Despite the abundant production of catecismos in 16th century Spain, few of them were addressed directly to the new converted population, and fewer still were translated into or written in Arabic. Given the dimension of the Morisco question within Catholicism at the time, this scarcity is striking. Archbishop of Valencia and attending member of the Council of Trent, Martín Pérez de Ayala, commissioned one of these rare texts, the Doctrina Christiana en Lengua Arauiga y Castellana, written in Valencian Arabic. The (...) text encloses a brief catechism containing mainly prayers but also a set of instructions about both Arabic phonetics and doctrinal matters. The present article intends to study the language ideology present in the translation of Christian doctrine into Arabic. In order to do so, it asks questions such as whether the emphasis on spoken Arabic is a conscious distance from a Koranic Arabic language, and how religious space is shaped through language. Purpose: This systematic review aimed to analyze the impact that the COVID-19 lockdown had on the amount of physical activity performed by university students.Materials and Methods: A systematic electronic search for studies providing information regarding physical activity levels pre and during COVID-19 pandemic in university students was performed up to 20th October 2020 in the databases Cochrane Library, PubMed, SPORTDiscus, and Web of Science. The risk of bias of external validity quality of included studies was assessed by means of those (...) the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale. The quality of the evidence for main outcomes was graded using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation approach.Results and Conclusions: A total of 10 studies were selected. Physical activity levels were assessed by means of questionnaires and accelerometer. Risk of bias was regarded as low and high in six and four investigations, respectively. The quality of evidence was downgraded to low. A significant reduction of physical activity levels were observed in 9 studies. Compared to pre-lockdown values, five studies showed a reduction of light/mild physical activity between 32.5 and 365.5%, while seven studies revealed a reduction of high/vigorous physical activity between 2.9 and 52.8%. Walking, moderate, vigorous, and total physical activity levels have been reduced during the COVID-19 pandemic confinements in university students of different countries. Despite of the reductions, those who met the current minimum PA recommendations before the lockdown generally met the recommendations also during the confinements. (shrink)

La ética ambiental, últimamente se ha visto consultada y retomada, gracias a las diferentes situaciones problemáticas respecto a los ecosistemas y a los cambios que se han dado alrededor del planeta, ya que es recurrente que cada vez sean más y frecuentes, los cambios climáticos y fenómenos naturales que antes no se daban en determinados territorios.Gran parte de las problemáticas tienen que ver con las labores que realizamos los seres humanos, si no es que toda la responsabilidad recae en nosotros, (...) con ello nos referimos a que todo el desequilibrio climático que se tiene hoy en día, es causa de la poca estima que tenemos respecto con el ambiente, la contaminación de suelo, agua y aire; que si bien se nos enseña a separar la basura de nada sirve si al final se reúne toda en los deshechos o rellenos, por otra parte la poca autorreflexión de los seres humanos en cuanto a ello, así como el daño que ello les provoca a las especies de todo tipo, llevándolas al peligro, y por último a la extinción, empero no sólo las especies animales se ven afectadas, sino también la flora de los ecosistemas va desapareciendo con la invasión del ser humano y el poco respeto a la naturaleza, cada vez las sociedades crecen más y con ello, por ende, el crecimiento de la ciudad o mancha urbana.Todo lo anterior nos remite a que se piense desde un ámbito ético, es decir, nuestra relación con el medio ambiente, por lo que nuestro objetivo es plantear las principales problemáticas acerca del tema y de la ética ambiental desde una perspectiva filosófica que, si bien ya es parte, de todo esto, nos cuestionamos: ¿qué se puede hacer respecto a la contaminación?, ¿qué se debería cambiar? ¿para qué? ¿a dónde llegar? ¿cómo lograrlo? es por ello que se tomará en cuenta el trabajo de los filósofos desde una perspectiva de la ética, para poder proponer soluciones o tratar de detener las problemáticas, para causar cambios de algunos hábitos a partir de la reflexión del individuo, es cierto que cada individuo; tiene una rutina e inconscientemente se vuelve parte de la contaminación, de todas las acciones que ejecutamos en el día usamos diferentes instrumentos que provienen de la naturaleza, y es obvio que no se puede llegar a ser un ermitaño, del bosque o del campo, estando acostumbrado a las comodidades de la ciudad, lo que se busca aquí es la reflexión de las actividades que desempeñamos todos los día y poder cambiarlas o si es posible frenarlas de algún modo (si no es necesaria la actividad dentro de la vida), para ser más amigables y responsables del planeta, ya que es éste el fin de la ética ambiental: ponerla en práctica, aplicar las teorías que sean benefactoras del medio ambiente. In this paper we discuss the meaning of Owen's coalitional extension of the Banzhaf index in the context of voting situations. It is discussed the possibility of accommodating this index within the following model: in order to evaluate the likelihood of a voter to be crucial in making a decision by means of a voting rule a second input (apart from the rule itself) is necessary: an estimate of the probability of different vote configurations. It is shown how Owen's coalitional (...) extension can be seen as three different normative variations of this model. (shrink)

