Este artigo pretende pensar a configuração e a reconfiguração dos gêneros musicais, de modo geral, e do frevo, de modo específico, considerando suas mediações territoriais, temporais e afetivas. Propomos esta abordagem considerando a perspectiva afrodiaspórica do cruzo e das encruzilhadas (SIMAS; RUFINO, 2018; RUFINO, 2019) como uma chave epistemológica e metodológica para discutir os tensionamentos espaçotemporais do frevo, fortemente territorializado na Região Metropolitana do Recife. Much has been said about intuitionistic and classical logical systems since Gentzen’s seminal work. Recently, Prawitz and others have been discussing how to put together Gentzen’s systems for classical and intuitionistic logic in a single unified system. We call Prawitz’ proposal the Ecumenical System, following the terminology introduced by Pereira and Rodriguez. In this work we present an Ecumenical sequent calculus, as opposed to the original natural deduction version, and state some proof theoretical properties of the system. We reason that (...) sequent calculi are more amenable to extensive investigation using the tools of proof theory, such as cut-elimination and rule invertibility, hence allowing a full analysis of the notion of Ecumenical entailment. We then present some extensions of the Ecumenical sequent system and show that interesting systems arise when restricting such calculi to specific fragments. This approach of a unified system enabling both classical and intuitionistic features sheds some light not only on the logics themselves, but also on their semantical interpretations as well as on the proof theoretical properties that can arise from combining logical systems. Starting from the hunting treatise Cynegeticus, assigned to Xenophon, this article seeks to reflect on the way in which the construction of the ideal hunter of the polis described by the Attic author. This aim will aboard both practical terms - equipment, prey, methods of hunting conducting etc - and moral terms, taking in account the numerous attacks made against the sophists throughout the booklet. To accomplish this aim, the present text includes a brief recapitulation of Xenophon's life, the most (...) important historiographical interpretations on the Cynegeticus and its dating, and, finally, the way in which the Attic author describes his ideal Greek hunter. Estudo qualitativo exploratórios de literatura cientifica sobre ansiedade em estudantes brasileiros, objetivando identificar fatores relacionados ao desenvolvimento da ansiedade patológica. Os textos foram analisados e agrupados de acordo com análise de conteúdo. Entre os resultados encontramos o enfoque relacional que impacta o self e surge no contexto socioeconômico. Destacamos como agentes que contribuem para a ansiedade: exigência de responsabilidade e autonomia; preocupações com o futuro; não ter tempo para o lazer, ausência de familiares; ser mulher e ser homossexual. Concluímos que (...) o modelo de ensino praticado na universidade causa pressão psicológica pela grande diferença da experiência pedagógica no secundário. Completamos que a Universidade requer promover intervenções que visem o desenvolvimento emocional e cognitivo dos estudantes para que desenvolvam seu método de estudar mais eficiente, lidar melhor com suas dificuldades, e gerar estratégias para lidar com elas, além de organizar o planejamento tempo reservando horas para atividades de lazer e de interação social. It is well known that Emmanuel Levinas places the ‘other’ at the heart of his phenomenology, as an agency the relation toward which constitutes subjectivity. As such, the Levinasian other is deprived of violence, and it is identified with the figures of the foreigner, the orphan, and the widow. The only resistance the other could muster against the violence directed at him/ her, argues Levinas, is what he terms as the resistance of lack of resistance. This article aims at questioning (...) this premise. Is the other indeed deprived of any violence? The readings of Derrida, Sartre, Foucault, Agamben, Freud, and Lacan can prove otherwise: either the other is equipped with contingent violence, in accordance with its intentions, as Derrida argues; or it is equipped with a priori violence, administered through the gaze, as Sartre shows. The violence of the other is linked to the violence of identity, as that which alienates the self from itself by depriving it of its fluctuating heterogeneity, whatever name it assumes. (shrink)

Many people think that the capacity for criticism and reflection, as well as the attitude of welcoming contingency, the other, and debate, is some internal and well-intentioned energy of open-minded people, as advocated by liberals, whether from the right or the left. What they don’t realize is how much the capacity for reflection and dialogue is an external phenomenon, present in the world itself, produced only thanks to a space of resistances, encounters, and even frustrations, as in the academic and (...) scientific sphere. It prevents my cogito and my precious epistemic schemes from getting out of control, in a dangerous transcendentalist delirium, and taking over the world and the circumstances themselves. The aim of this essay is precisely to understand this aesthetic dimension of science, this ontological feature that crosses its contours, taking as a starting point the concepts of “importance” in Whitehead and “matters of concern” in Bruno Latour. This article explores the philosophical foundations of Adam Smith's concept of authority, focusing on its connections to ‘admiration' and the ‘love of systems'. Its primary objective is to analyse how Smith integrates moral, epistemological, and aesthetic principles into his political philosophy to explain the subordination conferred by wealth, which he identifies as the most effective form of authority. Drawing on the Wealth of Nations, Lectures on Jurisprudence, and Theory of Moral