Abstract

Resumo O artigo aborda o pensamento de Emmanuel Lévinas a partir de duas perspectivas distintas mas complementares: numa primeira fase, recorrendo ao romance de guerra de Erich M. Remarque intitulado A l’Ouest Rien de Nouveau , procuraremos, com a ajuda de Jacques Derrida e de René Girard, desconstruir o pensamento de Lévinas, sustentando a ideia de que o “Humanismo do Outro Homem” contém vestígios de violência dissimulados percebíveis, quer a partir da interpretação levinasiana do referido romance, quer no modo como Lévinas resolve o problema da legítima defesa; numa segunda fase, demonstraremos que a restauração do pensamento de Lévinas passa, por um lado, pela noção de “filialidade” , a pedra basilar não corrosiva do pensamento de Lévinas e, por outro lado, pela ideia de que a “desfiguração” da fenomenologia e da ontologia, operada pelo autor, é aparente uma vez que estas não obstruam a alteridade mas antes a tornam possível. Remarque entitled A l’Ouest Rien de Nouveau , we will try, with the help of Jacques Derrida and René Girard, deconstruct the thought of Levinas, supporting the idea that the “Humanism of the Other Man” contains traces of perceivable covert violence, either from the Levinasian interpretation of the Novel, or in the way that Levinas solves the problem of self-defense; in a second phase, we will demonstrate that restoration of Levinas’s thought is, on one hand, the notion of “filiality” , the cornerstone non- -corrosive of Levinas’s thought, on the other hand, by using the idea of ‘defacement’ of phenomenology and ontology, used by the author, is apparent since they do not obstruct the alterity but rather becomes it possible.
