Esta entrevista está orientada a desentrañar la participación actoral de Giselle Collao con su personaje de Lucía en la serie televisiva Mil oficios (2001- 2003). Los temas que se desarrollarán para confrontar esa realidad serán la formación y la vocación que tuvo, así como la actitud que debió adoptar por las mismas pautas y los parlamentos del guion. De ese modo, su papel sería más verosímil y acogido con simpatía por la audiencia. Su interpretación en sí ha sido singular (...) y destacable en el país. Esto se ha demostrado con el decurso del tiempo, puesto que el público peruano aún recuerda su tan entrañable rol. En el seno de la historia es el resultado de no pocas horas de reflexión de dos amigos que comparten algunas pasiones, como son -y por este orden- la historia y la universidad. Hartos de oír hablar de crisis en las dos, salieron de su cubículum y vieron, primero, que nunca como ahora había habido tantos libros buenos de historia, algunos verdaderos best-seller, segundo, que jamás en la universidad española había habido tantos estudiantes -y estudiosos- y nunca se había investigado (...) más y mejor que ahora. ¿Dónde está, pues, la crisis? La intentaron buscar en el impacto producido por las novedades, desde lo postmoderno a la historia basura, pero acabaron por ver que incluso en los más rabiosos rupturistas afloraba la solidez de la historia y la fortaleza de algunas grandes tradiciones científicas. Sin embargo, notaron que ni así se consuelan los defensores de una Clío amenazada por mil peligros. Sospachando alguna razón inconfesable -externa al oficio, queremos decir- que explique la paradoja, los dos amigos se contentan por ahora con poner por escrito lo que tienen más seguro: lo que está probado en la mejor tradición clásica y lo que de bueno aporta la novedad. The abstract notion of “the feminine”, —in French, le f minin, and in German, das Weibliche —as substantivum neutrum, remains together with its opposite, the masculine, connotative of an inherent disparity. It is meant neither as the biological affiliation of sex, nor as gender, the social response, or echo, of this biological affiliation. Rather, it is the spiritual attitude which is the norm for psychic manifestations in general, and is its subtle psychosomatic background. It is not necessarily connected with the (...) rude biological differentiation of sex, but rather appears as a quality in one or the other form; either as the individual, the social group or forms of activities, etc., without respect to the biological manifestations of the participants. What this paper attempts to demonstrate, is the way in which the above described notion of the feminine, functions in classical Asian cultures and philosophies. In the famous Yijing, for instance, this is seen as the hexagram correlated to the male Qian; in the philosophy of Yin and Yang, as Yin the Earth, in correlation with Yang, the Heaven; which are united in the famous Taiji diagram, a sophisticated development of Chinese Neo-Confucianism. The paper focuses on the Dao de jing, in which Lao Zi gives, as a counterbalance to the existing praxis, priority to the female principle. He remains, however, faithful to the Asian tradition, maintaining that the masculine and the feminine should remain equal, correlative, neither one nor the other vying for dominance. The correlative embrace, “When you know the male yet hold on to. the female” subsists in the mythical past where both principles are joined in androgynous unity. (shrink)

The title of this article raises a question: Does the author think that this idea, at the beginning of the twentieth century and during the nineteenth century, was something different from what it is now at the end of the twentieth century? Yes, the author does think so: at the end of the present century the Russian idea has changed, though its new features are still visibly weaker than its former, traditional features, and our future all but depends on which (...) carries the day—the old or the new—in this Russian idea. The slight recognition that the idea of obligation to society has received in modern morality has Greek and Roman rather than Christian roots. So, even in the morals of private life - everything in it from generosity, nobility, personal dignity, even a sense of honor - has its origin purely a humanitarian, not a religious part of our education, and these qualities could never evolve from those ethical standards where the only explicitly recognized value is humility.