Sentiments, the article argues that Smith sees authority as rooted (...) in human tendencies to admire systems that harmonize and explain phenomena while evoking beauty and coherence. Furthermore, this admiration includes social and political arrangements. As a result, political systems that ‘promote happiness’ are admired for their practical benefits and their ability to evoke a sense of beauty: like finely crafted machines, they inspire admiration through their elegance and order. Resumo : O artigo examina as contribuições do pensamento social de Maurice Blondel para a promoção de uma paz duradoura entre as nações. A partir da crítica blondeliana dos totalitarismos e dos regimes liberais, elencamos certas características da ação humana histórica e concreta, individual e social, que fundamentam uma concepção social e política favorável à pluralidade das culturas e à colaboração entre os povos. Como critério crítico e forma normal de promover a busca imanente do bem, da verdade e da (...) justiça, defende-se a transcendência real do espírito humano. Paz.: This article examines the contributions of the social thought of Maurice Blondel for the promotion of a lasting peace among nations. Drawing from the Blondelian criticism of totalitarian systems and of liberal regimes, we list certain characteristics of historic and concrete human action, both individual and social. Those features frame a social and political view which is favorable to the plurality of cultures and fosters collaboration among peoples. The article argues that the real transcendence of the human spirit is the critical criterion and the normal path to promote the immanent search of good, truth and justice. Finally, we list some normative principles that should inform all formation programs, and personal and social ducation as well, in order for them to be apt to promote peace and a sense of common humanity. RESUMO O artigo reconstrói a discussão acerca da biopolítica nos pensamentos de Foucault e de Negri e Hardt, a fim de ressaltar a importância que pode adquirir, nesse contexto, a noção de agonística. De início, abordamos de maneira introdutória os conceitos de biopolítica e governamentalidade em Foucault, bem como sua relação com o liberalismo e o neoliberalismo. Também examinamos as ambiguidades que marcam as práticas de liberdade e as possibilidades de resistência em um mundo governado pelo biopoder. Em seguida, explicitamos (...) o sentido dos conceitos de capitalismo cognitivo, Império e multidão nos trabalhos de Negri e Hardt. Nesse ponto, procuramos preencher uma lacuna de suas análises, que não se encontra em Foucault, relativa à questão da agonística: a disposição para a luta da multidão se intensifica à medida que se percebe que a própria vida é agon. Por fim, argumentamos que, em princípio, é possível, no ambiente de trabalho neoliberal, converter processos de empresariamento-de-si em microexperimentos de resistência e liberdade não alienada. As shortages of fossil energy, especially oil and natural gas, become evident, the United States has moved to convert corn grain into ethanol with the goal to make the nation oil independent. Using more than 20% of all U.S. corn on 15 million acres in 2007 was providing the nation with less than 1% of U.S. oil consumption. Because the corn ethanol project has been a disaster, there is growing interest to develop cellulosic ethanol. Wood, grasses, and crop residues are (...) being proposed as sources for ethanol fuel. Though it may seem beneficial to use renewable plant materials for biofuel, the use of crop residues and other biomass for biofuels raises major concerns about energy balance, food security, and environmental problems. Character customization is a prominent feature in digital games, affording users the ability to tailor one’s virtual self-representation (avatar) to match aspects of their actual or ideal self, influencing psychological well-being. The mental health implications of character customization can be partially explained by self-discrepancy theory, which argues that achieving congruence with one’s avatar reduces cognitive dissonance. However, the role of undesirable self-concepts such as mental health ailments have largely been overlooked in this context despite forming part of one’s identity. In (...) theory, customization of an avatar representing undesirable self-concepts presents a self-regulatory paradox: individuals desire to reduce discrepancies with a self-representation, yet they also desire to enlarge discrepancies with a disliked-self. To reconcile this, two experiments explored the psychological implications of imbuing avatars with undesirable self-concepts. In Study 1 (N= 90), participants customized an avatar to represent anxiety within themselves (i.e., an anxiety avatar). Customization significantly reduced state anxiety compared to a control group, supporting the proposed discrepancy-reduction mechanism. Study 2 (N= 122) employed a 2 (customization: yes, no) × 2 (destruction: yes, no) between-subjects design, with participants either destroying or observing an anxiety avatar. Destruction of customized anxiety avatars resulted in the largest reduction in anxiety among all conditions, supporting the proposed discrepancy-enlargement mechanism. Theoretical and practical implications for the use of avatar-based e-mental health interventions are discussed. (shrink)

The use of organic farming technologies has certain advantages in some situations and for certain crops such as maize; however, with other crops such as vegetables and fruits, yields under organic production may be substantially reduced compared with conventional production. In most cases, the use of organic technologies requires higher labor inputs than conventional technologies. Some major advantages of organic production are the conservation of soil and water resources and the effective recycling of livestock wastes when they are available.

