Administration of public educational institutions in nigeria: Problem and suggestion

Abstract

The article discussed the problems facing public schools in Nigeria. Secondary data was used to support the points raised in the article. The secondary data were sourced from print material and online publication by recognized institutions and individual author. Some of the problems facing the administration public education institutions in Nigeria include; inadequate funding, inadequate professional teachers, inadequate infrastructural facilities, weak administrators, institutional corruption, poor supervision, insecurity problem, shortage of instructional materials, poor access to public school and lack of data to plan. In view of this problems the public educational institutional in Nigeria, the researchers hereby suggest the followings: that the government should increase the funding of education, employ more professional teachers, provide adequate infrastructural facilities, fight institutional corruption, appointment of competent professional as administrators, provide adequate instructional materials, effectives supervision, adequate security in public schools and generation of reliable data for education planning.
