Abstract

Title: "Constructive Ethics and Personal Autonomy" (Translation). This book seeks to assess postmodernity's effect on the field of ethics. Countering the idea, held by some philosophers, that postmodernity completely undermined modernity's view of ethics, the author of this book argues that postmodernity has had a positive, two-fold effect on ethics by highlighting the internal defects of modernity's system of ethics while at the same time showing that a refined system of ethics would have to recognize its inability to be applied universally. While this book draws on the writings of Rawls, Habermas, and other philosophers, it offers a new approach to constructive ethics by emphasizing personal autonomy. Key terms. Forms: Philosophy.