This paper presents a reconstruction of the “existential argument” for the existence of God that seems implicit, if somewhat elusive, in the writings of Thomas Aquinas. The reconstructed argument corresponds to no single passage of Thomas’s but gathers and synthesizes arguments used by him throughout his writings. The paper then attempts to evaluate the argument’s soundness against the background of Thomas’s metaphysical principles. There is ample motivationfor desiring such an evaluation. John Haldane has recently described the existential argument as perhaps (...) Thomas’s “most original contribution to the search for theistic proofs.” Yet, ironically, several prominent Thomistic philosophers have denied the soundness, and indeed the very possibility, of any such existential argument, leveling criticisms based on textual issues in Thomas’s works, the limitations of apriori reasoning, and perceptions of circular reasoning. A partir de algumas considerações de Max Horkheimer sobre o potencial crítico do pessimismo schopenhaueriano, o artigo visa mostrar em que medida o sofrimento específico da fome, em especial quando esta é registrada em contextos de pobreza, miséria e escravidão na obra de Schopenhauer, elucida empiricamente o pessimismo metafísico em forma de pessimismo crítico-social. Para tanto, descrevemos algumas presenças dos termos fome (Hunger) e pobreza (Armut) na obra do pensador da vontade para, em seguida, problematizarmos alguns de seus significados. Apesar (...) de não reconhecer um expediente ativo do Estado ou a necessidade de mudanças sociais estruturais em vista de seu combate, a fome enquanto dor ou sofrimento social de todos os tempos ganha em Schopenhauer um olhar crítico muito específico - em relação a outras críticas filosóficas -, que se soma às variadas condenações sociológicas, econômicas etc., a saber, como uma das expressões mais flagrantes das perversidades e mazelas de um mundo que não poderia ser justificado. Besides the better-known Nelson logic and paraconsistent Nelson logic, in 1959 David Nelson introduced, with motivations of realizability and constructibility, a logic called $\mathcal{S}$. The logic $\mathcal{S}$ was originally presented by means of a calculus with infinitely many rule schemata and no semantics. We look here at the propositional fragment of $\mathcal{S}$, showing that it is algebraizable, in the sense of Blok and Pigozzi, with respect to a variety of three-potent involutive residuated lattices. We thus introduce the first known algebraic (...) semantics for $\mathcal{S}$ as well as a finite Hilbert-style calculus equivalent to Nelson’s presentation; this also allows us to clarify the relation between $\mathcal{S}$ and the other two Nelson logics $\mathcal{N}3$ and $\mathcal{N}4$. Condição humana foi afetada de modo polarizado desde que o projeto iluminista consolidou rupturas entre o senso-comum, a fé, instituindo a ciência e a racionalidade cognitiva como parâmetros balizadores das concepções binárias de sujeito e de intervenções clínicas em contextos de saúde mental. Atualmente a internet e as Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação adensam o afastamento holístico da condição humana, ao instituir as redes sociais virtuais como meio de ideais de sujeitos. Convive-se com as teses de “morte do sujeito”, a (...) ênfase ao parâmetro da imagem, a dificuldade em lidar com a diferença, recusa ao diálogo e afirmação da intolerância. Assim, consideramos imprescindível retomar o debate dos aportes da fenomenologia Husserliana e Heideggeriana como referências para repensar nossa condição humana e contribuir para que os profissionais de saúde reencontrem o mundo da vida como start para construir, nos diversos contextos e instituições de atenção à saúde mental, práticas clinicas pautadas na vivencia e não na representação. This