Electroencephalography provides a non-invasive means to advancing our understanding of the development and function of the brain. However, the majority of the world’s population residing in low and middle income countries has historically been limited from contributing to, and thereby benefiting from, such neurophysiological research, due to lack of scalable validated methods of EEG data collection. In this study, we establish a standard operating protocol to collect approximately 3 min each of eyes-open and eyes-closed resting-state EEG data using a low-cost (...) portable EEG device in rural households through formative work in the community. We then evaluate the acceptability of these EEG assessments to young children and feasibility of administering them through non-specialist workers. Finally, we describe properties of the EEG recordings obtained using this novel approach to EEG data collection. The formative phase was conducted with 9 families which informed protocols for consenting, child engagement strategies and data collection. The protocol was then implemented on 1265 families. 977 children and 1199 adults provided resting-state data for this study. 259 children refused to wear the EEG cap or removed it, and 58 children refused the eyes-closed recording session. Hardware or software issues were experienced during 30 and 25 recordings in eyes-open and eyes-closed conditions respectively. Disturbances during the recording sessions were rare and included participants moving their heads, touching the EEG headset with their hands, opening their eyes within the eyes-closed recording session, and presence of loud sounds in the testing environment. Similar to findings in laboratory-based studies from high-income settings, the percentage of recordings which showed an alpha peak was higher in eyes-closed than eyes-open condition, with the peak occurring most frequently in electrodes at O1 and O2 positions, and the mean frequency of the alpha peak was found to be lower in children as compared to adults. We observed a deterioration in the EEG signal with prolonged device usage. This study demonstrates the acceptability, feasibility and utility of conducting EEG research at scale in a rural low-resource community, while highlighting its potential limitations, and offers the impetus needed to further refine the methods and devices and validate such scalable methods to overcome existing research inequity. Osmanlı toplumunda düşüncenin aktarıldığı en önemli vasıtalardan biri şiirdir. Çoğu iyi eğitim almış olan şairler, bu malumatlarını sanat zemininde şiir diliyle aktarmışlardır. Divanlar incelendiğinde bu husus çok net olarak görülecektir. Bu çalışmayla başta Kur’an ve tasavvuf olmak üzere Yunan mitolojisine (...) kadar uzanan bir muhteva zenginliği içinde eser veren divan şiirinde akıl tasavvurunu ve bu tasavvurun sanat zemininde nasıl işlendiğini, belli özellikleriyle temayüz etmiş şairlerin eserlerinden hareketle incelemek istiyoruz. The French nineteenth century artists Henry Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901) is known for his distinctive style and bold character portraits of the theatrical scene of the gaslight era in Paris. The paper examines some of the formative influences of eighteenth century Japanese art on the development of visual characters, with specific focus on a lithograph entitled Divan Japonais. Alluding to the refined representation of Japanese courtesans, subtle nuanced reminiscences to an ideal of elegance create an allusion to highly respected courtesans in (...) the Japanese ‘Green Houses’ of the Asian Yoshiwara the famous “Good Luck Meadow” in Edo, present day Tokyo. I argue that Lautrec draws on techniques in Asian art, effectively creating a visual language that suggests a carefully crafted reevaluation of values. Lautrec’s visual language promotes sensibilities characteristic for a Japanese aesthetic and lifestyle that are also intrinsic to a traditional cultivation of moral virtues in Asia. The argument will be developed in conjunction with an analysis of diverse forms of visual language apparent in two works of Lautrec, a print by the Japanese artist Kitagawa Utamoro (1753-1806), and a photo of the dancer Jane Avril (1868—1943). Felsefî bir düşünce sistemi olarak Horasan’ın dinî-kültürel ortamında açığa çıkan ve gelişen Hurûfîlik, zengin bir etnik yapıya ve dinî mirasa sahip olan Anadolu’da yayılmış ve bu süreçte Osmanlı kültür ve edebiyatında derin izler bırakmıştır. Hurûfîliğin etkisi bazı tasavvufî çevrelerde görülmüş ve bu anlayış Bektaşî yolunun edebî metinlerinde varlığını sürdürmüştür. Harflerin ve sayıların kutsallığını kabul edip bu doğrultuda inanç esaslarını belirgin hâle getiren Hurûfîlik, özünde vahdet-i vücûd düşüncesini barındırmaktadır. Vahdet-i vücûd