  1. What is a Newtonian system? The failure of energy conservation and determinism in supertasks.J. S. Alper, M. Bridger, J. Earman & J. D. Norton - 2000 - Synthese 124 (2):281-293.
Supertasks recently discussed in the literature purport to display a failure ofenergy conservation and determinism in Newtonian mechanics. We debatewhether these supertasks are admissible as Newtonian systems, with Earmanand Norton defending the affirmative and Alper and Bridger the negative.

    The Hindu Tantric World: An Overview by André Padoux.Ella M. Crawford & J. M. Fritzman - 2022 - Philosophy East and West 72 (3):1-5.
André Padoux was among a small number of scholars, including Harvey P. Alper and Lilian Silburn, who introduced the study of Tantra to Western scholars. He authored such important works as Vāc: The Concept of the Word in Selected Hindu Tantras and Tantric Mantras: Studies on Mantrasastra. Padoux's 2017 Hindu Tantric World: An Overview is a significant revision of his 2010 Comprendre le tantrisme: Les sources hindoues.Padoux seeks to discover what constitutes Tantric Hinduism by investigating its essential notions and (...)

    Women's Rights, Human Rights: International Feminist Perspectives.J. S. Peters & Andrea Wolper - 2018 - Routledge.
This comprehensive and important volume includes contributions by activists, journalists, lawyers and scholars from twenty-one countries. The essays map the directions the movement for women's rights is taking--and will take in the coming decades--and the concomittant transformation of prevailing notions of rights and issues. They address topics such as the rapes in former Yugoslavia and efforts to see that a War Crimes Tribunal responds; domestic violence; trafficking of women into the sex trade; the persecution of lesbians; female genital mutilation; and (...)

    Horace's Epistle to Torquatus (Ep. 1.5).J. S. C. Eidinow - 1995 - Classical Quarterly 45 (01):191-.
Horace addresses Torquatus again in Carm. 4.7. There the poet distinguishes three cardinal qualities: Torquatus's genus, his facundia, and hispietas. The right to eat and to an adequate standard of living for everyone motivates agricultural research assistance to developing countries with the primary objective of assuring sufficient food supply. This article focuses on aspects of food production and related agricultural research with specific examples from animal production. It discusses ethics of agricultural research in light of the utilitarian theory and compares livestock production in developing and developed countries. Major reasons for low outputs of animal production in developing countries are identified, (...)

In Professor W. B. Anderson's interesting paper on this subject there seems a certain hesitation about the treatment of Lucan's famouset quantum mihi restat ad Culicem ? .The following passages may be cited as fixing the sense of this rather rare idiom:1…crebro querens incolumi filio adiutorem imperii alium uocari. Et quantum superesse ut collega dicatur ? ,i.e. from adiutor to collega is ‘a mere step.’.
