On the Treatment of the Cultural Differences in Tourist Translation

Abstract

Tourism promotional materials contain a wealth of cultural factors, cultural differences to the English Tourism Translation cause greater difficulties, therefore, to functionalist translation theory to the core - "teleological" as a guide to explore the English translation of the principles of tourism proposed effective translation methods and strategies, and thus accurate and vivid translations of travel information to promote the development of China's tourism industry. Due to the close relationship between tourism and culture and the abundant cultural elements in tourist publication materials, tourist translation is confronted with the problem of how to deal with these cultural elements. This article analyzes some of the difficulties in tourist translation posed by cultural differences and probes into the principle of Chinese-English tourist translation, taking the Skopostheory as its theoretical base. Finally the paper proposes some strategies for solving these problems
