O presente artigo trata da história da transição de gênero da atriz Maite Schneider, contada na peça Escravagina, de Cesar Almeida. O texto conta o desenvolvimento psicossocial do menino Alexandre até o momento em que este se torna Maite Schneider, a atriz consagrada da companhia teatral A Rainha de 2 Cabeças, grupo independente de Cesar Almeida. O texto é analisado a partir das transições presentes na Performance de Gênero, propostas por BENTO (2017), para a seguir propor uma análise da transexualidade (...) que toma o corpo trans como sendo um corpo parresiástico (FOUCAULT, 2013). A noção de performance que sustenta a análise, está inextricavelmente ligada à Teoria da Performance Teatral, que delineia a dramaturgia da peça Escravagina. Ambas, tanto a Performance de Gênero, quanto a Performance Teatral, por serem noções fundamentadas na verdade psíquica dos sujeitos, ligam-se às noções de parresia, veridicção e poder, presentes na obra foucaultiana. This paper focusses on the experiences of Indian lesbians and gays who are subjected to unethical acts of workplace bullying which get manifested through constant guesswork, comments and questioning about their sexual identity in the hostile Indian context. Given this, LG participants usually opt for secrecy and lead a double life, using ‘passing’ and ‘covering’ strategies to manage economic, social and psychological risks. Nonetheless, this paper rewrites the negative tenor of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transexuals research by underscoring how LG (...) participants move from fear to courage in their endeavour to live authentic lives while considering the broader organizational and social context. We argue that their courage is manifested mainly through deliberate micro-disclosures and a sense of defiance which can be enhanced if organizations are designed to be more inclusive and ethical. Consequently, participants defined inclusive ethical organizations as having conducive environments with trustworthy, supportive, secure, fair, unbiased and safe non-discriminatory policies open to the idea of diverse sexual orientations. Our findings point to the fact that, first and foremost, organizations must be crafted and sustained to be courageous within a hostile social climate, for employees to overcome their fears. (shrink)

This article traces the multiple enactments of sex in clinical practices of transgender medicine to argue against the presumed singularity of ‘transexuality’. Using autoethnography to analyse my own experience as a trans patient, I describe my clinical encounters with doctors, psychiatrists and surgeons in order to theorise sex as multiple. Following recent developments in science and technology studies (STS) that advance the work of Judith Butler on sex as performatively reproduced, I use a praxiographic approach to argue that treatment (...) practices produce particular iterations of what sex (and transexuality) ‘is’ and how these processes limit and foreclose other trans possibilities. I consider the ethical, political and material-discursive implications of treatment practices and offer a series of reflections about the effects and effectiveness of current clinical practices and the possibilities for intervening in such processes in order that, following Annemarie Mol, we might (re)make sex (and transexuality) differently. The study investigates how the territorial community can influence the individual and social well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual youth and especially the recognition of their feelings and the construction of their own identity as well as their needs to be socially recognized. This research focuses on the experiences of 30 LGB individuals, with a mean age of 25.07 years, living in urban and rural areas of Southern Italy. Focalized open interviews were conducted, and the Grounded Theory Methodology, supported by the (...) Atlas.ti 8.0 software, was used for data analysis. The textual material was first coded, and then codes were grouped into five macro-categories: Freedom of identity expression in the urban and rural context, identity construction and acceptance process, need of aggregation and identification with the LGB community, role of the interpersonal relationship in the process of identity acceptance, socio-cultural context, and LGB psychological well-being. The results showed a condition common to the two contexts that we can define as “ghettoization.” The young LGB is alone in the rural area due to a lack of places and people to identify with and greater social isolation. On the contrary, although there are more opportunities in the urban area, young people feel stigmatized and ghettoized because “their places” are frequented exclusively by the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, queer community. The work will extensively discuss the limitations of the research, future proposals, and the practical implications of the results. (shrink)

