The problem of the visio Dei : this refers to understand what God is, not who he is. The key issue is the analogy with the structure of sense knowledge, characterized by the identification between the knowing subject and object known. Love, understood as sensus animae , operates by means of a knowledge identifying through a modification of the feeling, even if with one major difference compared to the other senses, as essentially characterized by freedom. The declination of love and (...) freedom is one of the possible uses of love. Alternate paths can be based on the doctrine of the double image of the man with the result that more is love as sensus animae , another is its rectitudo as identified in the decor . The relationship that develops between the knower and the first term of the cognitive changes, overcoming the opposition of subject and object of his rational knowledge. In the cognitive of ' love , the object is the mirror through which the subject must become transparent to itself. (shrink)

Artykuł jest odpowiedzią na krytyczne uwagi zgłaszane pod adresem książki Ukrytość i Wcielenie. Teistyczna odpowiedź na argument Johna L. Schellenberga za nieistnieniem Boga przez Stanisława Judyckiego, Ryszarda Mordarskiego, Marka Peplińskiego i Jana Sochonia. Główny zarzut wobec mojego stanowiska głosi, że jest ono zbyt przychylne wobec argumentu J.L. Schellenberga, który niekoniecznie powinien być wzorem ujęcia problematyki ukrytości. Jednym z przejawów przyjęcia założeń kanadyjskiego autora jest zgoda na tezę o istnieniu niewierzących przy braku oporu.

C'est une question classique de la théologie que celle de la vertu des païens. Sur ce sujet aussi se manifeste au XVIIe siècle l' antagonisme des molinistes et des augustiniens. Le camp de Pascal ne fait aucun doute, mais on n'a pas mesuré les inflexions que sa stratégie argumentative imprime à la thématique païenne des Provinciales aux Pensées. Dans les Provinciales, non seulement la morale jésuite est exclue de la sphère éthique chrétienne, mais elle est présentée comme inférieure à la (...) morale des païens. Or, dans les Pensées, le statut des païens semble beaucoup moins enviable : de possible référence morale aux yeux du polémiste, ils sont transformés en repoussoirs par l'apologiste, qui les exhibe en preuves historiques de la misère de l'homme sans Dieu. On ne peut cependant en demeurer à cette vision réductrice : les Pensées reconnaissent une valeur aux sentiments, aux lois, et même à la religion, des païens, et cette appréciation est lourde de conséquences métaphysiques en ce qu'elle signifie la validité de l'instance naturelle - outre qu'elle contribue à établir entre Provinciales et Pensées une continuité qui met à mal la thèse de la prétendue « rupture idéologique ». The question of the virtues of pagans is a classical one in theology. This subject was also a focus of the antagonism between Molinists and A ugustinians in the seventeenth century. There is no doubt as to which side Pascal supported, but as yet the different inflections of his argumentative strategy with respect to the theme of paganism in the Provinciales and the Pensées have not been accurately assessed. In the Provinciales, Jesuit morals are not only excluded from the sphere of Christian ethics, but also presented as lower than the ethics of the pagans. In the Pensées, on the other hand, the status of pagans seems much less enviable ; no longer a possible moral reference for the polemist, they are transformed into wholly negative models by the apologist, who exhibits them as historic evidence of man's wretchedness without God. Yet this reductive vision is not the whole truth : the Pensées also acknowledge that there is a certain value in the feelings, the laws, and even the religion, of pagans. This estimate has many metaphysical consequences, as it implies the validity of natural standards, in addition to contributing to the establishment of a continuity between the Provinciales and the Pensees, contrary to the claim that there is an « ideological break » between the two works. Sensibilité is in Valéry’s theory the name of a large grasp of functions, involving both perception and creation, and involved both in art and in experience. So far, this key word of Valéry’s aesthetics can be read as the bridge between his conceptions of art and his idea of the self in order to understand the way this author writes and conceives what philosophy can aim to.

Rawls’ theory of justice has been exposed to several criticisms, most of them having been supported on some counter-intuitive results. The intent of this article is to show that these criticisms fail to affect the Rawlsian model, since, as a theoretical construction of the concept of justice, it is doomed to account for potential, rather than actual, empirical contents.

