Este estudio tiene como propósito explicar la relatividad del secreto médico y la actuación del médico perito. El secreto profesional médico es un derecho a la intimidad y constituye obligación ineludible para el personal de la salud, los pacientes y peritados, de ahí que todo lo que revelen deba ser guardado para evitar daños a la vida privada de los individuos. Desde el punto de vista ético el secreto médico profesional obliga al perito a no revelar más de lo necesario (...) para el peritaje, así como a no divulgar dicho informe, limitándose a entregarlo solamente a quienes tuvieran derecho a él. This study aims at explaining the relativity of medical secrecy and the performance of the medical expert. The medical professional secrecy is a right to privacy and it is an unavoidable obligation for the health staff, and assessed patients, hence everything they reveal must be stored to prevent damage to the private life of individuals. From the ethical point of view medical confidentiality forces the expert not to disclose more than necessary for the expertise, as well as not to disclose such report, just limited to be delivered to those who had right to it. COVID-19 is an acute respiratory illness with higher mortality in older adults. This condition is spread person-to-person through close contact, and among policies employed to decrease transmission are the improvement of hygiene habits and physical distancing. Although social distancing has been recognized as the best way to prevent the transmission, there are concerns that it may promote increased depression symptoms risk and anxiety, mainly in older adults. This cross-sectional study aimed to verify self-concept of social distancing in adults compared to (...) older adults. All participants, over 18 years and residents of São Paulo state, were invited to join this research study by a message application and answered an interdisciplinary questionnaire during the period from May 23 to June 23, 2020. The questions were divided into the following aspects: sociodemographic data, financial conditions, routine-related perception, perception of health, physical and emotional state, and eating habits. The younger adult group was composed of 139 participants, with a mean age of 43.15 years, and the older adult group was composed of 437 participants with a mean age of 67.59 years of both sex. Changes in routine during the period of social distance were reported by 95% of adults and 96.8% of older adults, but adults indicated more significant alterations in routine. Although there was no difference between groups for several aspects, adults revealed greater alterations in sleep quality, evacuation frequency, and more difficulty to perform daily activities at home. Further studies are necessary to follow up the impacts of social distancing among adults and older adults in different socioeconomic contexts to better understand the long-term alterations and the necessity of interventions. Several countries have implemented COVID-19 health passes or certificates to promote a safer return to in-person social activities. These passes have been proposed as a way to prove that someone has been vaccinated, has recovered from the disease, or has negative results on a diagnostic test. However, many people have questioned their ethical justification. This article presents some practical and ethical problems to consider in the event of wishing to implement these passes. Among the former, it is questioned how accurate (...) diagnostic tests are as a means of ensuring that a person is not contagious, whether vaccination guarantees immunity, the fact that health passes can be forged, whether they encourage vaccination, and the problem that there is no universally recognized health pass. Among the ethical issues, it is discussed whether health passes promote discrimination and inequality and whether they violate rights to privacy and freedom. It is concluded that health passes have enough ethical justification to be implemented. (shrink)

Teniendo en cuenta el concepto de Michel Foucault sobre la confesión, se ha analizado al agente de la Policía Nacional del Paraguay según lo mencionado por los psicólogos de la institución. ¿Cómo se ha dado el contexto de atención?, y ¿cuáles han sido las fundamentales causales de consulta?, aquellas preguntas se radicaron en las indagaciones guías por parte de cuatro terapeutas que se desempeñaron en un hospital especializado y en dos comisarías de la ciudad de Asunción. Con respecto a las (...) principales conclusiones, el agente ha necesitado de una imperiosa contención y de un profundo cambio en sus formas de ser, y modos de relacionarse con sus compañeros y con los externos a su profesión, población en general y allegados. La Policía Nacional Paraguaya no fue un grupo homogéneo, que solo se ha dedicado a acatar órdenes, ha gozado de una vivencia diaria, definida por sus prácticas que ha afectado a sus miembros y, en algunas ocasiones, la ha llevado a confesar sus dramas, con el fin de ser mejores personas, fundamentalmente en los contextos familiares; así, la confesión policial se entendería como una “técnica de sí”. Janina Hosiasson-Lindenbaum is a known figure in philosophy of probability of the 1930s. A previously unpublished manuscript fills in the blanks in the full picture of her work on inductive reasoning by analogy, until now only accessible through a single publication. In this paper, I present Hosiasson’s work on analogical reasoning, bringing together her early publications that were never translated from Polish, and the recently discovered unpublished work. I then show how her late work relates to Rudolf Carnap’s approach to (...) “analogy by similarity” developed in the 1960s. Hosiasson turns out to be a predecessor of the line of research that models analogical influence as inductive relevance. A translation of Hosiasson’s manuscript concludes the paper. (shrink)

