Šiame straipsnyje aptariamas laiko (kāla) suvokimas brahmaniškose, budistų ir džainų mokyklose remiantis pirminiais sanskrito šaltiniais ir kritinėmis studijomis. Tyrimui pasitelkiama kompleksinė – tekstologinė semantinė, hermeneutinė ir lyginamoji – metodologija. Daromos išvados, jog filosofinių mokyklų požiūriai išsiskiria labiausiai šiais klausimais: ar įmanomas dabarties suvokimas? Ar jutiminė dabartis yra momentinė, ar ji turi trukmę? Ar laikas yra objektyvus ir realus, ar tik subjektyvi konstrukcija? Atskleidžiama, jog indų filosofiniuose požiūriuose nėra vienos vyraujančios perspektyvos, principinė polemika vyko tarp budistinės nyāyos bei vaiśeṣikos mokyklų. Tyrimas (...) grindžia išvadą, kad indų filosofijoje laikas suprantamas ne psichologiškai, o epistemologiškai, siejant su patikimo pažinimo ir žinių pagrįstumo klausimais. (shrink)

The aim of this article is to define the actual construction of the modern 21st century’s Lithuanian pension system influenced by the last economic crisis and social challenges (ageing processes, raising social expenses) and implemented pension system reforms. Problems of the Lithuanian pension system are similar to those of the other European Union countries; therefore international organization recommendations and indications for future reforms should be evaluated and implemented. In this article Lithuanian pension system reforms are analyzed in the light of (...) the recommendations of international organizations and situation in the European Union. Analysis of scientific literature, legal acts, documents, historical methods, were used. The aim of this article is to define the actual construction of the Japanese pension system influenced by the economic and social challenges and implemented pension system reforms. In this article, the development of Japanese pension system reforms is analysed, as well as legal, economic, social environment is identified. Until recently, it was a common perception that Japan has managed economic success without worsening the income inequality and pension benefits, but since the economic recession in the 1990, the Japanese pension (...) system faces a new challenge. Moreover, the Japanese population is ageing rapidly (low birth rate, long life expectancy), therefore, ageing influences the entire society and requires more complex and pressing pension system reforms. Analysis of scientific literature, legal acts, documents, historical methods was used. Straipsniu siekiama įvertinti gydytojų integracijos darbo rinkoje būklę bei tendencijų raidą; pastarosios yra vertinamos ekonomikos pakilimo / nuosmukio sąlygų kontekste. Vienas svarbesnių šios publikacijos prioritetų – gydytojų darbinis mobilumas (migracijos tendencijos) darbo rinkoje vykstančių pokyčių fone. Nemažai dėmesio šioje publikacijoje skiriama tyrimo autorių atliktos gydytojų kokybinės apklausos duomenųanalizei, kurią atliekant buvo panaudoti Lietuvos statistikos departamento kaupiami darbo jėgos (užimtumo) tyrimų ir darbo statistikos duomenys. Straipsnyje aptariamos šalies ūkio apsirūpinimo žmogiškaisiais ištekliais Lietuvos sveikatos priežiūros sektoriuje problemos, įvertinamos medikų karjeros galimybės. It has been argued that belief in free will is socially consequential and psychologically universal. In this paper we look at the folk concept of free will and its critical assessment in the context of recent psychological research. Is there a widespread consensus about the conceptual content of free will? We compared English “free will” with its lexical equivalents in Lithuanian, Hindi, Chinese and Mongolian languages and found that unlike Lithuanian, Chinese, Hindi and Mongolian lexical expressions of “free will” do (...) not refer to the same concept free will. What kind people have been studied so far? A review of papers indicate that, overall, 91% of participants in studies on belief in free will were WEIRD. Thus, given that free will has no cross-culturally universal conceptual content and that most of the reviewed studies were based on WEIRD samples, belief in free will is not a psychological universal. This article deals with some earlier applications of psychology for the analysis of the colonial condition offered by three thinkers—Octave Mannoni, Frantz Fanon and recent applications of Freudian psychoanalytical theory in the poststructuralist approach of Homi K. Bhaba. An attempt is made to compare their standpoints and reflect more broadly on what their implications mean for the future of psychoanalysis’ place in postcolonial critique. Also to answer a vital question in the theoretical project of postcolonial studies: Is psychoanalysis a universally (...) applicable theory for psychic disruption in the colonial context? What are differences in the application of psychological theory for studies of colonial discourse? The conclusion of the paper is: Despite the problematic inheritance of racializing thinking psychoanalysis has proved to be an important and reoccurring methodology in colonial critique and postcolonial theory. Nevertheless, it is necessary to recognize that psychoanalysis itself is a colonial discipline and must become an object of colonial discourse analysis. (shrink)

People across cultures consider everyday choices in the context of perceived various external life-determining forces: such as fate and gods (two teleological forces) and such notions as luck and chance (two non-teleological forces). There is little cross-cultural evidence (except for a belief in gods) showing how people relate these salient notions of life-determining forces to prosociality and a sense of well-being. The current paper provides preliminary cross-cultural data to address this gap. Results indicate that choice is the most important life-determining (...) factor. Regression analyses indicate that choice and belief in gods and fate emerged as significant predictors of prosociality towards strangers. Moreover, luck was a significant predictor of decreased prosociality. A relation between life-determining forces and life satisfaction followed the same pattern: choice, gods, and fate emerged as significant predictors of greater life satisfaction, whereas luck was associated with decreased life satisfaction. The overall pattern of results indicates that participants across different cultures might sense being bounded to share or not to care depending on the perceived intentional agency and meaning in the external forces. The paper assesses labour market integration opportunities for the groups of country’s population that are highly contrasting in social terms, i.e. young people and older adults, and their dependence on demographic changes. Since the beginning of the 21st century up to 2050 in the future, demographic changes have demonstrated and will continue to have an increasing impact on the social and economic development of European countries. In this context, it is particularly appropriate to monitor the demographic prospects and labour market (...) situation of young people and older adults. These marginal social groups of economic activity are the best reflection of the overall labour market prospects of an individual country. The paper provides a detailed analysis of the situation in Lithuania. Transformations of the situation of young people and older adults in the Lithuanian labour market are closely linked to highly dynamic changes in demographic structures. Using a variety of labour market indicators, the paper identifies trends characterising the situation of the target groups at issue, with a particular emphasis on the observed changes in unemployment and employment (economic activity) during crisis periods. The results of the analysis help to highlight weaknesses and strengths of the labour market situation of the target groups. The strengths include the positive dynamism of most of the observed labour market indicators in Lithuania in the long term and the fact that the situation is, in many cases, relatively better than the average for EU countries. The weaknesses in the labour market situation of young people and older adults are related to the relatively higher vulnerability of these social groups during economic downturns; they appear to lose jobs faster and need longer time to find a suitable job during economic recoveries.
