Bioethics and social approach of the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome.
Persons who are (...)

Jewish Philosophy Past and Present: Contemporary Responses to Classical Sources.Daniel Frank & Aaron David Segal (eds.) - 2016 - New York: Routledge.
In this innovative volume contemporary philosophers respond to classic works of Jewish philosophy. For each of twelve central topics in Jewish philosophy, Jewish philosophical readings, drawn from the medieval period through the twentieth century, appear alongside an invited contribution that engages both the readings and the contemporary philosophical literature in a constructive dialogue. The twelve topics are organized into four sections, and each section commences with an overview of the ensuing dialogue and concludes with a list of further readings. The (...)

History of Jewish Philosophy.Daniel H. Frank & Oliver Leaman (eds.) - 1997 - New York: Routledge.
Jewish philosophy is often presented as an addendum to Jewish religion rather than as a rich and varied tradition in its own right, but the _History of Jewish Philosophy_ explores the entire scope and variety of Jewish philosophy from philosophical interpretations of the Bible right up to contemporary Jewish feminist and postmodernist thought. The links between Jewish philosophy and its wider cultural context are stressed, building up a comprehensive and historically sensitive view of Jewish philosophy and its place in the (...)

Ownership Economics: On the Foundations of Interest, Money, Markets, Business Cycles and Economic Development.Frank Decker (ed.) - 2012 - Routledge.
This book presents the first full-length explanation in English of Heinsohn and Steiger's groundbreaking theory of money and interest, which emphasizes the role played by private property rights. Ownership economics gives an alternative explanation of money and interest, proposing that operations enabled by property lead to interest and money, rather than exchange of goods. Like any other approach, it has to answer economic theory's core question: what is the loss that has to be compensated by interest? Ownership economics accepts neither (...)

The distributive justice doctrine of limitarianism.Frank Aragbonfoh Abumere - 2024 - South African Journal of Philosophy 43 (3):272-282.
Nearly a decade ago, Ingrid Robeyns formulated a distributive justice doctrine known as economic limitarianism. This article posits that Robeyns’ limitarianism is a politically plausible, practically feasible and morally justifiable doctrine. The doctrine effectively addresses concerns regarding incentives, efficacy and unequal opportunities. The article identifies a problem of scope or extensity, which it refers to as an asymmetric argument. The article proposes that this issue can be resolved by fully extending limitarianism to non-democratic states. This extension is justified by the (...)

Taxation in the COVID-19 Pandemic: to Pay or Not to Pay.Frank Aragbonfoh Abumere - 2021 - Philosophia 51 (1):5-17.
Like many governments in this COVID-19 pandemic, the Nigerian government imposed a lockdown on the country. As a consequence of the lockdown, many businesses shutdown and effectively had no source of revenue. Yet, without receiving any bailout or palliatives from the government, these businesses are required to meet their tax obligations to the government. Bearing in mind that this time (COVID-19 era) is different, one wonders what is required of businesses in view of the taxation problem and the social contract (...)

  40. Moral Growth in Children’s Literature: A Primer with Examples.Iii Joe Frank Jones - 1994 - Philosophy in the Contemporary World 1 (4):10-19.
This essay applies a plausible model for moral growth to examples of secular and religious children’s literature. The point is that moral maturation, given this model, requires imaginary worlds on both secular and religious presuppositions. Trying to guide a child’s reading toward either religious or secular books rather than toward good literature is shown therefore to miss the mark of good parenting.

Traces of Love Inscribed by Deeds: The Question of Immortality and Schelling's Ethics.Frank Schalow - 1997 - Journal of Religious Ethics 25 (2):243 - 256.
The work of Schelling is not without problems, most notably his pantheism; nonetheless, because his philosophical presuppositions differ from those of Critical Philosophy, his work after 1800 (especially "Of Human Freedom" and "Stuttgart Seminars") provides an oddly "postmodern" alternative to subject-centered rationalism and the disenchanted secular culture it brought to birth. By counterpointing Schelling against Kant and by displaying the internal logic of Schelling's distinctive philosophy of identity, the author explores Schelling's conception of eternal life and analyzes its relevance for (...)
