In Some Ways: Syādvāda as the Synthesis of Anekāntavāda and Nayavāda in Akalaṅka’s Philosophical Treatises.Shree Nahata - forthcoming - Journal of Indian Philosophy.
This paper investigates the relationship between the theory of many-sidedness (_anekāntavāda_), the theory of viewpoints (_nayavāda_), and the theory of sevenfold conditional predication (_syādvāda_) in the philosophical monographs of the Jaina philosopher Akalaṅka (c. 720-780 CE). Despite being celebrated as novel Jaina contributions to Indian philosophy, the mutual relationship between these three theories is poorly understood. Do these three theories represent three distinct frameworks with distinct purposes? Or do these three theories ultimately synthesise to form a single unified framework? Through (...)

    (1 other version)‘Harm threshold’: capacity for decision-making may be reduced by long-term pubertal suppression.Leena Nahata & Gwendolyn P. Quinn - 2020 - Journal of Medical Ethics 46 (11):759-760.
We applaud Notini and colleagues for highlighting the clinical and ethical complexities of a case in which a non-binary individual desires indefinite treatment with puberty blockers.1 While we agree discontinuing treatment may cause psychological distress, we believe there are potential physical and neurocognitive harms caused by prolonged treatment that have been underestimated given the limited research conducted to date. Specifically, the impact of permanent pubertal suppression on the brain and decision-making capacity should be considered. In this context, we outline the (...)

Vedant Darshan Ke Aayam.Ambika Dutta Sharma, Sanjay Kumar Shukla, Shree Prakash Pandey & Shushil Maitreyi (eds.) - 2013 - delhi: Akhil Bhartiya Darshan Parasid.
In the search for the ontic existence of man and curiosity about his ultimate destiny, the supreme wisdom(Prajñā) has been the origin and surge of the philosophical analysis of Vedāntic perspective. That is why Vedānta has been established as a spiritual religion in the cultural life and philosophical mind of India. Vedānta is the most dynamic philosophy of the Indian tradition and a philosophy of life with corresponding cultural scope. If India's spiritual-philosophical pride in world history and the possibility of (...)

  9. More Than a Biological Condition: The Heteronormative Framing of Infertility.Erika Maxwell, Maria Mathews & Shree Mulay - 2018 - Canadian Journal of Bioethics / Revue canadienne de bioéthique 1 (2):63-66.

The current living Tirthankara Shree Simandhar Swami.A. M. Patel - 2014 - Ahmadabad, Gujarat, India: Mr. Ajit C. Patel, Dada Bhagwan Aradhana Trust. Edited by Niruben Amin.
For anyone wondering what is spiritual enlightenment, it is essential to learn of the 24 Tirthankaras of the past, and Tirthankaras of the present. In previous eras, it was possible to achieve instant enlightenment simply from meeting a Tirthankara. At present, such sudden enlightenment is not possible here on earth. In the current era, if one is seeking spiritual awakening, one can search for spiritual teachers, with hopes of understanding the meaning of spirituality and achieving spiritual transformation. But to attain (...)

Reciprocal Interaction Between Śākta Theology and Ritual Praxis—a Study of Caṇḍī Pūjā and Devī Māhātmya in the Devī Mandir Community of Shree Maa.Zipei Tang - 2021 - Journal of Dharma Studies 4 (3):295-311.
Śākta tradition is one of the major branches of Hindu Theism which focuses on the divine feminine. Recent scholarly researches on Śākta tradition mainly orient toward either its sacred text or its ritual customs; however, textual exegesis and ritual studies have mostly been two separate spheres. This paper presents an attempt to integrate the two. It explores one of the most essential practices of Śākta tradition, the Caṇḍī pūjā, and discusses its relationship with Śākta theology in the principal Śākta text (...)
