Abstract

This article intends to demonstrate how Voltaire expresses his ideas through literature. Zadig has been chosen for this intention. Thus, the text promotes a qualitative analysis, comparing Zadig with other texts written by Voltaire. It also considers the context and the author’s personal experiences. Zadig is an example of Voltaire’s manner of using the written word, especially literature, for the defence of his ideas to transform society, combating the infâme, the intolerance, and the authority as an obstacle to knowledge and progress.
