The present study seeks to determine which elements in the thought of Thomas Aquinas would make possible a transcendental expansion of kowing as proposed by Polo. For this purpose, the classical doctrine of the transcendentals is explaines, and the anthropological value of verum and bonum is underlined, especially in those passages that deal with the soul’s self-knowledge, the reditio in seipsum and the principle bonum diffusivum sui. From this analysis, a peculiar sese of being can be understood: one which (...) is proper to spirit, and which does not merely constitute being, but rather is the granting of act. This sense of being can be described as ‘openness towards the inside’ or ‘intimacy’, and allows the study of the transcendental consideration of created person. (shrink)

In teaching courses on Karl Rahner to undergraduates, I have come to appreciate the importance of finding a starting point with which students readily connect. After much thought, I begin these courses with an extended consideration of the human person. This starting point has the advantage not only of being Rahner’s but also of being one which seems attractive to students. I have found little evidence that students have to be convinced about the importance of self-concern. I am careful to (...) emphasize, however, that in Rahner’s understanding of the dynamism of conversio and reditio this starting point never allows for any form of narcissistic subjectivism. Starting with the concreteness of our lives naturally leads to other considerations which also seem attractive to students: the burden of self-responsibility, the sense of awe and wonder, the need for hope. These are among some of the concerns which I try to address when teaching Rahner. (shrink)

La teoria dell'autocoscienza umana come reditio completa ossia come riflessione del soggetto su di se possiede un significato ed una portata di ampiezza e profondita tali da richiedere uno studio articolato su diversi livelli di indagine filosofica. L'autocoscienza riflessiva costituisce il vertice dell'antropologia poiche il problema critico trova soluzione in quanto viene ricondotto ai fondamenti ontologici e metafisici nei quali si radica la stessa antropologia. La ricerca e incentrata sulle Quaestiones Disputatae de Veritate e sulla Summa Theologiae testi basilari (...) per la teoria dell'autocoscienza. Il confronto con Alberto Magno consente di evidenziare i presupposti e l'originalita della concezione tomista sottolineando l'autotrascendimento ed apertura all'Essere. W nowożytności refleksja została utożsamiona z przedmiotem poznania filozoficznego. Epistemologia przejęła znaczny zakres badań metafizyki, przez co racjonalizm oddalał się od realizmu, a realizm od konkretnie istniejącego bytu. Odmienne teorie poznania i przedmiotu suponowały wewnętrznie spójne, choć różniące się systemy filozoficzne. Pojęcie refleksji nabrało swoistego znaczenia w filozofii i po dziś dzień odgrywa istotną rolę w rozumieniu przedmiotu poznania i poznającego podmiotu. Św. Tomasz z Akwinu używa rzeczowników reflexio oraz reditio. Znaczenie łacińskiego słowa reditio – „ruch powrotny” podkreśla (...) naturalny dynamizm poznania ludzkiego. Ruch realizuje się w pełni w powrocie do swego źródła, zataczając koło, które zaczyna się w kontakcie podmiotu poznającego z przedmiotem, a kończy w ubogaconym doświadczeniem podmiocie. Refleksja jest tym ruchem, dzięki któremu człowiek poznaje, że poznaje, a w pełni poznaje, kiedy już poznał. Funkcje refleksji pozwala scharakteryzować podział na refleksję towarzyszącą reflexio in actu exercito oraz refleksję sygnitywną reflexio in actu signato. Wiąże ona więc świadomość w tożsamość „Ja”, czyli tożsamość ludzką, nadając jej koherentny, podmiotowy sens strukturalizujący się poprzez poznawanie zewnętrznie istniejących przedmiotów. (shrink)