Carl Schmitt hat in seiner Schrift 'Völkerrechtliche Großraumordnung mit Interventionsverbot für raumfremde Mächte' von 1939 versucht, dem Reichsbegriff zu einer völkerrechtlichen Renaissance zu verhelfen. 'Reich' ist bei ihm gedacht als Kern einer europäischen Hegemonialordnung. Die Präsentation dieser Konzeption hat im nationalsozialistischen Deutschland sofort eine lebhafte Debatte ausgelöst. Der Verfasser versucht, sie nachzuzeichnen, wobei auf bisher unveröffentlichte Dokumente aus dem umfangreichen Nachlass Carl Schmitts zurückgegriffen wird. Der Autor weist auch auf die Parallelen zwischen Schmitts Konzeption vom 'totalen Staat' und jene vom (...) Reich hin. Ähnlich wie Jüngers berühmte Wendung von der 'totalen Mobilmachung' hat sie Anfang der dreißiger Jahre großes Aufsehen erregt. Das 'Reich' hat immer einen über das Verfassungs- und Völkerrecht hinausweisenden Beiklang - oder genauer: einen engen Bezug zur Politischen Theologie. Einigermaßen überraschend ist, dass der katholische Politische Theologe Carl Schmitt Begriffe benutzt, die eher aus dem Repertoire der protestantischen Theologie stammen. Auch für die Deutung dieses Zusammenhangs wurden unveröffentlichte Briefe aus dem Nachlass Schmitts herangezogen. Das 'Reich' als politische Konzeption ist nach 1945 fast spurlos in der Versenkung verschwunden, und dennoch beweist Schmitts Schrift zur 'Großraumordnung mit Interventionsverbot für raumfremde Mächte' Aktualität durch ihre antiuniversalische Stoßrichtung: 'Die notwendige Konsequenz des Universalismus ist Imperialismus'. So lautet nicht etwa ein Satz aus Schmitts Oevre, sondern er steht in dem Buch 'Kampf der Kulturen' des Harvard Professors Samuel P. Huntington. (shrink)

Cílem knižní studie je postihnout pravidla platící v agonálním prostoru, do něhož literární znalci svými promluvami a texty jako subjekty vstupují a v jehož rámci jsou vzájemně poměřováni, posuzováni a hodnoceni. Autor přitom vychází z předpokladu, že myšlení o literatuře spoluformuje nadosobní pamět' určitého kolektiva a současně je také prostorem pro individuální tvořivost znalců. Literární historiky, teoretiky, kritiky či učitele interpretuje jako aktivní účastníky řečových her, kteří musí své názory a koncepty formulovat a prosazovat v kooperaci a konkurenci s ostatními, (...) což je také nutí volit jisté role a strategie. A protože si je vědom také toho, že pravidla hry jsou v čase proměnná, zachycuje rovněž posuny v myšlení o literatuře od pozitivistického důrazu na fakta přes víru, že klíčem k poznání je volba správné metody, tedy obecně aplikovatelného postupu, až po současnou konceptuální literární vědu, která hodnotově preferuje jednorázové demonstrace novosti, kreativity a neopakovatelné jedinečnosti. Di fronte alla varietà di espressione artistiche che si pongono, o si sono poste, sotto il sigillo del Postmoderno, si vuole qui indagare se esso sia un variegato, e generico, movimento artistico sviluppatosi, a partire dagli anni Settanta, nel design, nell’architettura, nell’urbanistica, nel cinema o comunque nella generalità di quelle che un tempo erano chiamate “arti figurative” oppure un autonomo stile, con i suoi propri e specifici connotati. Il punto di partenza è, in ogni caso, che il Postmoderno è una (...) strategia artistica associata a idee “radicali” e che, contrapponendosi, almeno implicitamente, al “Modernism”, ne spezza il progressivo universalismo adottando strategie legate alla parodia, al pastiche, alla citazione, in modo da reinventare il passato. Spezzare la narrazione del Moderno genera progressivamente, anche se non con evidenza, un nuovo “stile”, che pervade il mondo delle arti e della comunicazione. La conclusione, tuttavia, è che il Postmoderno non possa definirsi solo come “rottura” dei fondamenti dei vari “modernismi”. Al contrario, se se ne vuole comprendere un senso teorico e artistico, bisogna dedurre che esso si pone nella strategia del Moderno, inteso come pluralità dialogica, dove privilegiare una voce piuttosto che un'altra è solo il segno della scelta di una specifica curvatura interpretativa, non di una verità che si afferma a scapito di altre. La difficoltà di restringere questo mobile e variegato insieme in una sola immagine, induce così alla certezza che, proprio in virtù delle sue irrisolte aporie, l’epoca in cui viviamo sia nata qui: la genesi e lo sviluppo del Moderno ha mostrato che non vi è spazio per un’astratta purezza e che meccanico e organico, ragione e retorica, logica ed estetica, storico e antistorico, pur opposti, e per nulla dialettici, in una società che non è, e non sarà mai, di “puri spiriti”, hanno prodotto quella complessità che anche oggi attraversiamo, “nominandola” in vari modi. The relationship between statistical mechanics and population genetics has a long history. Both take advantage of statistics to address the behavior of large groups of entities. The main objective of this article is to assess the obstacles population genetics is meeting in its claim to explain biological phenomena from the conceptual apparatus of statistical mechanics according to two recent articles. Several tools available to the latter are missing in the former. Thus, in the absence of an adequate justification of the (...) relevance of the analogy and without the satisfaction of certain basic assumptions, I argue that the explanatory strategy of the analogously based model is seriously compromised. La relation entre mécanique statistique et génétique des populations a une longue histoire. À l’instar de la première, la seconde tire profit des statistiques afin de traiter le comportement des grands ensembles d’entités. L’objectif principal du présent article est d’identifier les obstacles que rencontre la génétique des populations dans sa prétention d’explication des phénomènes biologiques à partir de l’appareillage conceptuel de la mécanique statistique selon deux articles récents. Or, plusieurs outils dont dispose cette dernière manque à la première. Ainsi, en l’absence d’une justification adéquate de la pertinence de l’analogie et sans la satisfaction de certaines hypothèses fondamentales, je soutiens que la stratégie explicative du modèle analogue est sérieusement compromise. Um die Presse- und Meinungsfreiheit wird Tag für Tag gerungen - auch in Deutschland, wo sie im Grundgesetz verankert ist. Was darf man sagen? Wie weit geht die Meinungsfreiheit? Wo endet die Toleranz? Diese Fragen müssen immer wieder auf ein Neues beantwortet werden. Auch in der Demokratie wird die Meinungsfreiheit bedroht. Politscher Populismus und verrohte Kommunikation im Internet stellen das Grundrecht auf die Probe. Rechtsextremisten inszenieren sich als Opfer einer vermeintlichen Meinungsdiktatur, Hasskommentare zerstören die Streitkultur und provozieren neue Gesetze, die (...) im schlechtesten Fall ihrerseits die Meinungsfreiheit aushöhlen. Gut verständlich beschreiben Experten unterschiedlicher Disziplinen die Dimensionen und Herausforderungen der Meinungsfreiheit. Daraus ergibt sich eine facettenreiche Darstellung zu einem der großen Themen unserer Zeit. (shrink)

