Richard Cartwright is one of the most clearheaded, astute, and penetrating philosophers in this country. Respect is one of the central concepts in contemporary moral thought. It plays a prominent role in everyday, pre-philosophical moral thinking, as well as in recent moral theory and applied ethics. Yet basic questions about the concept and role of respect have received less attention than might be expected. This volume takes up some of these basic questions. 이 논문에서 필자는 로맨스 정치경제학을 위한 시론을 마련하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 필자는 우선 성적 욕망이 가부장적 정치·경제 복합체를 통해 생산되고 유지되는 경향이 있음을 보여주었다. 예를 들어 이리가레가 “남성경제”라고부른 가부장적 정치·경제 안에서 여성은 재생산을 위한 이성애를 욕망하도록, 남성은 동성애를 욕망하도록 구성되는 경향이 강했다. 나아가 필자는 근대 자본주의 도시에서 자본주의 경제와 낭만적 사랑의 욕망이복합적으로 얽히면서 “로맨스 정치·경제”를 만들어 내었음을 보여주고 이것이“남성경제”와 어떤 차이점과 공통점을 갖는가를 분석하였다. 재생산의 욕망에 종속되어 있던 “남성경제”와 달리 “로맨스 정치·경제”라고 부른 것 안에서 여성과남성은 모두 자아실현을 위한 이성애적 욕망을 (...) 구성하도록 유도되었다. 그러나“남성경제”와 마찬가지로 “로맨스 정치·경제”는 여전히 처녀/창녀, 생산/재생산의 위계적 구분 위에 구축되어 있었고 이로 인해 여성들은 사랑 안에서 완전히 평등하고 자유로운 관계를 만들기 힘들었다.
