Art, Technology, and Trans-Death Options.Reyes Espinoza - 2019 - In Dalila Honorato, María Antοnia González Valerio, Marta De Menez & Andreas Giannakoulopoulos (eds.), TABOO ‒ TRANSGRESSION ‒ TRANSCENDENCE in Art & Science 2018. Corfu, Greece: Ionian University Publications. pp. 194-199.
Death across human history is codified and controlled by religion, dogma, or social￾political circumstances. However, it is possible to take death out of these realms, instead dying how one wishes. One can design their own death. I will argue that human trans-death can be an intentional performance by persons and that this intentional performance can be combined with the newest and most novel methods of preserving a consciousness. This thesis opens possibilities for future exhibitions and live performances combining art and (...)

An Interview with Leonard Harris.Reyes Espinoza & Leonard Harris - 2024 - Social Philosophy Today 40:187-199.
Mass incarceration in the United States of America, Palestine/Israel in a renewed war since October 7, 2023, and displacement of the underclass in nation-states throughout the planet—these are moral situations of group conflicts and catastrophes at national and international levels. These three situations are our main practical points of reflection for moral inquiry and criticism. We discuss these three moral situations of group conflict and catastrophes in the context of critical pragmatism, largely following and analyzing the moral philosophy of critical (...)

The Principles of Mathematics (PM) (1903). En este artículo exponemos sucintamente dicha teoría semántica, examinamos detalladamente el pasaje en cuestión y exploramos algunas de las interpretaciones que pretenden desentrañar su sentido. Con ello mostramos, en primer lugar, que la crítica (...)

Dynamic Functional Connectivity Predicts Treatment Response to Electroconvulsive Therapy in Major Depressive Disorder.Hossein Dini, Mohammad S. E. Sendi, Jing Sui, Zening Fu, Randall Espinoza, Katherine L. Narr, Shile Qi, Christopher C. Abbott, Sanne J. H. van Rooij, Patricio Riva-Posse, Luis Emilio Bruni, Helen S. Mayberg & Vince D. Calhoun - 2021 - Frontiers in Human Neuroscience 15.
Background: Electroconvulsive therapy is one of the most effective treatments for major depressive disorder. Recently, there has been increasing attention to evaluate the effect of ECT on resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging. This study aims to compare rs-fMRI of depressive disorder patients with healthy participants, investigate whether pre-ECT dynamic functional network connectivity network estimated from patients rs-fMRI is associated with an eventual ECT outcome, and explore the effect of ECT on brain network states.Method: Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging data were (...)

Indigenous Environmental Interests and their Connection to Anthropogenic Climate Change.Reyes Espinoza - 2018 - Ethic@: An International Journal for Moral Philosophy 17 (3):445–460.
This research advocates a strategy to mitigate or prevent further anthropogenic climate change and preserve natural resources. The strategy takes into account mechanisms of social and moral norms, which are innate in humanity due to millions of years of evolution. Social norms themselves are not innate, but the mechanisms to acquire them and implement them are. To slow down anthropogenic climate change global forces, inclusive of governments, NGOs, and collective humanity, should help indigenous peoples to protect their territories and property. (...)

Toward an Ethics of Tragic Uncertainty: Miguel de Unamuno and Global Social Conflict.Reyes Espinoza - 2019 - Dissertation, Purdue University
My dissertation is in two parts. First, it develops a philosophical concept of “tragic uncertainty,” derived from early twentieth-century Spanish philosopher Miguel de Unamuno. Secondly, it demonstrates ethical application of tragic uncertainty to human societal events. The ethical imperative created from tragic uncertainty—and not either tragedy or uncertainty alone—is the following. Given a tragic situation with a great degree of uncertainty, people living with doubt, mental despair, and perpetual anguish because of it should be provided relief. Generally, this relief should (...)

    Travail et processus constituant : en suivant le fil d'Ariane.Rubén Espinoza - 2003 - Multitudes 4 (4):165-174.
How can we picture the days of December 19th and 20th 2001 ? Where can we trace its origins and driving force? Which has been the leading subject? Are there any clues which enable us to recognize the movement as well as the obstacles it will have to overcome? The labour of the movement in Argentina does not only show the peculiarities of our history, but it also refutes the series of arguments on universal circulation asserting that the passage front (...)
