O presente artigo tem por objectivo, em primeiro lugar, mostrar os diversos caminhos através dos quais a sociedade contemporânea tem progressivamente vindo a descobrir o problema ecológico. Num segundo passo, o artigo procede a uma análise das raízes histórico-culturais da redução da natureza a objecto de exploração por parte do ser humano, bem como dos diferentes modos mediante os quais este se relaciona com aquela, sublinhando de modo particular as consequências para o meio ambiente de um uso descontrolado da técnica (...) na transformação do mesmo. Finalmente, num terceiro momento, o autor analisa em que medida a filosofia, sob pressão da crise ecológica, está desenvolvendo um novo paradigma hermenêutico no qual não é apenas a concepção de filosofia que está submetida a uma profunda transformação, mas se verifica também uma incidência dessa transformação em algumas das disciplinas filosóficas básicas, tais como a metafísica, a ética, a antropologia e, evidentemente, a filosofia da natureza. /// The present article aims, first of all, to demonstrate the diverse paths by which contemporary society has progressively discovered the ecological problem. In a second moment, it will analyze the historical and cultural roots of the reduction of nature to an object to be exploited by humankind, along with the different ways by which the latter is related to the former. The consequences of the environment due to the uncontrolled use of technology in the transformation of nature will be underscored. Finally, the author considers how philosophy, pressed by the ecological crisis, is in the process of developing a new hermeneutical paradigm: not only is the conception of philosophy itself transformed but the transforming effect is spreading to other areas of philosophical investigation, e.g., metaphysics, ethics, anthropology, and- of course - the philosophy of nature. Todos observamos con inquietud un hecho incuestionable: el deterioro medioambiental de nuestro planeta «tierra». Muchos, además, reconocemos que la acción del hombre tiene mucho que ver con tal deterioro. Surge, por tanto, una pregunta ineludible: ¿Somos responsables de la crisis ecológica? Ésta, en ese caso, nos emplazaría ante un grave problema moral. En el pasado, la filosofía construyó los diferentes modelos de racionalidad práctica en función de los problemas a los que la humanidad tuvo que enfrentarse en un determinado momento (...) de su historia. De ahí que, tras los múltiples intentos de reconstruir aquella racionalidad, parezca pertinente hoy en día reivindicar una reconstrucción de la ética priorizando en ella el problema de la dimensión moral de la acción humana sobre la naturaleza. Este artículo pretende caracterizar a la bioética como un saber que acontece en la frontera del tiempo. Se trata de un saber de frontera, ubicado del lado del acontecer, por su carácter tentativo y abierto. La frontera del tiempo sitúa la conciencia moral en momentos de gestación, cuando la reflexión abunda en perplejidades y tantea respuestas. Existen dos modos de dar contenido a los relatos bioéticos: la memoria que recuerda y la esperanza que anticipa.

La cultura occidental padece una enfermedad endémica: el dualismo, con el riesgo de generar una cultura esquizofrénica. El reduccionismo antropológico reduce lo ético al ámbito exclusivo del hombre. Es necesario sustituir el mundo como entorno por el mundo como copertenencia, lo que nos lleva hacia una nueva imagen del hombre basada en dicho principio de copertenencia con el correpondiente cambio antropológico para evitar que el mayor peligro para el hombre sea el hombre. Escribir hoy en día un libro sobre hermenéutica, que tal hermenéutica se refiera a la desarrollada por G. Gadamer en su conocido Verdad y método y que se pretenda añadir algo nuevo a lo mucho escrito sobre el tema parecería, a primera vista, empresa irrealizable. Que ambas pretensiones inspiren la sólida monografía de María G. Navarro —titulada Interpretar y argumentar— constituye empresa audaz y arriesgada, plena de coraje innovador, que provoca admiración, curiosidad e interés. Contra lo que pudiera parecer a (...) primera vista, el libro contiene un alto componente de originalidad y creatividad, debido a la estratagema metodoló-gica de que se sirve la autora. A saber, una hermenéutica in obliquo, estrategia consistente en interpretar a la hermenéutica gadameriana a través del prisma de la lógica de la argumentación. (shrink)

This study examines the specificvalues held by consumers towards organic andconventionally produced meat, with particularreference to moral issues surrounding foodanimal production. A quota sample of 30 femalesfrom both a rural and an urban area of Scotland, were interviewed. Overall, there was lowcommitment towards the purchase of organicmeats and little concern for ethical issues.Price and product appearance were the primarymeat selection criteria, the latter being usedas a predictor of eating quality. Manyattitude-behavior anomalies were identified,mainly as a result of respondents' cognitivedissonance and (...) lack of understanding regardingmeat production criteria underpinning meatquality marks, e.g., Soil Association label.Responsibilities for ethical issues appeared tobe delegated by the consumer to the meatretailer or government. This raises issuesabout educating consumers and bringingconsumers closer to understanding meatproduction systems. A conceptual framework isproposed that illustrates the significance ofconsumer involvement in how meat-purchasingdecisions are approached in terms of theevaluation of tangible and or intangiblequality attributes. The results also point tothe need for further research into thoseaspects of quality that individuals tend toaddress at the level of the citizen,rather than at the point of purchase. (shrink)
