Abstract

Militant de la cause protestante, économiste physiocrate, franc-maçon de premier plan et fondateur du Musée de Paris, Antoine Court de Gébelin (1725-1784), dans son oeuvre monumentale Le Monde primitif analysé et comparé avec le Monde moderne (1773-1784), promettait d'éclairer ce que l'Encyclopédie avait laissé dans l'ombre, pour dépasser les limites du connaissable.
