Il saggio si propone di ricostruire e discutere le linee principali del dibattito che negli ultimi anni si è prodotto sul tema della “giustizia riparativa” per violenze di massa e in particolare sulle riparazioni monetarie come strumento di pacificazione e giustizia. I differenti giudizi e le molteplici problematiche relative alle procedure di monetizzazione della riparazione sono inquadrati all’interno del più ampio campo delle “politiche della memoria”. Starting from the current revival of the debate around the issue of solidarity, this introductory contribution to the monographic section of «Scienza & Politica» aims to highlighting the epistemological function of this concept in the constitution of the time and the space of social regulation. Taking into consideration the contribution of sociology to the construction and the development of the twentieth-century welfare state, it treats and questions the heuristic and normative capacity of the concept of solidarity in front of the (...) challenges that globalization poses to the economic and social possibility of a societal regulation of global interdependencies. We asked a series of questions to Luca Cobbe and Paola Rudan, authors of two books foregrounding the turning point of the 18th century by which, moving from the experience of the revolution, the structure of the constitution and configuration of government were deeply rethought. The two works, respectively about David Hume and Jeremy Bentham, contribute significantly to illuminate the way by which obedience has been reconsidered when society and opinion became the sources of political legitimation. This dialogue at distance (...) clearly shows the presence of a plurality of constitutional registers which were necessary for the affirmation of the centrality of government in the era of the rising popular sovereignty.