Lower extremity non-contact soft tissue injuries are prevalent in elite futsal. The purpose of this study was to develop robust screening models based on pre-season measures obtained from questionnaires and field-based tests to prospectively predict LE-ST injuries after having applied a range of supervised Machine Learning techniques. One hundred and thirty-nine elite futsal players underwent a pre-season screening evaluation that included individual characteristics; measures related to sleep quality, athlete burnout, psychological characteristics related to sport performance and self-reported perception of chronic (...) ankle instability. A number of neuromuscular performance measures obtained through three field-based tests [isometric hip strength, dynamic postural control and lower extremity joints range of motion ] were also recorded. Injury incidence was monitored over one competitive season. There were 25 LE-ST injuries. Only those groups of measures from two of the field-based tests, as independent data sets, were able to build robust models [area under the receiver operating characteristic curve score ≥0.7] to identify elite futsal players at risk of sustaining a LE-ST injury. Unlike the measures obtained from the five questionnaires selected, the neuromuscular performance measures did build robust prediction models. The inclusion in the same data set of the measures recorded from all the questionnaires and field-based tests did not result in models with significantly higher performance scores. The model generated by the UnderBagging technique with a cost-sensitive SMO as the base classifier and using only four ROM measures reported the best prediction performance scores. The models developed might help coaches, physical trainers and medical practitioners in the decision-making process for injury prevention in futsal. (shrink)

Study of Islamic philosophy of Yaḥyá ibn Ḥabash Suhrawardī, 1152 or 1153-1191.

This study is defined within the context of the critical posthuman project of decentring humanist subjectivity. We argue that because agential realism, and the agency and performativity that go with it, do not enable non-human matter to be accountable, only human matter, in its intra-active becoming with non-human matter, can support an ethical project. Secondly, we map our understanding of Barad’s agential realism, explaining the importance of agential cuts in phenomena-in-their-becoming that are the world worlding itself, and evaluate ethics, agency, (...) and performativity in this material-discursive framework. Thirdly, understanding the material-discursive to underpin storied matter, we engage it via some clarification of narrative, and narrative agency. We conclude that much organic or inorganic nature as non-human matter is directional and responsive, so alive and generative and, in this sense, capable of worlding itself. Background: Serious games have shown positive results in increasing motivation, adherence to treatment and strengthening the therapeutic alliance in multiple psychiatric disorders. In particular, patients with impulse control disorders and other disorders in which the patient suffers from inhibitory control deficits have been shown to benefit from serious games.Aim: The aim of this study was to describe the characteristics and to evaluate the usability of a new serious videogame, e-Estesia. This serious videogame was designed to improve emotion regulation in patients (...) with gambling disorder. Preliminary results from a pilot sample are also reported.Method: A pilot sample of 26 patients undergoing treatment for GD was recruited. Participants used e-Estesia on a tablet, which was connected to a thoracic band that sent heart rate and heart rate variability data to the videogame platform in order to provide biofeedback. The System Usability Scale was completed by patients to determine the usability of e-Estesia.Results and Discussion: e-Estesia performed comparatively well for all the explored groups. Around 84.6% of the patients endorsed that it was easy to use. Female patients with GD presented higher HRV during the use of the serious videogame compared to men. (shrink)