La réussite des plates-formes relationnelles du Web 2.0 doit beaucoup au fait que les personnes prennent des risques avec leur identité en rendant publiques des informations sur elles-mêmes. Aussi, est-il nécessaire de comprendre les ressorts sociaux, culturels et psychologiques de ce phénomène. Car l'exposition de soi ne signifie pas un renoncement au contrôle de son image. Elle témoigne, au contraire, d'une volonté que l'on pourrait presque dire stratégique de gérer et d'agir sur les autres en affichant et en masquant certains (...) traits de son identité. C'est ce paradoxe qui se trouve au coeur des débats sur la privacy dans le Web 2.0 et dont cet article cherche à éclairer quelques aspects à travers la lecture de travaux de recherche récents.The success of Web 2.0 relational platforms owes a lot to people who take risks with their personal identities by making information about themselves public. There is therefore a need to understand the social, cultural and psychological mainsprings of this phenomenon. The exhibition of the self on the Internet does not mean that people are losing control over their image. Rather, it reflects a strategic attempt to manage and influence others. This paradox lies at the heart of Web 2.0 privacy debates, which this paper seeks to shed light on through a reading of recent research work. (shrink)

Le Corbusier's visionary or realistic urban plans are accompanied by various experimental ways of presentation, all designed to involve the public and political authorities through spectacular installations that play on the dimension of illusionism. In his quest to present his urbanistic ideas, Le Corbusier uses dioramas, photographs and film projections. The aim of his staging is to modify the conventional vision of reality with a systematic bombardment of spectacular images.

By observing processes of art perception two contradicting phenomena come to the fore: a feeling of closeness and distance at the same time. The phenomenologists Martin Heidegger and Bernhard Waldenfels describe this connection as a matter of being ("Seinsweise") of images, that allows new views of the world whereas the two cultural anthropologists Ernst Cassirer and Hartmut Böhme note that the connection between both can be seen as the basis of experience ("Erlebnisweise") of images and therefore serves for communication. Here (...) one can see, knowledge-oriented notions the former promote do not exclude semiotic notions the latter imply. (shrink)
