Abstract

Introduction. The subject of the study is the social determinants of mass diseases of non-infectious origin and the traumatic nature of social changes taking place in modern society. The purpose of the article is to identify the consequences of the negative impact on the health of the population of such factors as informatization, cyber dependence, consumer attitude to nature, a high level of social mobility, the transformation of a person into an object of total control, carried out, among other things, for his safety, etc. Theoretical analysis. The authors conclude that a specifi c feature of the modern risk-generating society is the accelerated spread of diseases of non-infectious origin, which acquire a massive character and become the main cause of mortality in developed countries – the most “prosperous” ones from the point of view of modern civilizational trends. Conclusions. A feature of the social determination of mass diseases of non-viral origin in the risk society is the multiplicative increase in the number and variety of provoking factors, which often leads to the inability to identify which of them is the cause of the disease and which is the consequence. The article also raises the question of the need to study the social factors contributing to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and other infectious diseases.
