Abstract

Broadly, there are two approaches to consciousness, viz. the scientific and the rishi. In the scientific approach, consciousness is an emergent phenomenon of matter. This can be referred to as the matter route to consciousness. In the rishi route, consciousness is an infused phenomenon wherein matter is infused with spirit. īśāvāsyamidaṃsarvaṃ, yatkiñcajagatyāṃjaga, Ishopanishad declares. It implies all matter is infused with consciousness. This can be referred to as the spirit route to consciousness. Now there is a need to combine the two approaches to consciousness. It implies recognizing the impact of consciousness on Space and Time and on Energy and Matter. This also implies viewing the world through the lens of STC and EMC. This essay strives to do this.