paper deals with the transnationalism of racial anthropological frameworks and its role in the understanding of human difference during India’s decolonization and nation-building. With attention to the circulation of scientific objects, I focus on the practices and articulations of Irawati Karve, an Indian anthropologist with a transnational scientific trajectory and nationalistic political engagements. I argue that Karve’s adaptation of an internationally validated German racial approach to study caste, ethnic and religious groups contributed to the further racialization of these categories (...) as well as to the racialization of nationalistic projects in Maharashtra and India. I conclude with a reflection on the transnationalization of the coloniality of racialization. (shrink)

O objetivo da pesquisa é demonstrar a importância da fraternidade na democracia brasileira, caracterizada como representativa, ao menos em tese, visto que a vontade do povo não tem sido considera nas decisões que promovem mudanças legislativas substanciais. Diante disto surge a indagação central do presente estudo: Qual a contribuição da categoria da fraternidade em uma democracia? A metodologia aplicada a pesquisa é qualitativa e bibliográfica ao buscar fontes na doutrina jurídica relacionada com o tema e também quantitativa ao trazer dados (...) como forma de argumentação. O presente trabalho discute a crítica realizada pelo filósofo Richard Rorty ao também filósofo Michel Foucault, e tem como objetivo elucidar em quais aspectos a crítica de Rorty seria ou não adequada a este último. Richard Rorty ficou conhecido pelas árduas análises que fez à filosofia tradicional, preocupada em representar o mundo e sua complexidade e desinteressada em resolver os problemas humanos, e a determinados filósofos do século XX, notavelmente Heidegger e Foucault, interessados menos em apresentar soluções viáveis aos problemas (...) sociais que em divagar sobre questões intelectuais que levam apenas à falta de esperança nos modos pelos quais a sociedade está constituída. Desse modo, Rorty concebe as análises de Foucault sobre o poder como um exemplo de tais divagações e o fato de Foucault ter se voltado para o cuidado de si como exemplo de desesperança e alheamento social, pois o que estaria em questão no cuidado de si não seria o bem comum ou a possibilidade de mudar determinada configuração social a fim de alcançar melhorias para as vidas humanas em seu seio comum, mas a perspectiva de um auto aperfeiçoamento. É certo que Foucault não menciona maneiras politicamente viáveis da sociedade alcançar um melhor desenvolvimento, para que se encontre o problema de Foucault há que se fazer um deslocamento, e não de questões mais urgentes para questões menos urgentes, mas de foco, de modo a se ter melhor discernimento sobre qual é o problema de cada um destes filósofos e quais questões cada um pretende resolver. This article presents a reading of aphorism 6.36111 of Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus by Wittgenstein, from its localization in the critical, wide-reaching, debate on the project of transcendental philosophy. The intention of the article consists of clarifying the historical background suggested by the mention of the?Kantian problem”. This shows that Wittgenstein found in the context of the dispute about spacial representation, that which is not explicity in the aphorism, some arguments to reject the key concept of Kant’s theoretic philosophy: the ideality of (...) space as a pure form of intuition. Este livro é um resumo simplificado de todas as principais teorias e fundamentos do Alvissarismo expostos no Livro Alvíssara, sendo constituído de forma dialética através de perguntas e respostas. Seu objetivo final é o de servir de introdução a leigos e iniciantes ao estudo sistemático da Doutrina Alvissarista.

