Abstract
The dissertation researches a phenomenon of human communication in which the Echo of the World is given in the echoing practices of the person. Consistent with the philosophy and the methodology of semiotic phenomenology, the research comprises the phenomenological description of the sign, "World," the phenomenological reduction of the signifier , "echoing practices," and the phenomenological interpretation of the signified , "commonplace echolalia." Commonplace echolalia is the conjunction of the echoing and the Echo in the communicative style of contact of the person who speaks. ;An exemplar is used to develop the thesis that the World is the basic unit of communication. The World of the exemplar is explored in the three cultural settings of exchange, language, and kinship to recover the Self for when the existence of the World is a priori, thus revealed as World-in-the-being. ;The dissertation demonstrates that: research of the "person" rightly begins with research of the World constituted by the person; and, "commonplace echolalia" as a communicative style of contact is both common and situated; and, Maurice Merleau-Ponty's eidetic thesis, "intersubjectivity is subjectivity," is confirmed in the echoing Echoes of persons communicating at the interpersonal level