Moral sensitivity and moral reasoning are essential competencies biomedical researchers have to develop to make ethical decisions in their daily practices. Previous research has shown that these competencies can be developed through ethics education. However, it is unclear which underlying mechanisms best support the development of these competencies. In this article we argue that the development of moral sensitivity and moral reasoning can be fostered through teaching strategies that tap into students’ moral imagination. We describe how moral imagination can stimulate (...) the development of these competencies through three different merits of moral imagination. Moral imagination can help students to 1) transfer and apply abstract moral concepts to concrete situations and contexts, 2) explore the perspective of others, 3) explore and foresee the moral consequences of different decisions and actions. We explain these three merits of moral imagination in the context of biomedical research and present a theoretical model for how these merits can be used to stimulate the development of moral sensitivity and moral reasoning. Furthermore, we describe multiple teaching strategies for biomedical curricula that tap into the three merits of moral imagination. These teaching strategies can inspire teachers to design ethics education that activates students’ moral imagination for the development of moral sensitivity and moral reasoning. (shrink)

An Arabic language summary of the history and principles of four key Hellenic schools of philosophy: Cynicism, Skepticism, Epicureanism, and Stoicism.

In this paper we report on our experiences with using network analysis to discern and analyse ethical issues in research into, and the development of, a new wastewater treatment technology. Using network analysis, we preliminarily interpreted some of our observations in a Group Decision Room session where we invited important stakeholders to think about the risks of this new technology. We show how a network approach is useful for understanding the observations, and suggests some relevant ethical issues. We argue that (...) a network approach is also useful for ethical analysis of issues in other fields of research and development. The abandoning of the overarching rationality assumption, which is central to network approaches, does not have to lead to ethical relativism. (shrink)

El oficio de historiador es una guía didáctica destinada a los estudiantes que emprenden sus estudios universitarios en las disciplinas históricas. Pretende servir como manual auxiliar para introducirse en el conocimiento y la comprensión de los conceptos básicos de las ciencias históricas y en los métodos de enseñanza y aprendizaje que son habituales en el ámbito educativo de la Universidad. Las dos primeras partes de la obra ofrecen una presentación de los rasgos característicos de la historia como ciencia humana y (...) de la evolución de la historiografía desde su origen en la Antigüedad y hasta el presente. Los dos últimos apartados orientan a los estudiantes sobre los modos de estudio propios de la educación universitaria y tratan de ayudarles en la realización práctica de los ejercicios y trabajos de curso correspondientes. Cuando fray Luis de Granada fue invitado por Antonio Pinheiro, obispo abogado de Miranda, a pronunciar un sermón en la ceremonia de su ordenación episcopal, abordó el oficio y las costumbres de los obispos. Posteriormente ese sermón fue ampliado y convertido en un auténtico libro sobre el oficio de pastor de almas.

El propósito del ensayo es ofrecer una reflexión sobre la profesión del investigador novel desde la experiencia del autor a la luz de las ideas y reflexiones ofrecidas por Pierre Bourdieu en su obra “El oficio de científico” con cuestiones actuales y retos a los que se enfrentan la comunidad científica en el ámbito de las ciencias de la educación. El texto se articula con relación a los temas que surgen de la lectura del libro de Bourdieu que se irán (...) nutriendo de los aportes de otros textos y artículos relacionados con la materia. Como señala Martel (2016), se pretende aportar un trozo de este espejo roto que es la profesión del investigador para reconstruirlo a modo de aviso para navegantes para los que vienen detrás desde la experiencia del investigador novel. O objetivo do presente artigo é analisar as relações entre a filosofia, o ofício do escritor e a tecnologia, tecendo considerações que caminharão pelo plano do atual e do atemporal. Para embasar o trabalho, autores como Nietzsche e Edgar Morin, tendo por norte a perspectiva nietzschiana de enxergar a vida e, no caso, a tecnologia, além do bem e do mal. Além disso, o diálogo com outras áreas do saber, como o xadrez, permitirá problematizar como que é possível uma simbiose (...) entre o ser humano e a tecnologia. (shrink)