A grande revolução filosófica arquitetada pelo Alvissarismo está justamente na descoberta fundamental dos juízos analíticos a posteriori; desde Kant, não houve sequer um único filósofo com coragem o bastante para questionar a ideia de que todo juízo de experiência é sintético e que todo juízo analítico é a priori, com exceção de Saul Kripke, que foi pioneiro ao revelar ao mundo a existência do necessário a posteriori e do contingente a priori, corroborando a nossa tese sobre a existência dos juízos (...) analíticos a posteriori; esta foi, pois, a grande ruptura causada pela Filosofia Alvissarista, que, através da pergunta “existem juízos analíticos a posteriori?” causou uma revolução sem precedentes na história da filosofia. O mais importante aqui não é nem a resposta dada pelo Alvissarismo a esta pergunta, mas sim a própria pergunta, posto que ela rompe de uma vez por todas com a filosofia Kantiana, que fundou as bases da filosofia moderna através da negação da revelação. O Alvissarismo dá, portanto, início a uma nova era na história da filosofia, uma era onde na filosofia é possível a revelação, onde é possível existir uma filosofia unificada à mitologia e à religião, como um retorno à filosofia pré-talesiana, isto é, uma filosofia antes do surgimento de Tales de Mileto, que separou a filosofia da religião através da proposição “a água é a origem de todas as coisas”. Teodemocracia é a forma de governo apresentada pelo Alvissarismo no segundo selo do quarto tomo de Alvíssara, onde a soberania legislativa deriva do povo e é exercida por ele, através da criação, veto e sanção das leis que regem a sociedade realizadas por via de plebiscitos, telefonia e pela internet. A teodemocracia não se confunde com a teocracia, na medida em que na teocracia o Estado é regido pela religião ou por um sectário religioso, enquanto que na teodemocracia o Estado (...) é absolutamente laico e não está ligado a nenhuma religião nem a nenhum sectário religioso. A teodemocracia é a perfeição absoluta da democracia, na medida em que faz do povo o representante legislativo direto de Deus. Na teodemocracia a voz do povo é a voz de Deus. Como podemos ver o sistema político teodemocrático proposto pelo Alvissarismo não tem nada a ver com um governo legado por um sectário religioso, mas sim com um governo legado pelo poder do povo como representante legislativo da vontade de Deus. A teodemocracia é o instrumento do fim da corrupção política, assim como o do fim da desigualdade social, na medida em que o povo tem o poder de criar, vetar e sancionar as Leis de um país, de um Estado e de um município, o povo tem o poder de fazer valer a sua vontade, assim como a sua necessidade. Só a teodemocracia tem o poder de estruturar uma distribuição de renda moralmente justa, na medida em que com ela o povo poderá comandar essa distribuição através do seu poder de veto das Leis propostas. Este artigo apresenta duas teses sobre as vantagens do uso de obras de arte para o ensino de Filosofia no Ensino Médio: a primeira é a de que obras de arte podem servir de introdução ao filosofar na escola - indo além das questões estéticas e chegando a interrogações da filosofia política, metafísica, moral e epistemológica. Num primeiro momento, apresenta-se exemplos de obras e casos ricos para esse intuito. Num segundo momento, parte desses particulares para uma compreensão mais ampla, explicando, (...) a partir das teses de Arthur Danto, Ronald Moore e Ronai Rocha, o valor didático e filosófico daquelas no Ensino Médio. Ainda quanto à primeira tese, sustenta-se que a arte também serve ao exercício de uma das principais competências filosóficas: a argumentação. A segunda tese é a de que as artes podem servir de ponto de partida para uma proposta curricular interdisciplinar: no presente caso, entre a Filosofia e as demais disciplinas escolares. Apresenta-se possíveis cruzamentos conceituais e temáticos entre as disciplinas em questão, fornecidos por obras de arte e outros fenômenos estéticos. Nossa conclusão é a de que abordar a arte no Ensino Médio, sob o ponto de vista filosófico, é uma oportunidade didática e cognitiva que não deve ser menosprezada. (shrink)

Book reviews: VAUCHEZ, André. Francisco de Assis, Entre História e Memória. Tradução de José David Antunes e Noémia Lopes. Lisboa: Instituto Piaget, 2013. 431 p.