Este texto propõe uma discussão sobre o potencial de gêneros e formatos midiáticos tradicionais – a telenovela e o jornalismo – como instrumentos de visibilidade, construção de empatia e revisão das imagens do outro, comunicando experiências de alteridade por meio de histórias de vida que enfatizam silenciamentos e o (não) lugar atribuído a esses sujeitos no espaço público, bem como aspectos de subjetividade e identidade sociocultural. Para isso, orientamo-nos pelos estudos culturais e pela análise do discurso e propomos a leitura (...) crítica de dois conteúdos midiáticos contemporâneos: a produção da jornalista Eliane Brum a respeito de vítimas de contaminação por amianto, e a representação de uma transexual na teledramaturgia de Glória Perez. Ao fim, somos reconhecemos uma força revisionista nas narrativas contemporâneas de alteridade. (shrink)

Este artículo aborda la biografía de Marcia Alejandra, mujer transexual que inició su proceso medicalizado de «cambio de sexo» durante la Unidad Popular y logró su cambio legal de nombre en 1974, ya en dictadura. En el primer apartado, presento las nociones de cistemporalidad, trans*temporalidad y trans*historicidades como claves teórico-metodológicas. En la segunda parte, reconstruyo cómo la prensa abordó la historia de Marcia Alejandra desde una matriz cistemporal. Por contraste, en la tercera parte, retomo archivos informales reenfocando la biografía de (...) Marcia desde una dimensión trans*temporal. A partir del análisis desde estas dos matrices temporales, interrogo qué sucede cuando ponemos en contacto lo travesti/trans* y la historicidad, a 50 años del golpe de Estado. (shrink)

The author analyzes the origin and meaning of the expression ‘Ethics of Sexual Difference’ (ESD), contextualising it in the paradigm ‘thought of Sexual Difference’, in which the potentiality and aporias arising from the debate within the feminist movement are highlighted. Possible interpretations of these ethics, developed in the Italian philosophical context, are illustrated and evaluated. The author proposes a critical comparison with other models, for example, the queer theories, and attempts to show how the ‘Thought of Sexual Difference’ (TSD) opens (...) itself to destabilization produced by the emergence of new subjects (gay and lesbian, transgender, intersex) and their corresponding scientific knowledge. The author therefore proposes an update to the plural, ‘Ethics of Sexual Differences’ (ESDs), listing the possible methodological and content assumptions (including the development of a relational model in all scientific disciplines) and the disciplinary implications (also in the psychoanalytic field) of an ethics so defined. A reference is made to the discussion of socalled "gender ideology", in which the protagonists have often showed a certain difficulty in implementing an ESDs. (shrink)

Il testo vuole incarnare una possibile mediazione tra universi culturali lontani ed essere una lettura propedeutica per chi intenda addentrarsi nella tematica, lasciando che la fede cristiana s’interroghi liberamente sul ‘gender’. Un approccio sereno e critico sia alla cultura laica di genere – della quale si esaminano i nodi principali – sia a quella cattolica, con l’intento di superare le reciproche diffidenze e cercare insieme una verità umanizzante per tutti. L’obiettivo è gettare delle basi condivisibili su cui costruire una sintesi (...) teologica più ampia. Un testo che, nell’esaminare i nodi teoretici, volge lo sguardo alla recente campagna ‘anti-gender’, cercando di fornire le coordinate utili a svelenire il clima e muoversi al suo interno con padronanza di lessico e concettualità. In questo senso, l’opera vuole essere uno strumento per formatori, pastori e attivisti che vogliano introdursi nella complessità senza scorciatoie, per cogliere la ricchezza del ‘pensiero di genere’: nell’orizzonte della promozione di un benessere comunitario e individuale. Es nuestro propósito estudiar las normas sobre orientación sexual e identidad de género en los países del Norte de Europa (Reino Unido, Irlanda, Islandia, Finlandia, Dinamarca, Noruega, Suecia, Estonia, Letonia y Lituania). Nos dedicaremos sobre todo al estudio del grado de reconocimiento del derecho al cambio de género en las leyes nacionales, así como si esas legislaciones res- petan o no el Convenio Europeo de (...) Derechos Humanos y la legislación de la Unión Europea, a través de las resoluciones del Tribunal Derechos Humanos y del Tribunal de Justicia de la Unión Europea. (shrink)
