Abstract

The healthcare sector plays a signiUicant role in shaping human happiness and well-being. It also has a signiUicant impact on the economic progress of the country as healthy populations live longer, are more productive, and health is tied to human welfare. This paper evolved out of my PhD Dissertation titled “Past, present and future trends of nursing work force migra tion: analysis and policy implications”. This article provides an overview about the healthcare delivery system of Pakistan wi th demographics and heal th indica tors comparative to regional countries. Moreover, it provides a 5-year analysis of healthcare facilities in Pakistan with respect to population. An attempt has been made in this article to highlight challenges that healthcare system of Pakistan is currently facing, with recommendations and conclusion.