: This paper discusses the relation between the philosophies of difference and the so-called postcolonial movement of thought. Our main sources are, on the side of the postcolonial studies, Frantz Fanon, Edward Said, and Homi Bhabha and, on the side of the philosophies of difference, Jean-François Lyotard, Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze, and Félix Guattari. We show that the authors belonging to the postcolonial movement are, to large extent, heirs of a way of thought already practiced by the philosophers of difference. (...) However, the postcolonial authors also reinforce the conceptual apparatus of the philosophies of difference with original contributions and, above all, an attentive consideration of the problem of colonial difference, which remains a big gap for critical thought. Regarding that, with no intention of approaching in depth the singularity and complexity of the ideas of each of the mentioned authors, we draw a minimal map of the points where the philosophies of difference and the postcolonial thought intercept each other. This map also shows points where the postcolonial movement complements the perspective of the philosophies of difference, precisely addressing one of its blind spots: the colonial question. Resumo: Este artigo discute a relação entre as filosofias da diferença e o chamado movimento de pensamento pós-colonial. Suas fontes principais são, do lado dos estudos pós-coloniais, Frantz Fanon, Edward Said e Homi Bhabha, e, do lado das filosofias da diferença, Jean-François Lyotard, Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze e Félix Guattari. Mostra-se que os autores do movimento pós-colonial são, em grande medida, herdeiros de um pensamento já praticado pelos filósofos da diferença. No entanto, os autores pós-coloniais também reforçam o aparato conceitual das filosofias da diferença com contribuições originais e, sobretudo, uma consideração atenta do problema da diferença colonial, que permanece uma grande lacuna para o pensamento crítico. Tendo isso em vista, sem pretender abordar, de maneira aprofundada, a singularidade e a complexidade das ideias de cada um dos autores mencionados, traça-se um mapa mínimo dos pontos onde as filosofias da diferença e o pensamento pós-colonial se interceptam. O artigo tenciona demonstrar que a concepção gramsciana de escola não se reduz ao aparelho escolar convencional, mas engloba um conjunto de organismos do mundo do trabalho potencialmente formativos. Pretende, portanto, oferecer elementos categoriais que permitam recompor o conceito gramsciano de escola no corpo geral da crítica marxista. The article demonstrates that the Gramscian conception of the school is not limited to conventional school unit, but includes a set of organizations in the world of work potentially formative. RESUMO Este artigo propõe pensar sobre as vicissitudes do cuidado na rede pública de atenção psicossocial e sobre a fundamentação de uma perspectiva ético-dialógica de trabalho a partir de contribuições bakhtinianas. A reflexão se entretece na análise de impasses e possibilidades para a práxis em um Centro de Atenção Psicossocial da Região Metropolitana I do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. O estudo é resultado da pesquisa de mestrado vinculada ao Programa de Pós-graduação em Saúde Pública da Escola Nacional de Saúde (...) Pública Sergio Arouca da Fundação Oswaldo Cruz. Foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas com os profissionais e observação participante no cotidiano da instituição. A partir das análises realizadas sob o prisma do Construcionismo Social e do recurso de análise de práticas discursivas e produção de sentidos, verificamos a presença de posicionamentos contraditórios expressos em percepções que se mostraram ao mesmo tempo consonantes e conflitantes com pressupostos ético-dialógicos. ABSTRACT This paper proposes to think about the vicissitudes of care in the public psychosocial care network and about the fundamentals of an ethical-dialogical perspective of work with grounds in the Bakhtinian contributions. The reflection is interwoven in the analysis of the impasses and possibilities for the praxis in one Centro de Atenção Psicossocial - [Psychosocial Care Center - PCC] in the metropolitan area of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The study is the result of a Master’s Degree research, linked to the Public Health Postgraduate Program of the Sergio Arouca National Public Health School of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation. Semi-structured interviews and participant observation were carried out with professionals during the institutional routine. From the analyses performed under the perspective of Social Constructionism and using the resource of analysis of discursive practices and meaning production, we verified the presence of contradicting positions expressed in perceptions that are both aligned and conflicting with dialogical ethics assumptions. Este artigo relaciona a teoria existencialista de Sartre com os aspectos atuais da sociedade do conhecimento atrelados à educação. Para tanto o ser é tomado a partir da sua subjetividade que se estabelece na relação consigo mesmo, com o outro e com o mundo. A partir da trama dessas relações o conhecimento disseminado passa a ser filtrado e orientado entre os sujeitos. Para que haja