 143, talks of passages on phantasia in De Anima 3. 3 which constitute ‘a reversal of his doctrine (...)
