Local Labors and the Rural Administrative District System in Song Dynasty

Abstract

Song and rural township is served "administrative division" of both overlap and differences between a history of the term, it is not only for the imperial power of the "nerve endings", but also with the people by the people "by the people" means that the rural management system, but it is not a complete administrative divisions, but can not be called an administrative agency. This is "level service" nature of the system, characteristics of the decision: it reflects a "job" of the composition, also contains "labor" of components, the two constitute one and indivisible. Local labors were related but different from the rural administration in Song dynasty, which were not only the extension of national powers, but also the social control system of self-rule. However, they were not an independent level of administrative districts. Local labor system in Song Dynasty included two parts: bureaucracy and labor, which couldn't be divided