nazariyesinin merkezinde insanın bulunmasına benzer şekilde Hurûfîliğin merkezinde de insan bulunmaktadır. (...) Bu düşünce sisteminde amaç, bireyi insân-ı kâmil seviyesine yükseltmektir. Fazlullah el-Esterâbâdî tarafından sistemleştirilen Hurûfîlik Osmanlı Devleti’nde 17. yüzyıla kadar etkisini devam ettirmiş ve aşırıya kaçanlar haricinde devletin, bu tutuma ciddi bir müdahalesi olmamıştır. İnsanın iç dünyasındaki değişikliği ile yakından ilgilenen tasavvuf ilmi Hurûfîliğin Kur’ân ve sünnete aykırı olmayan yönlerini kendi potasında eritmiş ve literatürüne katmıştır. Bu bağlamda Hurûfîlik düşüncesinin literatüründe oldukça etkili olduğu görülen Bektaşî dervişlerinden Misalî mahlaslı Gül Baba’nın Divan’ında bulunan vahdet-i vücûd nazariyesinin izlerinin tasavvufi açıdan incelenmesi bu makalenin konusunu oluşturmaktadır. Edebiyat ve dil tarihimiz açısından büyük önem taşıyan, söylemini ve söylem güzelliğini kaybetmeden yaşadığı devirden günümüze kadar ulaşan, tasavvufu kendisine şiar edinmiş şairimiz Yunus, dilin bütün imkânlarından yararlanarak duygu ve düşünce dünyasını Divan’ında vücuda getirmiştir. Oldukça sade bir dil kullanan yapmacıklıktan uzak, millî bir duyuşla şiirlerini dile getiren Yunus’un beslendiği asıl kaynak tasavvuftur. Onun dünyasını “Allah aşkı, tevhit düşüncesi, ahlak ve gelenek” gibi dört önemli mevhum oluşturur. Yunus, şiirlerinde bu duygu ve düşünceleri dile getirirken İslam kültürünün tefsir, edebiyat, coğrafya, (...) astronomi gibi çeşitli dallarından ve özellikle Kur’an-ı Kerim, ayetler ve hadis-i şeriflerden istifade etmiş, bunları kendi dili ve terminolojisi içerisinde ustaca kullanmıştır. Bu büyük Türk-mutasavvıfı, Divan’ında iktibas ve telmih yoluyla birçok ayet ve hadise yer vermiştir. Hatta onun her şiirinin bir ayet ve hadis ile beslendiğini söylemek mümkündür. Çalışmamızda Yunus Emre’nin ayet ve hadislerden yaptığı bu iktibaslar açıklanarak, bunların cümle içerisindeki yeri üretici-dönüşümsel söz dizimi ilkeleri ışığında incelenecektir. (shrink)

Mehmed Muhyiddin Üftāde Efendi is a significant mystic poet and Sufi who lived in Bursa during the 16th century. Raised in a Sufistic environment from an early age, Üftāde is known as the spiritual guide of the Celvetiyye tariqat. Much like almost every Sufi, Üftāde Efendi engaged with poetry and had a dīvān (collection of poems) comprising around sixty odes. He penned his poems in an ascetic style, utilizing simple and understandable Turkish, where he discussed the transience of worldly life, (...) inviting people to worship and obey Allah. Üftāde accorded special importance to dhikr (remembrance of Allah) while calling people to worship. He regarded dhikr as a guide that brings individuals closer to Allah's pleasure and beauty. Consistently advising those who wish to progress in spiritual path (sayr u sulūk) and aspire to reach Allah to engage in dhikr, Üftāde emphasizes that dhikr should not only resonate on the tongue but also affect the heart. Upon examining the poems in Üftāde’s dīvān, it is apparent that the subject of dhikr holds a significant place. In some instances, Üftāde addresses dhikr in the entirety of a poem, while in others, he touches upon it in certain verses. This study has examined the poems related to dhikr in Üftāde's dīvān and analyzed Üftāde’s perspective on dhikr. (shrink)

After the Turks met with Islam, their interest in religious texts continued in both scientific and literary fields. Many people who came to Anatolian lands brought with them the culture, literature and customs of the geography they lived in before and brought an understanding that we can conceptualize as Anatolian Irfān. One of those who served this purpose is undoubtedly Mawlānā. Mawlânâ, who influenced the geog-raphy he lived in with both conversation and letters especially poetry, used many texts that he (...) thought belonged to the Prophet as hadith in his works. In this article, the hadith texts that Mawlānā used by way of quotation or reference -both fully and partially- in his work called Divān-i Kabīr were examined. While the sources and soundness of the narrations included in the quotation method are mentioned in the study, the results of Takhrīj information of the hadiths cited with inreference are reflected. Mawlânâ’s hadith usage method was evaluated specific to an ghazal, that he fictionalized with Quranic verses and hadiths, the consequences obtained were analyzed and the narrations are classified contextually. The extent to which the author’s connection with Sufism is effective in the choice of narration has been analyzed around the results obtained. (shrink)