um resgate à subjetividade, autonomia da consciência humana assentada no desenvolvimento das capacidades cognitivas e afetivas (...) de problematização e apreensão da realidade, no entanto, necessitará de uma formação global com participação crítica baseada na ação e compreensão no mundo. The most important aspect of the Ernst Bloch`s philosophy is based in the statement: “S is not yet P” - an ontological premise that underlies all ramifications of his thinking. In this sense, Bloch says: “the proletariat is not yet sublated, nature is not yet home, the real is not yet articulated reality”, all this is in process, and the task of philosophy is to considerer the real possibilities of what is not-yet-become and change the world in accordance with what (...) could be. Our intention is to contribute to the investigation of the fundamental premises of Blochian thought, especially his ontology of the not-yet, based on a theory of possibilities that intends to reinterpret the Aristotelian concept of matter. A partir da perspectiva intelectualista grega, na qual o dualismo entre corpo e alma requer o primado do discurso racional [lógos] em detrimento do páthos filosófico, busca-se com este artigo associar a noção de "desmedida" [hybris] com a noção de melancolia. Essa associação ganha ainda mais relevo, quando a aproximamos da interpretação de Simone Weil para o poema épico de Homero, a Ilíada. Se essa aproximação se justifica, então é patente a aproximação entre o caráter trágico que o destino adquire, (...) na perspectiva clássica, e a noção de contingência enquanto fundamento do absurdo existencial, no pensamento existencialista. We seek to associate the notion of "excess" [hubris] with the notion of melancholy from the intellectualist Greek perspective, in which the dualism between body and soul requires the rule of rational discourse [logos] at the expense of philosophical pathos. This association becomes more relevant when understood in light of Simone Weil's interpretation of Homer's epic poem, the Iliad. If this approach is justified, then a rapprochement becomes evident between the tragic character takes on destiny in the classical view, and the notion of contingency as the basis of existential absurdity in existentialist thought. Este artigo analisa o livro didático “Iniciação à Filosofia” de Marilena Chauí como ferramenta para o ensino de filosofia no Ensino Médio. No Brasil da última década vê-se a reinserção da filosofia como disciplina obrigatória no Ensino Médio, o que provoca a problematização sobre o que ensinar e como ensinar esta disciplina para adolescentes nessa fase de formação. Assim, autores como Marilena Chauí propuseram livros didáticos a serem adotados pelas escolas, a fim de fornecer um subsídio para a atuação do (...) professor e um direcionamento para as abordagens a serem adotadas em sala de aula de modo que se produzisse uma aprendizagem significativa. Escolheu-se o livro da autora não só pela sua reconhecida trajetória acadêmica, mas também pelo fato do livro da autora ser adotado por muitas escolas em todo o país. Trata-se de um estudo de cunho bibliográfico realizado em duas etapas: primeiro, buscou-se selecionar textos e autores que discutissem o ensino de filosofia e o livro didático para poder contextualizar o material analisado; segundo, aprofundou-se uma análise sobre o livro didático em si questionando se ele contribui ou não para que se atinja os objetivos propostos para o ensino de filosofia no Ensino Médio. Nesse sentido, concluiu-se que o livro “Iniciação à Filosofia” constitui-se enquanto ferramenta apropriada para o ensino de filosofia, contribuindo não apenas para a formação do aluno, mas também para a atuação do professor.: This paper analyzes the textbook “Introduction to Philosophy” by Marilena Chauí as a tool for teaching philosophy in High School. Brazil, on last decade, is experiencing a period of rehabilitation philosophy in High School, which causes the questioning about what to teach and how to teach this course for teenagers in this phase of training. Thus, several authors have proposed, as Marilena Chauí did, textbooks to be adopted by schools in order to provide a subsidy for the teacher performance and guidance to the approaches to be adopted in the classroom so that they produce a learning significant. Picked up the book of Marilena Chauí not only recognized for their academic career, but also because she is the author of the book adopted in many different schools over the country. This is a study of bibliographic nature carried out in two stages: first, we tried to select texts and authors who discuss the teaching of philosophy and the textbook in order to contextualize the material analyzed; second, deepened an analysis of the textbook itself questioning whether or not it contributes to the achievement of the proposed goals for the teaching of philosophy in secondary education. Accordingly, it was concluded that the book “Introduction to Philosophy” constitutes as appropriate tool for teaching philosophy, contributing not only to the student's education, but also to teacher performance. Resumo: Este trabalho coloca em foco o Tribunal do Júri sob um prisma analítico, seu surgimento e atual utilização, apresentando as ideias propostas por Foucault ao longo de sua obra a respeito das instituições jurídicas historicamente estabelecidas