RESUMEN En este artículo se presenta una reflexión crítica de la propuesta ética liberal de Charles Taylor y su viabilidad en el contexto político de las sociedades liberales actuales. Una conformación social y política liberal se entiende como aquella donde se promueven y se defiende mayores libertades en esquemas de derechos individuales junto con la exigencia del respeto a esas garantías individuales. Sin embargo, el contexto político liberal, siendo el más idóneo en las sociedades actuales, presenta varios problemas éticos que (...) Taylor ya ha identificado como malestares de la modernidad, tales como el exceso de individualismo, la primacía de la razón instrumental y la fragmentación y polarización de la sociedad. Ante estos retos y conflictos que surgen por el propio liberalismo, la ética de Taylor es una alternativa posible para comprenderlos y gestionarlos desde un civismo ético y la promoción de metas comunes. ABSTRACT This article presents a critical reflection on the liberal ethical proposal of Charles Taylor and its viability in the political context of current liberal societies. A liberal social and political configuration is understood as one in which greater liberties are promoted and defended in individual rights schemes together with the requirement of respect for those individual guarantees. However, the liberal political context although the most suitable in current societies, presents several ethical problems that Taylor has already identified as the malaise of modernity: excess of individualism, primacy of instrumental reason and fragmentation and polarization of the society. Faced with these challenges and conflicts arising from the liberalism itself, Taylor's ethics is a possible alternative to understand and manage them from an ethical civility and the promotion of common goals. Physical education is often selected for applying multilingual initiatives through the use of the content and language integrated learning (CLIL) approach. However, it is still unclear whether the introduction of such approach might entail losing Physical Education’s essence and distorting its basic purposes. The aim of this study is to analyse the impact of CLIL on the Physical Education lessons. Given the purpose of this study, a mixed methodological approach based on a sequential exploratory design divided in two different phases (...) is used. We begin with an initial qualitative data collection (phase I) consisting in the analysis of interviews with 12 participants (8 teachers and 4 students). Based on its analysis, two foci are identified: social relationships and physical activity. Then, informed by the results obtained, a quantitative approach is used (phase II), differentiating these two sets of data to deepen on them. On one part, a sociometric questionnaire was applied to analyse the social relationships among CLIL students. On the other part, a quasi-experimental design (n = 49) was implemented using accelerometry to measure the MVPA of the PE sessions. Regarding physical activity, the results show that levels of MVPA are higher in the experimental group (CLIL) than in the control group showing light to the divergent viewpoints of interviewees. However, focusing on social relationships, the sociometric questionnaire results show that there were no statistical significative changes, although some signs of a slight effect on students’ relationships arise depending on their gender. Therefore, more research would be necessary to deepen on how CLIL affects in this regard. (shrink)

The author discusses professional teaching ethics and its main principles and values. The theoretical basis of the study is ethics of social consequences and, in its context, primarily the principles and values of humanity and human dignity, including their possible application in the teaching profession and, partially, in the process of teaching foreign languages and Slovak as a foreign language to students from abroad.

