Abstract

Sono pochi gli autori che si sono spinti così in là nell’impegno di restituire l’essere umano alla natura come hanno fatto Roger Caillois e su altre basi Gregory Bateson. Roger Caillois, pur senza rinnegare la specificità di cia­scuno ritiene che fra i tre regni, minerale, vegetale e animale, si diano nu­merosi e profondi elementi di continuità. In un universo finito numerosi elementi ricorrenti – rapporti, geometrie, motivi, disegni – attraversano sia la materia vivente che l’inorganico. Perfino l’essere umano, che pure può vantare una certa libertà, non può sviluppare la propria immaginazione, il proprio senso estetico se non sulla base di una sintassi generale le cui regole sono già abbozzate nei cristalli e nelle pietre. There are only few authors who went so far in the effort to return human being to nature as Roger Caillois and on other grounds Gregory Bateson did. Roger Caillois, without denying the specificity of each of them, belie­ves that among the three realms – minerals, vegetals, animals – there are many deep elements of continuity. In a finished universe many recurring elements – relations, geometries, motifs, drawings – belong both to the li­ving and to the inorganic matter. Even the human being, though he can enjoy some freedom, can’t develop his immagination, his aesthetic sense if not on the ground of a general syntax whose rules are already outlined in the cristals and in the rocks