Esports have transformed playing video games into a competitive activity that bears similarities to sports and the processes of sportization. Taking as a starting point the concept of sports as competitive games, the objective of this work is to analyse the sportization of esports, as well as the impact of esports on the concept of sports and their implications on sports in the immediate future. Sports and esports are two different realities that interact with each other. This is a conceptual (...) problem for sports, and it also defines a practical challenge in the immediate future of sports. The virtual environment offers new possibilities in sports, such as broadening the possibilities of confrontation and competition development, contributing to reducing the environmental impact of certain sports, improving safety and maintaining the physical integrity of athletes, and increasing social justice and equality of chances in sports competitions. The challenge, therefore, is to try to bring esports and sports closer together, even moving toward hybrid sports, as addressed throughout this article. (shrink)

Objective: To describe the professional values of the nurse lectures according to 241 nursing students, who participated voluntarily, in three different universities of Bogotá. Methodology: This is a quantitative, descriptive cross-sectional study that applied the Nurses Professional Values Scale—permission secured—Spanish; three dimensions of values were applied: ethics, commitment, and professional knowledge. Ethical consideration: Project had ethical review and approval from an ethics committee and participants were given information sheets to read before they agreed to participate in the project. Findings: It (...) was concluded that nursing students, in general, do perceive these values in their professors, and they give priority to the dimension of ethics, followed by the knowledge dimension, and finally, commitment. Discussion: It is evident that professional values are transmitted by professors and students place importance to such values. Values related to the other’s care are paramount in nursing training in Colombia as well as in other countries. Conclusion: It was found that participating students observed professors directly in relation to values focused on direct patient care, respect for privacy, respect for life, while matters related to professional improvement, participation in unions were not actually analyzed may be due to poor promotion activities and unions during undergraduate studies. The results obtained are primary approach to the study of values related to nursing, a topic which needs to be researched, something vital to all the country offering nursing training programs. In recent years, preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) of IVF embryos have gained much traction in clinical assisted reproduction for preventing various genetic defects, including Down syndrome. However, such genetic tests inevitably reveal the sex of IVF embryos by identifying the sex (X and Y) chromosomes. In many countries with less stringent IVF regulations, information on the sex of embryos that are tested to be genetically normal is readily shared with patients. This would thus present Muslim patients with unintended opportunities for (...) sex selection based on personal or social biases without any pressing need or valid medical reason. Additionally, there are other patients who claim using PGT for preventing genetic defects as a pretext or “convenient excuse,” with a secret intention to do sex selection when it is banned in their home country. Currently, non-medical sex selection is a highly-controversial and hotly debated issue in Islam, because there is generally a strong preference for having sons over daughters due to widespread cultural norms of elderly parents depending on their sons for financial support, as well as the need for male heirs to continue the family lineage within the backdrop of local patriarchal cultures. There is a risk of gender imbalance and social disequilibrium occurring in Islamic societies due to prevalent sex selection. Hence, the question is whether opportunistic sex selection with PGT would contravene Islamic ethics and principles, which will thus be discussed here. (shrink)

