Abstract

The main objective of this article is to inquire of the concept of autonomy outlined by Immanuel Kant in his book Grundlegung zur Metaphysik der Sitten. In order to achieve this goal, we will divide the article in three moments: the concept of autonomy in relation to the Kantian notion of dignity; the concept of autonomy in relation to the idea of heteronomy; through the concept of freedom we will explain how to get the characterization of autonomy. In this way, we will address the concept in three different relationships, separately, to synthesize, in the end, the principal ideas presented by Kant in his book.