Advance directives have been hailed for two decades as the best way to safeguard patients’ autonomy when they are totally or partially incompetent. In many national contexts they are written into law and they are mostly associated with end-of-life decisions. Although advocates and critics of ADs exchange relevant empirical and theoretical arguments, the debate is inconclusive. We argue that this is so for good reasons: the ADs’ project is fraught with tensions, and this is the reason why they are both (...) important and deeply problematic. We outline six such tensions, and conclude with some positive suggestions about how to better promote patients’ autonomy in end-of-life decision. We argue that ADs should continue to be an option but they cannot be the panacea that they are expected to be. (shrink)

The paper traces briefly the properties of the high priest in the OT and summarizes how this figure is presented in the works by Philo. The high priest is presented in the Philonic texts with three characteristics: 1.- as a mediator (Fug. 108-115); 2.- completely sinless (Fug. 117-118; Spec. 1. 80-81); 3.- invested by the four elements (Mos. 2. 117-130; Spec. 1. 84-96). The classical phenomenology of writing, postulated by such literacy theoreticians as Walter J. Ong, and Marshall McLuhan, focuses on writing as an instrument of intellectual emancipation, as a technology of intellect. In this article I claim that their view is too narrow. Firstly, as David R. Olson, Harvey Graff and Michel de Certeau point, writing may be an instrument of power and discipline. Secondly, reading and writing are not only the mental practices of scripts organization and interpretation. Główną tezą artykułu jest próba udowodnienia istnienia zapomnianego ogniwa kryminału retro w dobie PRL na przykładzie opowiadań Sławomira Siereckiego. W tym kontekście autorka interpretuje utwory, które ukazały się pod wspólnym tytułem Jutro przed północą. Znajdujemy w nich intertekstualny dyskurs z twórczością Conan Doyle’a, Arsena Lupina i kryminału amerykańskiego. Sierecki nawiązuje w ich obrębie do trzech odmian powieści detektywistycznej, prezentując kryminalne historie od końca XIX wieku aż po rok 1929. Analizowane opowiadania łączy formuła pastiszowych odniesień do wspomnianych twórców oraz towarzysząca im (...) sceneria Trójmiasta (Gdańska, Sopotu i Gdyni). Historia nie tylko jest tu dekoracją, ale poddana zostaje ideologizacji w ramach prezentacji polityki historycznej, najbardziej widocznej w Szkatułce z Hongkongu. Autorka w swojej interpretacji opowiadań skupia się przede wszystkim na odczytaniu charakteru kryminalnego dyskursu, gdyż jest on głównym wyznacznikiem tej retropowieści i to dzięki niemu można uznać opowiadania Siereckiego za początkowe ogniwo kryminału retro w polskiej literaturze. Nieprzypadkowo ta ucieczka w przeszłość wiąże się z kryzysem powieści milicyjnej w schyłkowym okresie PRL. (shrink)

Here they are revised notions of the Western tradition that conform the discourse of poetic reason, and the way that Maria Zambrano assumed them. Her thought examines the possibilities of the words, either poetic or philosophical, to allow persons to get conscience. She attempts to unify both types of words using a notion of love as essential intent for dealing with the otherness, allowing, also, the human being conscious reflection on the affectivity. To achieve this, she revises culture to find (...) ideas and examples to support the poetic reason as loving and hopeful reflection and as a possibility of the humanity to know about its own feelings. Como judío tuvo que huir del nazismo, exiliarse y recorrer el eje Berlín-París-Hollywood, trayecto frecuentado por otros directores, actrices y actores germanos. Como director de cine no venía precedido por una gran fama, por lo que tuvo que abrirse camino en Hollywood con mucho esfuerzo. El éxito de su primera película con la joven soprano Deanna Durbin consolidó su posición y le permitió definir un estilo que le acompañaría a (...) lo largo de toda su producción americana: su preferencia por un “cine blanco” –en contraste con sus compatriotas, que optaron por el “cine negro”–, es decir, un cine en el que los protagonistas encuentran diversos aliados que les ayudan a perseverar en el bien. Sus primeras etapas en Hollywood permiten analizar filosóficamente su cine, concediéndole un cierto estatuto de autor, descubriendo rasgos propios, como la introducción de la música clásica como signo de elevación moral o la explicitación de la dimensión religiosa y sobrenatural en la búsqueda del bien de algunos de sus personajes. Escarmentado del materialismo antihumano del nazismo, propuso un estilo en el que los resortes hacia el bien humano adquiriesen plasticidad expresiva. (shrink)