pelos governos para relacionar em especial aquela instituição com os conceitos da biopolítica apresentados pelo autor e colocar em pauta a inadequação de seu modelo ao momento histórico atual das sociedades ocidentais.: This work focus the jury Trial under an analitic prism, its origin (...) and current use, presenting the ideas proposed by Foucault in his work towards the justice institutions established by governments to relate specially that institute to the biopolitics concepts presented by the author and put in the subject the inadequacy of its model to the current historical moment of occidental societies. Neste artigo nos propomos a analisar algumas questões em torno da noção de utilidade e serventia das ditas humanidades. O pensar não vinculado a um pronto utilitarismo é sinônimo de inutilidade? Para responder a esta questão levantamos certos aspectos históricos que fundamentam o automático vínculo entre a utilidade e as ciências e a desvalorização dos saberes que não produzem um produto imediato. Não se trata de um manifesto contra as ditas ciências duras nem de um panegírico às humanidades. São reflexões (...) que recolocam a questão dos estudos humanísticos como parte integrante dos saberes contemporâneos. (shrink)

Não é anódino que Adam Smith, em célebre carta para a Edinburgh Review, tenha ressaltado passagens relativas a problemas de filosofia moral do Discurso sobre a desigualdade. Chegando a aproximar Rousseau de Mandeville, distancia-os, contudo, por meio de um conceito fundamental: a piedade. Nesse artigo, examinaremos as consequências dessa leitura, analisando-a, no entanto, sob a luz de Emílio. Mais precisamente, pretendemos desenvolver a seguinte hipótese: enquanto o Segundo Discurso apresenta-se como um diagnóstico crítico da moral do “sistema dos políticos modernos”, (...) no Emílio encontramos uma solução possível, através da educação do homem no percurso da formação do juízo, para os problemas morais impostos aos indivíduos da sociedade comercial. Examinaremos detidamente esse segundo momento, ou seja, verificaremos se as noções desenvolvidas de amor de si, identificação e piedade, podem indicar a posição do pensamento rousseauniano em relação ao debate filosófico-moral ligado à economia política de seu tempo. Because the agriculture/food sectors appear to be driven by short-term economic and political forces, cheap energy, and agricultural-chemical technologies, waste and environmental/social problems in the agricultural/food sectors are estimated to cost the nation at least $150 billion per year. Most of the waste and environmental/social problems can be eliminated through better resource management policies and the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices.

This paper aims to provide a brief presentation of Husserl’s lectures dedicated to the philosophy of Fichte, specifically the discussion of the relationship between ethics and religion that the fichtian texts develop in its intermediate phase. The course taught by Husserl, divided into three lessons and presented in the chair of Freiburg between the years 1917 and 1918, seems to clearly show the intimate connection between Husserl proposals on an absolute foundation of ethics and the theory advocated by Fichte about (...) the different stages or degrees of moral development of mankind. More than that, both idealistic philosophical positions conceive a close relation between the conception of an ethical ideal and the defense of a view about human nature that understands it as a pure acting of consciousness. In this regard, the paper aims to indicate, albeit incipiently, how epistemology, ethics, and religion appear intertwined in a systematic manner in the two theories. (shrink)

This brief essay unpretentiously seeks to highlight the relevance of some of the central questions in Jean-Paul Sartre's Being and Nothingness, thus aiming to contribute to broadening the scope of the French philosopher's ideas. Without fearing controversy, it presents the correlation between the concept of freedom and the responsibility necessarily implied. Such concepts remind us that this work is current, for it demands to assume its political and ethical unfoldings as unavoidable demands. The debate is built, then, through Sartre's encounters (...) with his peers, highlighting the interlocutions and controversial divergences that mark his itinerary. Finally, the timeliness of the work seems to reside in the historical failure of the humanist project, that is, Being and Nothingness continues to be current, because we are still incapable of promoting a historical situation in which the human being is free. This paper argues that the political adage “Be ye prudent as serpents and guileless as doves” involves three different types of relation between prudence and morality, namely: unification (Vereinigung), subordination (Unterordnung), and association (Beigesellung). I maintain that these relations are set up according to the same principle that determines the relationship between mechanical and teleological causality in the third Critique. Thus, I argue that morality and prudence are much more systematically related within the system of critical philosophy than is normally (...) assumed in the literature and that this is made possible by way of an intimate relationship between prudence and teleological judgment.
