Abstract

As the climate crisis deepens, cities—where more than half of the global population now lives—are both significant contributors to climate change and hotspots of its impacts. Yet, they also offer powerful opportunities for transformative action. In a recent study, Creutzig et al. (2025) propose a bold reimagining of urban policy that places human well-being and environmental sustainability at its core.