En el siguiente texto se expone la vinculación entre el trabajo, la subjetividad y el sufrimiento desde la perspectiva de la psicodinámica del trabajo. Se presenta la utilidad del psicoanálisis para pensar la relación entre el trabajo y la democracia, así como los efectos de las transformaciones del trabajo sobre la erosión del vínculo social. Asimismo, se exponen las principales tesis de la psicodinámica del trabajo, relativas al impacto del giro neoliberal en la gestión empresarial, al sufrimiento producido por la (...) competencia y a la reivindicación de un concepto marxiano de trabajo vivo, que repercute en la comprensión de las dimensiones individuales y colectivas del trabajo y en la comprensión de la inteligencia y el cuerpo en situación de trabajo. Background:Evidence indicates that the processing of facial stimuli may be influenced by incidental factors, and these influences are particularly powerful when facial expressions are ambiguous, such as neutral faces. However, limited research investigated whether emotional contextual information presented in a preceding and unrelated experiment could be pervasively carried over to another experiment to modulate neutral face processing.Objective:The present study aims to investigate whether an emotional text presented in a first experiment could generate negative emotion toward neutral faces in a second (...) experiment unrelated to the previous experiment.Methods:Ninety-nine students (all women) were randomly assigned to read and evaluate a negative text (negative context) or a neutral text (neutral text) in the first experiment. In the subsequent second experiment, the participants performed the following two tasks: (1) an attentional task in which neutral faces were presented as distractors and (2) a task involving the emotional judgment of neutral faces.Results:The results show that compared to the neutral context, in the negative context, the participants rated more faces as negative. No significant result was found in the attentional task.Conclusion:Our study demonstrates that incidental emotional information available in a previous experiment can increase participants’ propensity to interpret neutral faces as more negative when emotional information is directly evaluated. Therefore, the present study adds important evidence to the literature suggesting that our behavior and actions are modulated by previous information in an incidental or low perceived way similar to what occurs in everyday life, thereby modulating our judgments and emotions. En este ensayo discuto si deberíamos entender la objetividad que predicamos de juicios evaluativos en los mismos términos en que lo hacemos de juicios epistémicos. Argumento a favor de un entendimiento de dominio específico de la objetividad, según el cual deberíamos ver a la verdad como central para la objetividad epistémica, pero no para la objetividad evaluativa. Sin embargo, esta posición tradicionalmente ha conducido a ver los juicios evaluativos como subjetivos. Aquí argumento que la carencia de valores de verdad no (...) necesariamente conduce al subjetivismo; no, si no se conciben los juicios evaluativos como expresiones de sentimientos o deseos sin ninguna restricción racional. Más que en el concepto de verdad, en el caso de la objetividad de juicios evaluativos, el énfasis debe ponerse en el de justificación. Sin embargo, este concepto por sí solo no es garante de objetividad (del mismo modo en que tampoco lo es el de verdad). Trato de ahondar en algunas de las condiciones para predicar objetividad de juicios evaluativos y para ello también distingo entre tipos de objetividad. (shrink)

