    Aeschylus, Agamemnon 1–8.T. L. Agar - 1924 - Classical Quarterly 18 (3-4):163-.
As is well known, many editors, following Valckenaer, reject the bracketed line altogether; but the omission leaves the opening clause with a very unsatisfactory ending. μπρέποντας αίθέρι, heavily stressed by its position, seems to form little less than an anticlimax, unless we assume that the stars could hardly be expected to shine in the sky. On the other hand, when line 7 is added, έμπρέποντας αίθέρ στέρας brings out clearly the fact that only certain conspicuous stars or constellations are meant—those (...)

    Agar's Homerica.T. W. Allen - 1909 - Classical Quarterly 3 (03):223-.
Mr. Agar has collected his adversaria on the Odyssey which have been enjoying cold storage these many years in the blue depths of the Journal of Philology, and increased them by about three-quarters. He has produced a very interesting and valuable book, the most important contribution to the linguistic history of the Homeric text that has been made for a long time. Mr. Agar holds that the language of Homer represents the original ‘Achaean’ speech, and that its abnormalities in vocabulary, (...)

Legislative Supremacy and Legislative Intent: A Reply to Professor Craig.T. R. S. Allan - 2004 - Oxford Journal of Legal Studies 24 (4):563-583.
My analysis of the constitutional foundations of judicial review has been criticized by Paul Craig; but his objections confuse the ‘constructive’ account of legislative intent I defend with the ‘literal’ conception (reflecting the views of individual legislators) I expressly repudiate. He thinks we must choose between legislative intent, literally conceived, and common law principle. This mistake exemplifies the peculiar character of Craig's ‘common law model’ of judicial review, in which the requirements of the rule of law, on one hand, and (...)

This document, which consists of two lives of Homer and the Agon inserted between them, has long been derived from the Μουσεîον of Alcidamas. The conjecture was contested and the survival of Alcidamas denied. The publication of twenty-five lines from a papyrus (...)

Ibn Tumlūs (Alhagiag bin Thalmus d. 620/1223), Compendium on logic (al-Muḫtaṣar fī al-Manṭiq).Ibn Ṭumlūs & Yūsuf ibn Muḥammad - 2020 - Boston: Brill. Edited by Fouad Ben Ahmed.
Abū al-Ḥajj¿j Yūsuf b. Muḥammad Ibn Ṭumlūs (Alhagiag Bin Thalmus, d. 620/1223) was a philosopher, physician and direct disciple of Ibn Rushd (Averroes, d. 595/1198), who lived and practiced rational sciences in Alzira and Marrakesh, a quarter of a century after the demise of his teacher. Ibn Ṭumlūs was not Ibn Rushd's only student who engaged in work on logic, but one of dozens of disciples, suggesting that the supposed simultaneous death of the latter's philosophy is "grossly exaggerated". As a (...)

The following reply is brief because I have dealt with the works of art at some length in Rylands Bulletin, xxxvi , 563 f. and in a forthcoming number of Ephemeris Archaiologike.
