Abstract
As the normative literature on immigration has matured over the last twenty plus years, it’s
become increasingly hard to make interesting, plausible, and original claims. Most issues
have been discussed, and most plausible positions staked out. Valeria Ottonelli and Tiziana
Torresi’s book is, then, a pleasant surprise. In a brisk 173 pages they make important tech-
nical contributions and argue for an insightful approach to thinking about some problems
relating to migration. I will suggest worries about both their conclusions and the approach,
but anyone interested in normative migration theory should read the book.