O presente artigo expõe, inicialmente, um panorama da sociedade contemporânea, a qual se apresenta como programada para o consumo e é marcada pelas exigências de um mercado capitalista e neoliberal, visando demonstrar de que forma tais características influenciam e determinam a construção da subjetividade dos indivíduos. Nesse contexto, o texto analisa as consequências das referidas configurações sociais no campo educacional, em especial no ensino de filosofia. Ademais, busca-se ressaltar o modo como são desenvolvidas as relações de poder, pautadas essencialmente pelo (...) caráter opressivo. Como proposta para o desenvolvimento de práticas de ensino nesse cenário, de modo a não reproduzir o modelo vigente, cujo objetivo é a construção de um sujeito eficiente em termos de produção, é apontado o ensino de filosofia a partir do eixo problemático. Esse modelo, na concepção do filósofo Sílvio Gallo, é uma das formas mais adequadas de propiciar aos estudantes a experiência do pensar crítico, fugindo de um ensino mecanicista, reprodutor de um sistema de controle e normatização. Por fim, é apresentada a ética do cuidado de si ou a estética da existência, a partir dos estudos de Michel Foucault. À luz dessa concepção, busca-se analisar as suas possíveis contribuições para o ensino de filosofia, entendido como uma forma de resistência às práticas criadas pelos estados modernos com o objetivo de domesticar, subjugar e controlar os indivíduos. Entendemos que o ensino de filosofia torna-se uma práxis libertadora, que desperta nos sujeitos o pensar crítico, criativo e reflexivo, de modo a se tornar uma forma de resistência contra as lógicas de controle e alienação das subjetividades. En el presente art´ıculo exploramos la carencia de valor que tiene la muerte, el cese de la vida de una persona, para la filosof ´ıa estoica, que con-sidera a aquella como uno de los factores indiferentes o adi´aphora (“no prefe-ribles”) para la felicidad humana. La idea del “temor hacia la muerte”, comoun sentimiento incorrecto, repercuti´o en la pol´ıtica cotidiana de la Roma im-perial; seg´un concluimos, esta circunstancia demuestra el car´acter pragm´aticoy terap´eutico de la Stoa, escuela que siempre busc´o eliminar tal (...) temor. Through the ethnographic record of the subsistence activities partially or completely performed in the domestic sphere in two Mbyá-Guaraní settlements in Misiones, we outline factors important in describing the local natural environment. Data was collected through systematic observation and also through semi-structured interviews. Analysis indicates that the natural environment of the area is characterized by the indigenous community in several different ways. Thus, local people view the environment as made up of different “micro-environments,” and they consequently think of the elements (...) that compose these “micro-environments” as having different, distinct characteristics. In the context of their daily activities, both these “micro-environments” and the elements that compose them are regarded as resources, in that they are viewed in terms of what is in them relevant to the subsistence of these groups in the rainforest. It is the intention of this study to initiate the systematic recording and processing of information on how these indigenous communities know and manage the natural resources available to them in their daily life. Bernard Bolzano presents in his work Wissenschaftslehre a definition of derivability among sentences. Tarski publishes his well-known definition of logical consequence almost one hundred years later. This article intends to prove that the Bolzano´s definition is fully satisfactory compared to the Tarski´s one, even though no attention was drawn to Bolzano´s definition at that time.

In the present paper we analyze the approach that sustains that history´s study is useful for the political activities improvement. Nowadays it is considered that the historian must not elaborate his works thinking to achieve an influence on the politics. Nevertheless, during the XIX century and previously, has been a different approach. Our reflection focus on two conspicuous works of the nineteenth century about the historical discipline: Historik by Johann G. Droysen and On the use and abuse of history for (...) life by Friedrich Nietzsche. This article dives on the moral role given to the study of history, as well as dives on the causes, postulated by both thinkers, that explain why history leads to a personal overcoming. A partir d'una anàlisi de la pena de mort, una de les violacions de drets humans més difí-cils de combatre, atès que està legalitzada en molts països, aquest article és una reflexiósobre l'aspecte temporal de la violència, i l'ús explícit del temps com a forma de tortura.

