    Why is blindsight blind?Carlo A. Marzi - 1999 - Journal of Consciousness Studies 6 (5):12-18.
It is proposed that there are at least two categories of blindsight. One is present in visually guided behaviour in normals as well as in brain-damaged patients, while the other is present only following cortical lesions. It is also proposed that blindsight is blind because residual visual functions are banned from consciousness either when they are subserved by subcortical centres alone or when they are mediated by cortical areas that have never been exclusively associated with such functions before brain injury.

Unwanted reflex-like saccades in visual extinction patients.Alessandra Fanini & Carlo Alberto Marzi - 1999 - Behavioral and Brain Sciences 22 (4):683-683.
We studied patients with left visual extinction following right hemisphere damage in a simple manual reaction time task using brief visual stimuli. With unilateral lateralized stimuli the patients showed a high proportion of unwanted, reflex-like saccades to either side of stimulation. In contrast, with bilateral stimuli there was an overall decrease in the proportion of unwanted saccades, and the vast majority of them were directed toward the ipsilesional side. The implications of these results for the Findlay & Walker model are (...)

Upshot: Since all my commentators express some reservation about the distinction between the cognitive and non-cognitive aspects of knowledge in general, and its applicability and relevance in the domain of religious belief in particular, I will address the question of why this distinction is important and whether these two modes of knowledge can be communicated. Further questions I try to address include: Can a radical constructivist be an atheist, or alternatively a religious believer? What exactly would these designations mean? Is (...)

    Sin: A History.Gary A. Anderson - 2009 - Yale University Press.
What is sin? Is it simply wrongdoing? Why do its effects linger over time? In this sensitive, imaginative, and original work, Gary Anderson shows how changing conceptions of sin and forgiveness lay at the very heart of the biblical tradition. Spanning nearly two thousand years, the book brilliantly demonstrates how sin, once conceived of as a physical burden, becomes, over time, eclipsed by economic metaphors. Transformed from a weight that an individual carried, sin becomes a debt that must be repaid (...)