Bütün bir evrenle irtibat kurma, duygu ve düşünceleri paylaşma adına insana bahşedilen en etkin enstrüman dildir. Dilin şekillendirdiği kelâm yapılanmaları içerisinde şiirin apayrı bir yeri ve önemi haiz olduğu bilinmektedir. Çok eski çağlardan beri şiir insanoğlunun, duygu ve düşüncelerini en etkin biçimde ifade edebilmek için başvurduğu en verimli iletişim vasıtalarından biri olmuştur. Öyle ki, eski medeniyetlerin ve tarihî kalıntıların aktarılmasında önemli bir rol üstlenen mitik destanların kahir ekseriyeti şiir formunda tanzim edilmiştir. Hatta kutsal metinlerin bazı bloklarının şiirsel bir yapılanma arz (...) ettiği araştırmacılara malûmdur. Şiirin de pek çok edebî form ve tarz farklılığına sahip olduğu bilinmektedir. Biz bu çalışmamızda, ekseni bütünüyle aruz üzerine kurulu olan divan şiirimizin toplumu yönlendirme ve aydınlatma adına yansıttığı özdeyişler, hikmetler, nasihatler ve bazı bilimsel göndermeler üzerine fikir imal etmeye çaba sarf ettik. Büyük bir sanat anlayışına ve bilgi birikimine dayalı olan divan şiirimizin en dikkat çeken özelliği, insan yaşamı için altın kurallar içeren nasihat ve hikmetlere yer vermesidir. Bu nasihat ve hikmetlerin hemen tamamı asla birer fantezi ve senaryo ürünü olmayıp, yaşanmış ve yaşanmakta olan sosyokültürel gerçekliklerden iktibas edilmiş değerler birikimidir. Çalışmamızda divan şiirinin Türkçe, Arapça ve azıcık da Farsça örneklerine yer vermiş bulunmaktayız. Bu noktada çalışmayı başlıca üç temel kategoriye taksim ederek, önce genellemenin ilk, örneklendirmenin ikinci mısrada yer aldığı şiirleri, ikinci aşamada örneğin ilk, genellemenin ise ikinci mısrada yer aldığı şiirleri ve nihayet üçüncü aşamada da bazı ilim ve fenlere gönderi yapan şiirleri tahlil etmeye çalıştık. Les recherches sur la théorie de la simulation en neurosciences cognitives ouvrent de nouvelles perspectives de compréhension des mécanismes implicites à l’œuvre dans la relation duelle en psychanalyse. À l’aide de la cognition sociale, une déconstruction par niveaux des aspects transactionnels élémentaires de la communication psychothérapeutique est entreprise. Nous proposons ensuite l’idée de co-simulation comme mode de partage caractéristique de la situation psychanalytique.Advances in cognitive neuroscience and simulation’s theory research open new perspectives in the quest to understand implicit mechanisms involved (...) in psychoanalysis relationship. Social cognition allow us to introduce a biology of communication. The authors describe elementary psychotherapeutic interactions by levels of hierarchical organisation. Ce livre propose une réflexion théorico-clinique sur un outil psychanalytique encore trop méconnu, que l'auteur intitule: Cet autre divan. Il traite d'une autre façon d'utiliser la méthode psychanalytique de Freud pour les pathologies non névrotiques actuelles. Cet autre divan peut éveiller la curiosité, car ici le divan lui-même est un outil de la cure. Ce concept de la Psychothérapie Psychanalytique Corporelle (PPC) est issu de la rencontre des travaux de Julian de Ajuriaguerra et des recherches post-freudiennes sur (...) les pathologies des limites. Avec de nombreuses illustrations, l'auteur montre que la PPC permet le dégagement de l'archaïque traumatique à l'aide de la médiation corporelle. L'originalité de cet abord psychanalytique est de faire travailler les paramètres oubliés parce que silencieux dans le cadre psychanalytique classique, qui est mis en difficulté par les patients non névrotiques. Ce livre, qui donne au corps toute son importance organisatrice pour la psyché, montre que nous pouvons innover à partir de Freud pour aider psychanalytiquement ces personnes qui présentent des souffrances identitaires et narcissiques et qui s'adressent à nous. This chapter analyzes traditional archetypes of divan literature—‘āşık (lover), ma‘şūk (beloved), and rakīb (opponent)—to show the presence of a dialectical discourse in classical Ottoman divan love poems. In both style and content divan poems display a comprehensive understanding of the postclassical Islamic philosophical conception of dialectic and argumentation theory, known as ādāb al-baḥth wa al-munāẓara. The focus on Ottoman love poetry and argumentation theory in this paper aims to demonstrate how the love poetry that developed in Ottoman (...) culture is more dialectical in form and content than Ottoman literary studies have recognized. Her büyük edebiyatın kendini meydana getiren bir ilim ve fikir kaynağına dayandığı görülür. Bizim edebiyatımızın ilim ve fikir kaynağı en başta kutsal kitabımız Kur’an’dır. Türklerin X. asırda İslam’ı kabul etmelerinden sonra bu dinin kutsal kitabı olan Kur’an, hayatın her alanında etkisini gösterdiği gibi edebiyatına da tesir etmiş vücuda getirilen tüm eserlerde Kur’an’ın tesiri açıkça kendini göstermiştir. Biz bu çalışmamızda Kur’an’da insanî bir zaaf olarak bildirilen psikolojik özelliklerin Divan edebiyatındaki yansımalarını incelemek istiyoruz.