Estos documentos datan de la primera mitad del siglo XVI y forman parte de la correspondencia procedente de las plazas portuguesas en el Norte de África. Desde un punto de vista lingüístico, las cartas se caracterizan por estar escritas en árabe medio, una variedad de lengua que presenta importantes divergencias gramaticales con respecto a la norma del (...) árabe clásico y en la cual se combinan elementos dialectales y otros del árabe estándar. Este artículo estudia una corta narración en árabe muy conocida a través de diversas versions populares documentadas en manuscritos de diferentes orígenes (Siria, Egipto y Norte de África), comenzando en el siglo XVII. La narración describe cómo un peque.o gorrión queda atrapado en la trampa de un cazador y cómo, mediante todo tipo de estratagemas y usando su ingenio, logra escapar de su terrible destino. Si bien esta narración aparece frecuentemente en los círculos tardíos más populares, muchos de sus (...) elementos esenciales, se pueden rastrear en los escritos árabes medievales clásicos de los orígenes islámicos de Oriente y Occidente, en la mayoría de los casos como dos fábulas distintas. La historia de esta narración se mueve así entre la literatura clásica medieval y la popular premoderna. Incluso toca los márgenes de la historia de las Mil y una noches. En un artículo reciente se ha examinado un manuscrito datado en el siglo XVII que presenta toda la narración tal y como se encuentra con el ritmo y metro del dialect egipcio en el mawwāl. El presente estudio, basado en un manuscrito, analiza en cambio la adaptación de la narrative popular a la prosa. (shrink)

L'auteur reconstruit le contexte intellectuel dans lequel s'est développée la pensée du philosophe allemand et fait apparaître des sources inattendues : ce serait la puissante tradition péripatéticienne transmise dans le monde arabe (Avicenne, Maïmonide et Averroès), reçue chez les pères de la philosophie allemande qui fournirait la clé des principales positions spéculatives de Maître Eckhart.

La méthode critique et historique adoptée par S. al `Azm touche aux divers domaines et révèle son souci de traiter de n'importe quel fait en vertu des exigences de l'esprit scientifique. lI s'en sert pour accéder à des vérités établies sur des bases réelles et scientifiques tout en récusant l'approche conceptuelle et figée de la réalité. Ne visant pas uniquement et arbitrairement la déconstruction des idéologies religieuses et politiques, il conçoit une société arabe affranchie des contraintes aveugles exercées par l'autorité (...) politique et religieuse. Une société débarrassée de ses illusions religieuses ainsi que de ses appartenances confessionnelles et fanatiques, et fondée sur des bases laïques et socialistes. (shrink)

