Les principes fondamentaux régissant les rapports entre l’espace, le temps, l’objet et la causalité sont présentés et examinés. Il est découvert, par des expériences de pensée successives, que l’abandon de l’un ou l’autre de ces principes permettrait peut-être de résoudre de façon neuve des difficultés classiques de la philosophie comme la flèche de Zénon, Achille et la tortue ou le bateau de Thésée. Sont révélés à cette occasion plusieurs asymétries importantes existant entre l’espace et le temps, dans leurs rôles respectifs (...) vis-à-vis des objets matériels et de la relation causale. Reading and writing are fundamental skills students need to be successful in college, making literacy development an issue of education equity. The literacy skills can be content-specific, indicating faculty members across disciplines need to support student development of appropriate literacy skills. The extent to which faculty members support student literacy development is likely associated with their literacy-focused education equity mindset. The goal of our research was to document the mindset of faculty members across multiple disciplines. We gathered a combination of (...) quantitative and qualitative data from 345 college faculty members using a survey. We found variations in the mindset strength between disciplines, by the number of students taught, gender, and age. Overall the faculty members held a moderate literacy-focused education equity mindset. The findings have implications for student inclusion, retention, and completion. (shrink)

La pensée esthétique de Schopenhauer trouve sa vérité dans la confrontation à l’éthique. L’art est selon lui le moyen que trouve le sujet pour s’extraire du monde. L’esthétique est le lieu où le discours analyse la distance avec le monde permise par l’art. Dans ce mécanisme est anticipé le philosophe artiste nietzschéen, mais aussi est entérinée par delà la progression de l’esthétique à l’éthique une esthétisation de l’éthique. Celle-ci sera celle de la souffrance dont la tragédie est l’illustration.

Dans sa conception de la métaphysique, Schopenhauer occupe une position paradoxale. Il anticipe Nietzsche et prépare le terrain à l’anéantissement de la métaphysique, en montrant en quoi elle est un savoir qui a perdu ses bases ; mais en même temps il la replace au centre de l’enjeu philosophique en la promouvant au cœur de toute philosophie.

The discourse on death and many indigenous African mortuary practices have received critical attention and scholarship. However, little attention has been paid to indigenous African burial practices in relation to public health, disease and crime control. This article explores how forms and causes of death determine social control systems and medical philosophies of interment in Cameroon. The paper focuses on the philosophical foundations birthing the _PfenəMbvɨmə_ (_the bottomless burial site_) in Kedjom-Keku.
