Abstract

Ibn Rushd represents the pinnacle of classical Arab-Islamic philosophy. The paper deals with the issue of Latin Averroism, which entails the reception and characteristic interpretation of Ibn Rushd's works in the West, at the heart of which is the theory of "double truth". Based on the analysis of the work Fasl al-maqal, the incompatibility of the said theory with Ibn Rushd's philosophical thought will be demonstrated, as well as its historical construction with other starting points and goals.
