Bounds of Reason in the Knowledge of God: Gregory Palamas’ Criticism of Greek Philosophy

Abstract

We will discuss the role of philosophy in the first book of the first Triad in defense of the holy Hesychasts by Gregory Palamas within the context of the debate with monk Barlaam of Seminara regarding the possibility of knowing God without the Revelation and Christ’s mediation.