Partisan fougueux du positivisme logique, il n'est pas étonnant que Zakî Najîb Mahmûd annonce la mort de la métaphysique traditionnelle qui se sert des concepts vides de sens. Concepts qui s'appliquent à un domaine qui ne tombe pas sous le contrôle des sens. S'il compare la métaphysique à la superstition, c'est parce que le métaphysicien se contente d'élaborer idéellement un système qu'il estime chargé d'une représentation fidèle au monde sensible. A telle enseigne qu'il s'y renferme tout en omettant les enseignements (...) fournis par la réalité sensible. Cette attitude critique vis-à-vis de la métaphysique ne l'a pas empêché de retourner au patrimoine arabe qu'il étudie dans toute son ampleur tout en dégageant les caractéristiques de l'identité arabe. En la época islámica, Apolonio de Tiana (15-100 d.C.) era conocido tanto como “Señor de los talismanes” (ṣāḥib al-ṭilasmāt), así como filósofo neopitagórico y hermético. En su Kitāb al-Aḥŷār, Ŷabir b. Ḥayyān habla de “los defensores musulmanes de Apolonio” (aṣḥāb Balīnās al-Islāmīyūn). La referencia muestra que el trabajo más prominente de Apolonio, Sirr al-jalīqa, ya era famoso en el mundo de habla árabe desde muy temprano. Este artículo proporciona una visión general de las citas de Apolonio en las fuentes (...) islámicas de diferentes campos y de las obras, generalmente, atribuidas a él. Además, reviso en Sirr al-jalīqa, sus influencias en las obras ŷābirianas y su recepción en la tradición ismailí. Este artículo aborda además el comentario árabe de Sirr aljalīqa de ‘Awn b. al-Munḏir (IV/X), conservado en un manuscrito único, y cuya traducción persa era hasta ahora desconocida. Dicha traducción cubre fragmentos del trabajo de Ibn al-Munḏir, no disponibles en árabe, y, por lo tanto, es una fuente sustancial para la historia de la alquimia islámica. El análisis del islam en Sudán muestra la gran variedad de aproximaciones al objeto de estudio, la diversidad de sus lecturas y el reiterado recurso a los principios religiosos para justificar o legitimar las cuestiones políticas y de Estado. El islam sudanés, en sus diferentes manifestaciones, ha traspasado las fronteras nacionales y ha contribuido al islam africano, árabe y mundial. Eso desde el siglo XIX cuando surgió un primer proto-estado islámico de la mano de esa figura mesiánica que fue (...) Muhammad Ahmad Ibn Abdallah, el Mahdi, hasta el pensador y hombre de Estado Hasan al-Turabi en pleno siglo XX. Analizaremos tres dimensiones: el islam reformista de Mahmud Muhammad Taha, el islamismo sudanés conducido por al-Turabi y el papel del sufismo en la religiosidad popular y en la política sudanesa, y su reciente confrontación con las tendencias salafíes activas en el país en lo que parece ser una nueva lucha por el espacio socioreligioso del siglo XXI. Las escápulas de bóvido inscritas con alifatos o basmala son hallazgos relativamente frecuentes en la arqueología medieval de la Península Ibérica. En este artículo se dan a conocer cuatro escápulas de bóvido inéditas y se presentan otras diez que ya habían sido publicadas por otros autores, a menudo consideradas como tablillas para la enseñanza de la escritura. Se propone una nueva interpretación de estas escápulas inscritas en árabe como amuletos, hipotéticamente vinculados a prácticas mágicas relacionadas con la protección de (...) reservas de grano a largo plazo en silos. RESUMEN: Trata este trabajo de la actitud del presidente Barack Obama en relación con las rebeliones de la denominada Primavera Árabe, desvelando si los criterios de la guerra justa por él señalados y defendidos en sus discursos se compaginan con la real política bélica de Estados Unidos. Se insertan ambos planos en el escenario de las rebeliones acaecidas en tres países: Libia, Egipto y Túnez. La conclusión principal es que hay un largo, además de irregular, distanciamiento entre la teoría (...) y la práctica del presidente Obama, prevaleciendo los intereses de Estados Unidos por encima de la protección de los derechos humanos, que es uno de los vectores principales de su concepto de guerra justa.ABSTRACT: This work refers the attitude of the President Barack Obama concerning the rebellions of the so-called Arab Spring, revealing if the criteria of the just war defended in his speeches correspond to the real policy of the United States. Both planes are included in the scene of rebellions occurred in three countries: Libya, Egypt and Tunisia. RésuméLa tradition manuscrite duKitāb al-Kašf, conserve la trace matérielle de trois phases de rédaction et de révision de l'ouvrage. Cette étude vise à expliciter les relations entre les deux versions arabes et la traduction hébraïque anonyme du XIVesiècle, en prenant en compte les additions et remaniements qui les différencient. Je conclus que la traduction hébraïque représente un stade intermédiaire de réélaboration: elle atteste d'importants ajouts et modifications philosophiques, spécialement dans les arguments portant sur la création du monde, au début de (...) l'ouvrage, mais précède l'achèvement de la révision du traité, qui a conduit aux remaniements dont témoigne la dernière version arabe, dans les chapitres abordant les questions épineuses de la corporéité divine et de la direction. L'étude des ajouts et des arguments du point de vue du contenu, du contexte et de l'argumentation contribue également à comprendre l'histoire de la stratification des phases rédactionnelles de l'ouvrage et la manière dont l'ouvrage a été transmis.
