Abstract

Europa is in een morele crisis terechtgekomen doordat zij niet in staat is een visie op de wereld te ontwikkelen, om Europa’s plaats daarin te bepalen en om te begrijpen wat Europa is. Het is kwalijk dat de intellectuele en politieke elite zich naar binnen keert en zich afsluit voor alles wat anders is, want het is juist de passie voor de Ander en voor de ontmoeting die Europa’s kracht is en waarmee veranderingen op een geëigende manier doorgevoerd kunnen worden. Om het tij te keren moeten de elites intelligenter en opener worden en een nieuwe vorm van leiderschap zien te vinden.
