Abstract
Boredom can be understood as an interruption of the ongoing Story you tell yourself about your Engagement with the world. The story does not go on, and you are bored. If the story never picks up, you are terminally, existentially, bored. Yet boredom is also a way for our bodies to attune themselves to the world and many forms of attunement are thereby pre-thematic and Narrative. Since the body always engages with the world, it cannot be bored. From this pre-cognitive, non-thematic, engagement, new insights can eventually arise which kick-start the Storytelling process. In this paper, I am investigating the mechanisms by which such narrative re-engagement happens.
