Divine Faculties and the Puzzle of Incompossibility.Julia Jorati - 2016 - In Brown Gregory & Yual Chiek, Leibniz on Compossibility and Possible Worlds. Cham: Springer. pp. 175–199.
Leibniz maintains that even though God’s intellect contains all possibles, some of these possibles are not compossible. This incompossibility of some possibles is supposed to explain which collections of possibles are possible worlds and why God does not actualize the collection of all possibles. In order to fully understand how this works, we need to establish what precisely Leibniz takes to be the source of incompossibility, that is, which divine attribute or faculty gives rise to the incompossibility of certain possibles. The renewal of dewey — trends in the nineties.Roswitha Lehmann-Rommel - 2000 - Studies in Philosophy and Education 19 (1):187-218.
This article proposes that the `renewal' of Dewey might contributeto filling the gap between the pedagogical commitment tocontingency and plurality and the fact that the pedagogicaltradition, until now, has neutralized contingency and deniedits systematic meaning for education. Therefore, the maintraits of the `renewal of Dewey' are shown in thework of some Dewey scholars who, critically and creatively, reconstruct Dewey in the mirror of poststructural, communicational and constructive theory developments.Following Dewey, these researches balance the objectiveevaluation of Dewey's work by a deliberate and (...)

Proceduralizing regulation: Part I.Black Julia - 2000 - Oxford Journal of Legal Studies 20 (4):597-614.
The solution frequently being advocated to a range of regulatory and indeed constitutional questions is to devise procedures for participation, for democratization. The aim of this article is to explore just what the shift to procedures and to participation might involve. The article will appear in this Journal in two parts. The first part distinguishes between two possible forms of proceduralization: «thin» proceduralization, based on a liberal model of democracy, and «thick» proceduralization, based on deliberative models of democracy. In exploring (...)

Clitoral reconstruction after female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C): on the difficulties of generating evidence and its normative implications for counseling practice.Mariacarla Gadebusch Bondio & Emilia Lehmann-Solomatin - 2024 - Ethik in der Medizin 36 (4):585-603.
Background Female genital mutilation and circumcision (FGM/C) practices present physicians in Germany with numerous challenges. One possible intervention is elective clitoral reconstruction for esthetic and physiological recovery after FGM/C. Even if the study situation regarding the results achieved by clitoral reconstruction is controversial, the range of reconstruction options is increasing. Arguments The aim of this study is to critically examine the epistemic and ethical dimensions of the interdisciplinary debate on clitoral reconstruction that has arisen over the last 20 years. It (...)

In all the literature about ethical dilemmas facing the accounting practitioner little attention has been paid to those which arise from the accountant's role in the process of accounting regulation. This treatment explores that role in the light of differing national modes of accounting regulation, economic impact issues in accounting regulation, some ethical principles and a number of different national illustrations. John Blake is Professor of Accounting in the Department of Accounting and Financial Services at the University of Central Lancashire, (...)

Social support as a regulator of self-care attitude in persons with myocardial infarction.Julia Anastazja Sienkiewicz Wilowska & Maciej Wilski - 2014 - Polish Psychological Bulletin 45 (4):521-532.
The article presents the results of research on the relationship between social support and self-care of people with myocardial infarction. 127 patients treated in a rehabilitation centre participated in the study. The Inventory of Socially Supportive Behaviours and the Self-care Questionnaire developed by the author, were used. The findings suggest that persons receiving little support are characterised by lower level of self-care than people with medium and high level of support. No such difference was noted between people with medium and (...)

Sinnott-Armstrong’s Empirical Challenge to Moral Intuitionism: a Novel Critique.Julia Hermann - 2017 - Ethical Theory and Moral Practice 20 (4):829-842.
This paper provides a novel critique of Walter Sinnott-Armstrong’s influential argument against epistemological moral intuitionism, the view that some people are non-inferentially justified in believing some moral propositions. At the beginning of the twenty-first century, this view experienced a revival, which coincided with an increasing interest in empirical research on intuitions. The results of that research are seen by some as casting serious doubt on the reliability of our moral intuitions. According to Sinnott-Armstrong, empirical evidence shows that our moral beliefs (...)

Hölzl palpates an ontology of fracture. Unlike original ontologies that are concerned with essence rather than being, the ontology proposed here does not believe in its originality. This project is concerned with becoming as such rather than with its Wesen. With the indefinite striving for remaining in itself. This ontology is a fissure, fissuring itself.