En el presente artículo analizamos la novela gráfica Pax Romana (Jonathan Hickman 2007) como una representación de las posturas de la filosofía de la historia de la Ilustración. El discurso prevaleciente en la mayoría de los personajes y en la trama, argumentamos, es equiparable con la concepción de la Historia del positivismo y el marxismo. Establecemos que, en esta visionaria muestra del noveno arte, la filosofía de la historia ilustrada prevalece sobre la filosofía de la historia cristiana, pese a que (...) gran parte del hilo argumental haya recaído en personajes que representan la dirigencia de la Iglesia Católica. El desenlace de la miniserie evidencia el triunfo, a través de los viajes en el tiempo, de las metas de la Ilustración, como lo son la difusión de la Razón, la ciencia, el Progreso y el bienestar en todo el orbe. Sorpresivamente, en tanto que los viajes en el tiempo son planificados por el Vaticano, se dejan a un lado los presupuestos básicos de la filosofía de la historia cristiana, principalmente la idea de que el Reino de Dios no se dará en la Tierra sino en un lugar metafísico, en el Final de los Tiempos. Several lines of research within developmental psychology, experimental semiotics and language origins studies have recently converged in their interest in pantomime as a system of bodily communication distinct from both language (spoken or signed) and nonlinguistic gesticulation. These approaches underscore the effectiveness of pantomime, which despite lack of semiotic conventions is capable of communicating complex meanings. However, very little research is available on the structural underpinnings of this effectiveness, that is, the specific properties of pantomime that determine its communicative success. (...) To help fill in this gap, we conducted an exploratory rating study aimed at identifying those properties of pantomime that facilitate its understanding. We analysed an existing corpus of 602 recordings of whole-body re-enactments of short transitive events, coding each of them for 6 properties, and found out that the presence of salient elements (conspicuous objects in a specific semantic space), image mapping (representing the physical orientation of the object), and gender markers (distinguishing between the represented characters) increased the guessability of pantomimes. In Category Mistakes, Magidor proposes that sortal restrictions should be viewed as pragmatic presuppositions. This contrasts with recent linguistic theories of successfully resolved category mistakes, e.g. coercions or copredication. It has been argued that for the proper treatment of such examples, sortal restrictions should be expressed by semantic presuppositions since they need to interact with compositional semantics. I explore possible ways in which Magidor’s theory could be extended to explain examples of coercion and copredication. The outcome of the discussion is (...) that incorporation of these facts into Magidor’s pragmatic system might be possible, but ecessitates choices that are far from trivial. (shrink)

ABSTRACT:In these Conversations, Robert Veatch reveals remarkable moments of his intellectual journey through bioethics. In Part I, he recalls some of the major historical events that contributed to modern bioethics development from the 1970s onward. Going back more than one decade, he emphasizes the impact of the Antiwar and Civil Rights movements, his pacifist ideals, and his engagement as an activist. In Part II, Veatch discusses the core of his theoretical proposal for bioethics, which is based on seven principles. He (...) explains how his principles work in practice and why he defends the lexical ordering strategy, prioritizing the duty-based principles over consequentialist ones. Finally, he addresses the issue of the universality of ethical principles while, at the same time, acknowledging that different cultural values may condition the interpretation of a problem and, thus, lead to a different conclusion. Après avoir situé la démonologie de l’Aquinate par rapport à son angélologie et au dogme, l’article étudie les notions de bonté et intégrité de la nature des anges déchus, que Thomas d’Aquin élabore en s’appuyant sur le quatrième chapitre du De divinis nominibus. L’enquête est conduite à partir de l’examen du riche dossier angélologique constitué à l’occasion de la rédaction du De substantiis separatis et vise à préciser le rôle que la (re)lecture de Denys joue dans l’élaboration de la pensée (...) démonologique thomiste. On montre ainsi comment, en suivant Denys, Thomas harmonise la notion aristotélicienne de nature comme essence figée et inaltérable avec celle augustinienne d’une nature susceptible par contre d’amoindrissement et défaillance. Le but étant moins de caractériser la démonologie thomiste comme dionysienne que d’observer l’interaction substantielle chez Thomas entre sources et doctrine, on évoque le triptyque formé par l’opuscule inachevé De substantiis separatis et les commentaires au Liber de causis et à la Métaphysique comme dernier exemple de la manière de travailler de l’Aquinate, entre philosophie et théologie, tradition et spéculation.
