Annmarie Mol on the Way to Multiple Ontologies.Evgeny N. Ivakhnenko - 2019 - Epistemology and Philosophy of Science 56 (3):219-224.
The article critically examines the ideas of the Dutch philosopher and ethnologist Annemarie Mol. Her main work, “The Body Multiple: Ontology in Medical Practice”, is mainly subjected to analysis. According to the author of the article, A. Mol managed to offer his own version of the “ontological turn” and, perhaps, change the accents in the entire theoretical repertoire of actor-network theory (ANT). She, carrying out a “police investigation” in hospital Z, was able to show the multiplicity of ontologies of the (...)

    Neuronal basis of imagery.Evgeni N. Sokolov - 2002 - Behavioral and Brain Sciences 25 (2):210-210.
The depiction of pictures as specified points in a functional space is achieved by vector encoding. Picture-selective neurons are added to the declarative memory in the process of learning. New neurons are recruited from stem cells through their proliferation and differentiation. Electrical stimulation of the temporo-parietal cortex produces subjective scenes of the past similar to imagery.

    Evgeny N. Trubetskoy and Overcoming the Neo-Kantian Kant.Alexei N. Krouglov - 2016 - Russian Studies in Philosophy 54 (5):408-421.
In his later work, Metafizicheskie predpolozheniia poznaniia. Opyt preodoleniia Kanta i kantianstva [Metaphysical Presuppositions of Knowledge. An Attempt to Overcome Kant and Kantianism], Evgeny N. Trubetskoy tried to overcome the Kantian tradition in philosophy in order to advance his conception of all-unity and the philosophy of absolute and unconditional consciousness. Despite insisting on the distinction between the “historical Kant” and Neo-Kantianism, in reality Trubetskoy was strongly dependent on the Neo-Kantian interpretation of Kant’s philosophy, which meant that his fight against (...)

    Towards a “New Epistemology”: Yuk Hui’s Recursivity and Contingency.Evgeniy N. Ivakhnenko - 2022 - Epistemology and Philosophy of Science 59 (3):220-233.
The article critically examines the project of the Hong Kong philosopher Yuk Hui to create organological and cosmotechnical epistemology. To open up the prospect of a “new epistemology” of this kind, Hui carries out a historical and rational reconstruction of the 250-year movement of European thought – from German idealism to second-order cybernetics. In all these theories and approaches, he reveals the key role of the recursive-contingent ligament. But what has happened in recent decades that prompted the author to reassemble (...)

    A Two-Point-of-View Approach to the Vienna Circle.Eugene N. Ivakhnenko - 2024 - Epistemology and Philosophy of Science 61 (1):44-52.
The author proposes to consider the activities of the Vienna Circle from two different perspectives. One approach reveals the intellectual efforts of the Vienna logicians to bring the order of thought in line with the social and political „Ordnung“ in Austria in the 1930s. It also brings to light the clash between the “exact thinking” and M. Heidegger’s „Das Nichts“, as well as the “new order”, whose adherents sought support not in logic, but in the collective unconscious. The other perspective (...)

The Archaeology of Urban Conflict: From Plato to Henri Lefebvre.Evgeny Karchagin - 2023 - Sociology of Power 35 (1):51-70.
The article provides an analysis of the Western tradition related to the problem of conflict in the urban context. It analyzes problems of urban justice based on the topization associated with Plato's political philosophy. The article substantiates the naturalness of the state of war and conflict in the urban environment. The city is shown as a primary political field, a primordial political locus, within which civil conflict is embedded. According to Plato, conflict permeates not only poleis, but also individuals, households (...)

  10. Effortless Attention: A New Perspective in the Cognitive Science of Attention and Action.Brian Bruya (ed.) - 2010 - MIT Press.
This is the first book to explore the cognitive science of effortless attention and action. Attention and action are generally understood to require effort, and the expectation is that under normal circumstances effort increases to meet rising demand. Sometimes, however, attention and action seem to flow effortlessly despite high demand. Effortless attention and action have been documented across a range of normal activities--from rock climbing to chess playing--and yet fundamental questions about the cognitive science of effortlessness have gone largely unasked. Entangled histories of plague ecology in Russia and the USSR.Susan D. Jones & Anna A. Amramina - 2018 - History and Philosophy of the Life Sciences 40 (3):49.
During the mid-twentieth century, Soviet scientists developed the “natural focus” theory–practice framework to explain outbreaks of diseases endemic to wild animals and transmitted to humans. Focusing on parasitologist-physician Evgeny N. Pavlovsky and other field scientists’ work in the Soviet borderlands, this article explores how the natural focus framework’s concepts and practices were entangled in political as well as material ecologies of knowledge and practice. We argue that the very definition of endemic plague incorporated both hands-on materialist experience and ideological (...)

It is told about those who played a major role in the development of bioethics as a training course, what difficulties and successes were along this path. The logic of the institutionalization of bioethics through the creation of ethical examination procedures is traced. Actual problems of bioethics, as well as ongoing bioethical activities are not covered (...)
